Always a must-visit when I'm in Kinder. I haven't been in several years, but there was very little change. Still good food, and plenty to eat. There was a bit of a wait for Sunday diners. The lot is still gravel paved, which I was concerned about on my iffy tire. I had the catfish and shrimp, and sweet tea. While waiting, enjoy the salad bar. The ranch dressing was starting to be a bit low, but was enough for me :) A child next to me spilled his drink on grandpa, and the staff was very good about cleaning it up and consoling the child. Seems to be a local favorite, as I overheard folks saying they came from nearby towns. I was still working on my food when I was asked if I wanted take-out. No, I'm good. When you are craving seafood this is one of the few places close to town that has it. Service is always great. Peanuts on the table to snack on before ur meal. They also have a pretty good salad bar that comes with most meals. I ordered the fried seafood platter, but they also have a grilled option. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. They don't serve alcohol. The food is ok. Nothing special and kind of pricy. No different from Fausto's. Where they lose me is that they don't serve any type of alcohol and they come on kind of heavy with the Christian contemporary music. If you're looking for a family place and you are big into religious music and like the feeling of stuff under your feet as you eat, by all means, come to Roys. read more

I used to live 30 minutes from here and me and my family would regularly make the drive just for Roy's seafood!! I have been going to this place for years. This is the best seafood place I know in Louisiana. Yes I've been all over and Roy's is my number one favorite. Good friendly service and reasonable prices. I loved Roy's and ate lunch there many times. Best fried catfish in the area. Always piping hot. Great salad bar and excellent homemade tartar sauce. The waitress warned me that some people didn't like the tartar sauce which I can't imagine. Anyway, next time through town at lunchtime (closed on Mondays) I'll stop in again for more delicious catfish. read more

There aren't many choices in Kinder but sadly this place is probably one of the best. Salad bar was stocked well but the broccoli and carrots looked dry and limp. I feel like it was way overpriced for the amount and quality...next time we'll just drive somewhere for lunch when we come to the casino. read more

My wife and I got the fried and grilled seafood platters. The deluxe platters are huge with more than enough to share. The salad bar was fresh. The oysters were fried perfectly, crunchy exterior but soft and moist inside without being gooey. The grilled fish was smokey, spicy and delicious. The potato and sweet potato were also perfectly prepared. The waitress was friendly and helpful. We will be back for more. read more

I had the pleasure of dining at Roy's Catfish Hut last night. The environment is really friendly and welcoming. The service was great. Our waitress was very polite and appeared to be well informed and when it came to knowing her menu items. I had the three piece catfish dinner, which came with a salad bar and a side item. The salad bar was nice, the items were fresh and there was a nice variety. The only thing that spoiled the meal was when he plates came out to the tables; the three piece catfish dinner was just that. PIECES. The plate was so skimpy it looked like something that should have been on the kids menu. There was not three catfish filets, there were three pieces literally. They take one catfish filet and split it down the middle then batter and fry it. So you may get one good filet and a piece total. The one thing I was expecting to get at the catfish hut was a lot of catfish. I don't eat a lot, I usually have to get a take out box because I can never finish a meal. However, a child can eat those small pieces of catfish and want more. If Roy's Catfish Hut think the old splitting the filet trick is fooling anyone, they've the ones being fooled. However, it must be working since they've been in business since 1998. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was nice and friendly, therefore, I give Roy's a three star rating. read more

Had a Seafood platter tonight. The food was delicious, salad bar had plenty Fresh Veggies and the server was efficient/friendly.

Service is good but super slow. They only had 3 tables counting mine and the food took more then 40 min. The food is average and to salty.

My family and I stopped by Roy's Catfish Hut on the way home from Coushatta on Sunday morning. They were extremely busy and understaffed. Having worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years, I completely understand when things are busy but a little customer service goes a long way. We waited for 10 minutes for someone to come by and greet us. Finally a lady stopped by out of breath saying she wasn't our server but she would get our order. By that time we all knew what we wanted. We then proceeded to the salad bar and came back and finished our salads before we even received our beverages. It was a good 20 minutes before anyone looked our way after that. I felt like we were the table in the corner everyone was avoiding. We were out of drinks, hungry and tired of waiting. The same lady that took our order yelled from across the room saying she was thinking about us. I needed to add vegetables to my plate so I had to yell this across the room while she was running around. After waiting 50 minutes with no drink refills and no food, we decided it was time to leave. We walked to the front and I asked the hostess if I could speak with the manager, which I had not seen the entire hour we were waiting. She looked at me like she didn't understand what I was talking about. No smile saying "sure no problem", just a deer in the headlights look. While we were waiting our "order taker" (claimed she wasn't our server) ran by asking where we were going because our food was ready. I proceeded to tell her that we had been waiting for so long and we needed to leave but we would pay for what we had (drinks and salad) and that I wanted to speak with the manager. She then huffs and puffs and goes back into the kitchen. A few minutes later she surfaces saying "The manager said y'all can JUST LEAVE!" across the restaurant in front of everyone. I was completely shocked and at a loss for words. The hostess walked back up and I asked her if the manager was coming and she said "No, y'all can leave". My point wasn't to leave but to bring the lack of customer service to his attention and pay for what we had. Having been a manager before, I knew this was something that needed to be brought to his attention. After being told to leave I am still completely disgusted and will never return. The lack of customer service from the hostess, server and manager and the attitude from all three still amazes me. What kind of manager doesn't come up immediately to speak to an unhappy customer?
