Experience could not have been better. I reached out to Jason the owner by phone and text. He quickly replied via text because there is little cell phone coverage in Marble, CO. He was easy to work with on scheduling a time. When we arrived we wrapped up the paperwork quickly and gave us instructions on the brand new Kawasaki Terex 1000's. We rented a 4 seater and a two seater because we had 6 total in the group. We ran the 2.5 out/back to Crystal Mill. What an iconic site to see. Beautiful views up and back along the trail. We took our time stopping to eat lunch along the way and got back right in 2.5 hrs. 3 hrs would have been perfect because we were hustling at the end to get back, but not huge deal. We actually kept one of the keys mistakenly and didn't discover it until we were nearly an hour away. Jason was great about working with us and coming up with a very workable solution to get him the key back that didn't require he or our group going out of the way. Super good dude with a nice business right at the base of one of the most iconic views in the state of CO. Highly recommend using Jason if you're in the Glenwood Springs area and looking for a UTV riding experience. read more

We were extremely happy with out experience with Jason and RPS Rentals. Really a first class operation, from booking to orienting us on the route to the Crystal Mill. Our Kawasaki 2 seat UTV only had 40 miles on it and looked like it came off the showroom floor. That machine was incredible and handled that road to Crystal like nothing. Jason gave us a pre-marked map showing us the route and landmarks. He could also track us with gps to make sure we were proceeding along the route and not in any trouble. He was a wealth of information on the history of area and places of interest around the area. Jason is very professional and efficient. He had everything organized and there was never any surprises. Just a fantastic experience that is well worth the visit. Jason (owner) was great. Not your typical business, but he is very accommodating, so just reach out and give him an idea of dates and times you're looking at and he'll work with you. Usually responded very promptly, but always within a day when nailing down a date. The trip up the mountain to Crystal is jaw-dropping at every turn. And these machines make the trip very easy (as long as you take your time, go slow, and share the path). You'll see lots of folks along the way up and down from hikers to folks in Jeeps and other more capable road vehicles, but honestly I think these OHVs made the trip more exciting and it felt very safe. Jason has excellent, very low mileage, very well-maintained vehicles. Super easy to drive, and he goes over the basics with you before you go. Definitely give RPS a visit if you're anywhere nearby. And remember to be respectful of the folks in town and up in Crystal in your operation of vehicles in and around this road. Will 100% be back next time I'm in the area. read more

Opted for the four hour Lead King Basin trip that goes up above Crystal and the mill. We enjoyed working with Jason and learning about his family's four generation history in Marble. We called early in the morning to request an ATV and were told that there were plenty, but that the road to where we wanted to go (Crystal Mill) was blocked. He suggested driving up anyway as the road might be cleared by the time we got there. We arrived at about 1pm and he asked us to wait about fifteen minutes while he was finishing up with other guests. However, he motioned to a 4-seater (there were three of us with lots of photography equipment) and said we would be able to have that one. Twenty minutes later we asked about pricing and he said it would be 375 for an unguided tour but to leave him alone while he was writing something down. Finally he starts giving us more information, and as he's explaining hours and pricing another car pulls up to inquire about renting the same ATV but that he wants a guided tour (more $$$). Surprise: he magically no longer has an ATV for us. Not only did he not apologize, but he actually starting yelling at US when we showed frustration at he situation. He ended up screaming "Get out of here, get in your f***ing car and leave!" We decided to do the four mile hike with all our gear so we could photograph the Crystal Mill and surrounding areas, but it was a horrible experience trying to deal with Jason (the apparent owner of the company). He is unfortunately the only ATV rental in the area and so clearly hasn't learned customer service. If he had apologized for the inconvenience and had at least been nice about it I wouldn't have bothered writing this review. Absolutely awful. read more

Saw the couple very negative reviews (from past) and also the 5-star ones. All we can say is: 1) we are in NO way related or connected with RPS, 2) we are older seniors who were unfamiliar with ATVs/UTVs, and 3) we found Jason very easy to work with (communication with txt msgs seemed to work best). We wanted an experience away from the city (Denver) and this gave us that opportunity. Jason worked with us to get a suitable vehicle for our needs and experience, provided very detailed information regarding the trail, and talked with us afterwards regarding the trip. FYI, there is a company in Marble that does trips in their jeeps (i.e., they drive). We saw no one using them, but they seem available. In all, we were extremely happy working with Jason and using his vehicle. Would recommend to anyone and hope we get the chance to do the trip again (we did short trip to Crystal City, but would like to do the who loop next time). Hope everyone remembers that sometimes the image/demeanor one projects is what is returned from the other person. :-) read more

RPS Rentals Rock! With rain in the forecast one day and a low ceiling the next day, Jason was great to work with us to help make the most out of our trip. Based on his recommendation we ended up going out on a different day (due to weather) than we had originally planned - at no additional cost. The UTV (Polaris Ranger) that we rented was in like-new condition, exceptionally clean and easy to operate. Jason did a great job recommending photo ops, routes, etc... I have yo agree with Steven P. that Slow-Groovin BBQ is a great place to warm up, grab some great BBQ and a nice beer. Very surprised to see a place like that so far out in the mountains and enjoyed the good food and service. I would highly recommend RPS rentals if you are interested in renting from great people, renting a great ride and having a blast! read more

Lots of fun! Great vehicles and service! We've been to Marble many times just to camp and we finally decided rent the ATVs to see more of the area. It really was the highlight of all of our trips to Marble. The loop that the owner suggested was fantastic. It covered all of the Marble attractions without being too terribly difficult and took about four hours with lunch and photo stops. Originally we had reserved two four wheelers. Just before we were supposed to pick up our rental, our other friend cancelled so we figured we would be left paying for the unrented ATV, which would be fair considering we cancelled very last minute on a weekend. However, when we arrived that owner was extremely friendly and didn't make us pay for the ATV that we didn't end up taking. This was very kind of him and unexpected. We certainly appreciated it. However, I would doubt that this would always be the case. It was a slow weekend and he said it wouldn't have been rented out anyway. Either way, it was very nice of him to do that for us when charging us for two would have been totally fair. All in all, it was a great experience and we will certainly recommend them to anyone going to Marble. read more

This is by far the best unguided atvs rental service I know of in Colorado. The scenery in this area is gorgeous: 100ft drop-offs, crystal clear river views, massive aspen stands, flowering alpine meadows in the summer and the mill. WOW!!!!! Its out of the way but unforgettable, really remarkable scenery. Owner is very knowledgeable and sets you up to have a really fun time!!!! Highly recommend rps for an awesome trail day!!!! PS go to slow-groovin bbq afterwards for some crazy backwoods smokehouse bbq. Definitely did not expect to find that so far in the mountains!!!! read more

The guy, well, I will let you make up your mind. I sent a photo of Crystal Mill to a friend in Kentucky. She got so excited to see it that she drove out here to Western Colorado. I rode my BMW Dakar into the Mill before she got here, (I live just west of Marble) took more photos, and scouted to see if it was doable two up on the bike... Not a chance. Fun gnarly on the bike though. On my way out I stopped to talk to Jason and told him we would be back about the 21st to rent a machine, he told me he would have one and pointed out the type, and told me that it would be less expensive if I paid cash. I later sent him an email confirming the date. He wanted a card number either by email or over the phone. I don't do that, but sent him another email telling him the date and what time we would be there and that we would pay cash. I then called him a day or two before the 21st and left a message confirming. So, lots of contacts. He texts me that morning after we were on the road telling me he did not have a machine for us. I texted back saying we were on our way. We were headed to Marble anyway, so I drove into his parking lot, got out to let him know I was there. Often a good businessman who wants to provide good service will solve a problem like this. I arrive, he "conveniently" never got the confirmation email. He goes directly to "you screwed up and you are stupid". Really, he called me stupid. So let us say, I did not send the one email, but he acknowledged our verbal discussion and one email and the phone call. So what sort of businessman goes directly to "you screwed up and you are stupid" A defensive one who screwed up likely as not. In addition, I came in in a long bed Ford F250 extended cab with a camper on it. He said, "take your truck in, it is only $500 to tow it out". Now, he knew I had been in the week before on my moto, and knew that my Ford was not the machine to take in, so, why did he say such a stupid thing? mmm... defensive and knew it. So, when my wife brings back my lifted GMC Canyon we will go into the Mill, but, I would never give Jason a penny. What you do is your business. And heck, if you are considering renting from Jason and paying him hundreds of dollars, if I am available I will give you a ride in and all you have to do is buy me lunch at SlowGroovin barbeque in Marble. read more

In July, we visited Colorado, and one of our stops was to Crystal Mill. We had originally planned to hike out there, but after a few days of very intense hiking elsewhere in Colorado, when we got to Marble, we were a bit too exhausted to do the rigorous hike out to Crystal Mill. We went to RPS to see if we could do a last minute rental, and the owner was incredibly helpful and set us up with an awesome ATV. It was a new ATV, and it ran beautifully. It allowed us to fully enjoy traveling out to Crystal Mill while recharging. Taking an ATV out to the Mill was an amazing experience! When I politely pointed out where the miscommunication occurred (hoping to prevent the same confusion from happening with future clients), he sent me a snarky reply in return. My wife and I looked into renting ATVs from multiple rental places and went with RPS rentals due to the reviews. Originally reserved for a Saturday. Torrential down pour in the morning but we still went to the place thinking we would be charged. Without any hassle Jason offered to reschedule without penalty. My 13 year old son and I went to Colorado for a few days. This was the highlight of our trip for both of us. We are novices but the ATV was very easy to operate. The trail is not well marked but fairly well worn. Breathtaking scenery. Riding through small streams was a blast! Also, it was hot in Colorado when we were there, so being in the higher elevation kept us cool. We were actually above snow patches at times. I would highly recommend this. We debated between an ATV and a UTV. The ATV was new (2014) and large so it suited our needs. Bring gloves! Bring snacks and water. I let my 13 year old drive and he did great. I rented a Polaris Ranger and returned it 4 hours later. Unfortunately my dog broke the tailgate cable which is a $10 part because the other cable was already broken and the tailgate was barely reinforced. After I was told to not worry about it the guy charges my credit card the next day without notifying me and said that I broke something else. Jekyl and Hyde. After I brought this to his attention he continued to call me and yell profanity for 3 more messages. People in my party were appauled. Only use cash and take photos of your machines prior to renting just for your proof. We asked around town and there has also been other similar issues. Apparently he is the only ATV rental company except Ouray and Moab. At least that's what he kept yelling in the messages. Go somewhere else! read more
