This is one of the best massages I have ever had! I live in Los Angeles now - but I was born and raised in Milwaukee. I was home recently visiting family and I REALLY needed to get myself a massage. She listens to your body, finds the sore spots and knots, and takes care of each area as she comes across it. I was having trouble moving my arm a certain way without feeling a pinching pain - and I didn't think a massage would fix it - but Ab proved me very wrong. When I went in the first time, my neck and shoulders were in so much pain I could barely move them. A few days after my first massage with Ab, I felt almost 100% better. Since then, I try to schedule a massage as regularly as I can. When I go in now, I don't even need to explain to Ab what hurts and what doesn't. She knows her craft so well, she can feel where the pain is on her own. She also does not only offer deep tissue massage. She always mixes it up and tries to meet your needs. After you've gotten a massage at 20 or 30 different places, you can usually tell pretty quickly whether a massage therapist has the gift or not. Abi is one of the ones who does. With more delicate areas like my achilles tendon, she started lighter and then worked her way in, and with the knots around my shoulder blades she used a combination of her elbow and motion (ART style) to generate the perfect almost-too-painful-but effective level of pressure. If I lived in the area, I would definitely go back! Highly recommended for active, athletic people who need a more rigorous style of massage for muscle and fascia issues. I went to this one place looking for a different take on massages from a new massage therapist and found a masseuse where communication is key to getting what you need out of a massage. I have been to several massage places in and around Milwaukee and this is the best massage experience I have had yet. It is a bit difficult to find hidden on the fifth floor and taking the elevator takes your back to a nostalgic time before things were automatic. The cream city brick walls and high ceilings with wood beams to compliment them lets you know that the building they are housed in has been wonderfully restored. I am so incredibly thankful I started visiting Resting Place Massage! I first started because of a pinched nerve in my neck, which after a 30 minute visit was gone.
