We called today and was seen within an hour. We did a couples massage. The ladies were very nice. My husband had a lady whom he said gave him the best massage, and the lady I had was great as well. I am ALOT sore. However, I have a lower back issue, and she really paid attention to this area, and it was just what I wanted without even having to say anything. My autistic son purchased a gift certificate for me from Royal Spa for Christmas. Work prevented me from being able to redeem the certificate before the military moved me out of state. I happen to be back in town and called to redeem the certificate. The man on the phone said that it is only good for six months, so it is expired and not reimbursable. We looked at the certificate and the note that says it is only good for six months - written in my son's handwriting. We looked up South Carolina law and it says certificates are supposed to be good for one year from the date of purchase. If it expires prior to that, it needs to be printed on the front in at least size 10 font. So, I don't know if the massages are any good or worth it because I'm certainly not going to give them any more money and I don't have the time to fight the technicality of the broken law. P.S. I have been coming to Royal Spa since 2010. I always get a good deep massage with extra focus on the areas I ask for. Right now (during Covid) it is best to call ahead for an appointment, but normally they can see you whenever you just really need a massage. They do take credit/debit (but there is a small fee) so cash is best. During a standard massage they also bring in a few hot stones to help melt away the tension. I made an appointment and was met upon arrival by the man that manages the spa. He quickly let me know that he was the only one available to work on me and asked if that was ok, even though I had not requested gender upon scheduling. The massage itself was very good. Very strong with lots if pressure, I was even able to forgive the loud gum smacking and conversation during my massage- both of which I'm not a big fan of! The fact that I was not draped with a towel was disturbing. Once the 90 min massage was complete I was rushed off to a back room for a shower with a full body salt scrub.
