Snowmobiling is a must here! Took the family here and we had an amazing time with the most incredible views I've ever seen and our tour guides (Caleb and Taylor) completely made the experience come alive with stops along the way to share historical facts about the town and explain the sights. I would highly recommend requesting them as your guides, if possible! So worth the money!! P.s. the hot chocolate at the top of the trail is a nice perk too! read more

Had a great time doing the 4hr guided lunch ride to the pyramid base. The scenery was incredible and the overall feel was awe inspiring... We stopped in a beautiful meadow to eat lunch, take it all in and just enjoy the moment. Can't say enough about our guide, Mr Nick, he was fantastic..! Mr Nick took good care of us, the horses, taught us some history of the trail and made everyone feel right at home... Overall, I would love to have given the service 5 stars but have to ding them on the price. I've done rides like this before and the pricing nearly put us off, as well as the automatic 20% gratuity that they added without letting me know in advance... While I'd love to do it again, and would definitely have tipped Mr Nick generously, it's off putting when the cost is pretty exuberant, then to add a large gratuity without being told or having the guides earn it... read more

Amazing Dinner Ride! Our group of 8 arranged for the dinner ride and had the most amazing time! Amber called and scheduled our ride and menus and it was truly perfect! Our guides Megan and Greg were so knowledgeable and fun. They made sure we had a good time. The horses know where they are going so it's great for all levels of riders. The best part... it's BYOB! Chef Eric had the table set and Charcuterie ready for us when we finished our ride. He waited until we were ready before he threw the steaks on the girl too. Just awesome service! You leave your car keys with the front desk before the ride and they bring your cars up to the dinner spot so don't have to bus down when the ride is over. Very very disappointed. Took our grandchildren and children riding with the understanding it was a beautiful ride to see Maroon Bells and a lake. There are NO Maroon Bells, NO lake, many trees and rocks and a few puddles of water, but the trail they take you on has no view and is pretty insulated from the beauty of the mountains. The guide is on his cell the majority of the time so there is no interaction unless you request or have a question. They describe this as a "you will see the best of Maroon Bells and a lake" so we chose to not buy the ticket because we were going to ride close by...that is extremely misleading. Probably the worst part is the horses are filthy! My husband has been a horseman for over 60 years and he couldn't believe that they would not at least brush these babies before we rode! Felt as if all we were doing was giving them a little exercise for a lot of money! On top of everything.... THEY ASK FOR A 20% GRAT BEFORE YOU EVEN SADDLE UP!! Who does that? Someone that's very unsure of themselves! HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED! Find another Ranch! read more

I went on a 1 1/2 hour trail ride with Maroon Bells at the end of May this year and I loved it. First of all when you get there the staff takes COVID-19 measures very seriously, they are all wearing masks. Beside the check-in desk is a table with I think to wash your hands and hand sanitizer. They also have a clean bathroom facility that you can use. You can take your mask off once you get on the horse. The horses are very beautiful and you can tell they were well taken care of. They could tell I was a little nervous at first, so they gave me a horse named River, who honestly was the sweetest horse. That day they didn't have as many clients, so myself and my two sons were the only three people on the trip. The guide, forgot his name, was so nice and told you about the area as you went on the ride. I had a whole bunch of questions about the area too and he answered all of them. The scenery in that area is so beautiful! The guide even stopped the horses a few times To get off his horse and take pictures of us with our cell phone. That was super thoughtful and beyond what I thought that he would do. We felt well cared for on the trip, and that is the most important thing. it was an amazing time. The price of the ride was higher than other horse rides I have going on recently, but in the end I would definitely go there again in a heartbeat, and would highly recommend this business! read more

This horse back riding tour was awesome. It was only a 25 min drive from our hotel in Aspen. The entire crew was very friendly and the horses were so well trained and beautiful. We did the 2 hour trail and the sites were gorgeous even behind the smoke due to the fires. The trail has steep climbs up and steep climbs down so be prepared. Our guide Greg was very friendly and took many pictures of us. This is an experience I highly recommend. read more

Absolutely breathtaking! What an experience... Horseback riding in the Aspens, is there anything more majestic?! I think not!! We arrived 30 minutes early for our scheduled ride time. Our tour guide picked horses based on it weight and anxiety level. My mom being the lightest and most nervous was given Bob to ride. I ride Susie Q, being kind of nervous and medium weight. And my dad got the Duke!! Duke was a big white horse and later we found that he was a little feisty lol Anyway they had lots of staff members there to help us get up on the horses- which I think getting off and on was the hardest part actually lol Once we were on our guide (Megan) went over how to handle the horses. She went over the basics; how to make the horse speed up, stop, turn and what to do if they horse stopped to eat grass lol Susie Q was well-behaved and Bob seemed to be as well. We went on the trail and oh by was it fun! And the scenery was so pretty! Riding through the forest next to the stream of water. It was so peaceful. It was a little scary on areas where the path got small and there were trees hitting your knees and branches whipping your face if you weren't paying attention lol When going uphill you lean forward to help your horse manage and when going down lean back and push your feet into the saddles. It was great and Megan was a wonderful tour guide. At the end it was a little hairy; some random horses approached ours and Bob, Susie Q, and Duke (especially Duke) did not like that one bit. All three horses became uneasy and Duke wanted to jump the fence. Luckily though the other horses left and we made it safe without any issues. If you're in Aspen or close by if definitely recommend the Maroon Bells horseback riding!! read more

First time horseback riding with the Maroon Bells Guides. I booked my ride awhile ago because I was out here for my sister's wedding and it was my boyfriend's first time to Colorado. I wanted to have him fall in love with my home and knew horseback riding was a must for our activities. We had an amazing time horseback riding and I absolutely fell in love with my horse Scout! Great ride ! Gorgeous horses and beautiful scenery! Highly recommend! We had so much fun!

We had an absolutely amazing ride with Amelia, Megan and Chad. Amelia went over all the safety concerns and how to "steer" the horses, prior to leaving the parking lot. They really accommodate the rider's concerns, such as who is nervous and needs a "bomb broke" horse to carry them. The horses were very well fed, fit and happy! (Not tired and worn out like some outfits I have encountered.) We rode thru wildflower meadows, across streams, ambled thru Aspen groves, shinnied up cliffs and past the fourteener, Pyramid Peak: And that was before reaching the gem, Maroon Bells! Then we enjoyed our box lunch, at the Maroon Bells. The weather was an absolutely beautiful, sunny (70 degree?) day. Along the way, we encountered a deer, which surprised some of the horses, just a little. At one point, we had to cross a two lane road: That is when the only other animal we ran into was one on a bicycle, and he was totally unaware and unconcerned that the horses had the right of way. Lucky for the riders that; at least the horses had a brain! Well, the day became even more memorable when the clouds rolled in and the weather "turned on a dime". We started noticing snowflakes falling, then pea size hail and then it all turned to rain. The horses were all carrying rain slickers for their riders, so we just halted and put them on. First, I believe they now go by the name, "Lazy-7-Ranch". Certainly same location. UNBELIEVABLE RIDE! From the great communication with Noel to our wrangler Autumn, a 'real-life rodeo-queen'. This ride not only fulfilled but exceeded our high expectations! Class operation who take great care of their animals. Even though I grew up on the edge of the city of Chicago/Norridge, I was in an area that still had 4 stables until the mid-1970's. Ok, I also parlayed my three lawn mowing jobs as a kid to bet on the horses (via parents) at Maywood Pk, Sportmans Pk and Al Capones Hawthorne Race Track. Thus feel qualified to comment as such. When I called and left a message, Noel would play phone tag and never took more than one hour to reply as to what we were looking for. When we pulled in that morning and Noel saw my Soundgarden shirt, she said she was still mourning the loss of Chris Cornell as we are.... Autumn is the quintessential wrangler. Frequently checking back with my wife and I on our own personally guided tour. She is fund of knowledge and the consummate professional. Wife rode "Shorty" and I had "Pepper", beautiful well trained and cared for horses. Will do it again next trip out west. read more

We arrived at Maroon Bells Guide and Outfitters a little after 9am in order to fill out waivers etc prior to our scheduled ride at 10am. The man behind the desk told me we weren't scheduled until 2:00pm. Originally we had booked the 12:00pm ride however I called two days before our ride date asking if we could switch to the Maroon Bells ride. Unfortunately that ride was not available so he offered another tide that began at 10am. The person on the phone was very helpful, took our lunch order and sent me an email confirmation of the new booking. I explained this to the man behind the desk and attempted to show him the email confirmation. He wanted to know the name of the man on the phone I spoke with, which I did not know. Regardless of who was working that day I was sent a confirmation but he did not want to see it. The man behind the desk was not helpful at all. He asked what I ordered for lunch and I let him know. He told me I could only order sandwiches with meat and not a veggie only sandwich. No big deal, we ordered turkey. He continued to tell me we weren't scheduled until 2pm. He then abruptly left the desk and disappeared behind a door. He NEVER returned to finish checking us in or to greet/help the party behind us. 10 minutes later someone else came out asking if they could help us. I explained what had happened and the disappearing act we had all witnessed. I was then checked in with no further challenges nor any apologies. We were beginning to dread booking a ride with this company. The staff was not friendly and pretty much ignored us and the party that arrived after us. We were not given any instructions or details of what was going to happen. We paid for the trail ride along the river that was scheduled to begin at 10am. At approximately 10:30 after we sat around and watched people load the horses into a trailer, we were greeted by our guide, Jo. She let us know the horses being loaded were ours and we were to follow her in our car to the park entrance. Once we parked, Jo unloaded the horses and assigned us our horses. She helped my group and the other group get on our horses and went over a few details about our ride and how to control the horses. The ride was beautiful and more amazing than we could have imagined. Jo was an excellent guide and very personable. She is very experienced which made both of our groups feel comfortable. Despite the office chaos and unfriendliness we initially received, Jo made up for it and the ride was breathtaking. The horses are in good shape as well. Excellent experience during a 2-hour ride with my family, incldungi two young boys.

The 4 of us did the 2 hr ride (along with 4 other people and the guide). We enjoyed this very much (two 16 yr olds, a 23 yr old and a 54 yr old). The trail was absolutely beautiful and followed alongside Maroon Creek. We had done horseback riding last summer in Hawaii, but this was much better because of the scenery and because the trail was a little more challenging than just plodding along on flat, open ground. None of us are experienced riders really, but the horses are well-trained and the guide is good with giving directions and leading. It was very enjoyable and we were all glad we did it. It would get 5 stars if it was a little cheaper and if the return ride was a different path back. Also, they don't pick you up like a lot of the places. You have to get your own transportation to the stable. read more

2 hr ride out of the T lazy 7 ranch was in very rocky but beautiful terrain. Horses were rather wide and very safe but on the slow and plodding side. Ride went out and back in the same path so less scenery was seen overall. Our guide was not very talkative so the ride was quiet but it would have been nice to learn something about the area. read more

The guides were great - Chuck &Amelia. The path is good but they use same path on way back so Less scenery. Be cautious - they charge you the tip of 20% up front before they provide service or start the ride. If that is the case make it part of the service fee then and disclose it to customers. Also, no cancellation disclosure was provided when reservation was made. read more

We had a great ride with Amelia as our guide. She was friendly and informative. It was obvious how much she loves her job and cares about the horses. We did the dinner ride and ended with a delicious meal at the end of the ride. Everyone we met -- from Amelia, to the owner who prepared the meal, to the girl at the desk -- were all personable. The trail itself is narrow and rocky but that isn't really unusual for the Rocky Mountains. The trail is pretty as it follows the creek nearly the whole way and is often shaded by trees. I especially loved the part where we came into a grove of aspen trees close to the trail. Beautiful! Bonus -- we saw a moose! read more

What a wonderful experience. My husband and I took the lunch ride to the Maroon Bells. We were in a small group of six riders with Chuck, our guide. Our horses were personally selected based on our experience levels. I was very happy with my horse. All the horses were obviously well-cared for, fit and sure-footed. The scenery was magnificent and we rode more than half of the ride through the aspens and evergreens. This was a relief because the sun is very intense there. The website is very good helpful with suggestions like bring wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, etc. The packed picnic was good and the rest stop at the lake at Maroon Bells was a great photo opportunity. read more

Every time we visit Aspen, my daughter goes horse back riding at T Lazy 7 horse ranch at Maroon Creek. This visit was short visit so I decided to make book two days in the row. First day, my daughter was the only person riding at 11:30 and she had a great time riding in the wilderness for 20 mins. We said good bye and said see you tomorrow to Megan who was taking care of the horse and Brian who is the owner of the horse ranch. Following day, we came by the ranch and there were about 6 people trying to go on the tour. I tried to get attention to the lady at the counter but Megan interrupted and they both went to the back of the office to discuss something. I just immediately had strange vibe. Megan saw us and did not greet us and completely ignored all of us. The lady at the counter came by and said "I'm sorry but we don't have a horse for your daughter to ride. Can you come back in 2 hours? You can speak to Brian who is the owner". They probably gave my daughter's horse to others who are going on the tour so that they can make more money. But I decided to wait to see what owner had to say about all of this. I waited for about 20 minutes for Brian to come out from his house. He came out right after everyone left on the tour. He admitted he did wrong and tried to offer us free comp. I was very disappointed the way they treated us. Especially they got such a great reviews from a lot of people. T Lazy 7 horse ranch is bad customer service and I don't recommend it. read more
