I had an ominous branch that looks dread hanging over my garage so I searched for some opinion and quotes. Royal tree was the only one that was open to taking "a small job" the rest just blew me off so I wasn't too pleased with some of the higher rated places in the area and kind of surprised they didn't want a quick easy job. Called them last after getting several estimates and they were $1,000 less than the closest competitor. I had three trees removed and the remainder all trimmed. Job was not finished on the first day so they had to return a week later to trim the rest of the trees that were discussed during the estimate. Royal Tree Service recently removed 3 trees from my backyard, and they did a fantastic job. When I started searching for a tree removal company, I received a call back from Jon the same day that I left a message. We scheduled for him to stop by to take a look at the job. He arrived on time wearing a mask. Very professional. He took a look at 3 trees that I wanted removed and provided his thoughts on what needed to be done as well as a quote. He advised that I needed to obtain a permit from my township, which I didn't know about, but glad that he mentioned it. After getting the permit, I was able to schedule the job with him via text messaging. Payment terms are simple - you pay when the job is complete. No upfront deposit. His crew arrived at 8am on the day of the job and finished by 2pm for 2 very large trees and 1 small tree. Solid crew who knew what they were doing. I was amazed at how they go up the trees and whittle them down piece by piece. Each piece is carefully lowered with ropes, all under control - nothing wildly swinging around or dropping to the ground. They cleaned up after themselves, and except for the missing trees, you wouldn't know anybody was there. I'd definitely recommend them to my neighbors and friends. read more

Had a decent size dying tree in my front yard that was growing right by some power lines. Called 4 companies for quotes: -one company didn't return my call till 2 weeks later -one came to give me a quote, drove by my place, and didn't even bother stopping because they knew that they couldn't handle the job due to the power lines -one was a few hundred dollars more expensive and that did not include stump removal So Royal offered the best price and was basically all inclusive (stump removal too). We requested an estimate late in the evening and they were very responsive and provided a quick turnaround to give us one. Within a week they were out and cleared our trees as requested in a fairly short amount of time. Everyone was very professional and kind. We hope more people get to work with Jason - he is an exceptional foreman who heard our concerns, walked us through what could be done, answered our questions and was very knowledgeable about the trees. When you own one of the oldest houses in the country, 360 years old, built in 1659, you need to be extra careful who you pick to do your work. I had many look at the double trunk tree that cracked during a wind storm but only Royal said the only way to do it safely since it was that big and that close to the house was with a crane, I happened to agree and thought that before they even came. Long overdue review for their tree removal service of a dying apple tree on our property. Their quote was the lowest we received and on the day of the removal, they came out as scheduled with a professional and efficient crew. They were communicative throughout the entire project and payment was super easy - basically handed their lead a check. The removal took two half-days as they had to return to remove the stump but they also cut our wood up into firewood for us. They were fantastic. I got several quotes and no one was able to get their stump grinder to my yard (I live in a city with alley access) grind my stump. John suggested speaking to my neighbor and going through their yard and it worked great. Couldn't tell that they'd removed a fence! I hired Royal Tree Service to prune five trees around my house in Weehawken (including four very large and mature ones), and to remove two scragglier trees that were a problem for the roof. John (or Jon?) came out in advance to give me a quote, and he struck me as very knowledgeable and informative. After I decided to hire them, he was also super responsive to all of my text messages when it came to scheduling and other questions. A crew of four men arrived exactly on time and completed the job in about four hours. My driveway was too steep for them to bring the bucket crane close enough to the trees, so they had to do everything with rappelling rope -- their climber guy was obviously very experienced and demonstrated a lot of agility in the air! The crew was polite and courteous throughout, and they made a special effort not to block traffic on my narrow street. They cleaned up all of the debris very neatly at the end, too.
