I'm not one to name and shame when it comes to small business, many small businesses are doing it…read moretough so I have thought long and hard before I leave this review. However, my recent experience with the Adelaide Hills Pet Resort was so terrible that I am sharing this as I would not want my friends or family to be treated the way we have been treated. We have been loyal customers of theirs since 2009 and in that time we have easily spent in the order of $10,000. We've always supplied our own dog food as our dogs have a special diet, and never once asked for a discount on their fees even though they are not supplying food (which is a part of their fee). Their customer service has never been anything to write home about, but I always felt confident that my dogs were well looked after so I overlooked it. In January this year we made a booking for our dogs to stay for 25 days across June and July (the last few days fall in school holidays). I rang in May to confirm my booking and to advise that we were going to be home on a Thursday rather than a Saturday. They advised they have a strict no change of booking policy in school holidays so I accepted I'd have to pay for the stay, however I asked during the phone call whether we could make negotiations about the Saturday as they are charging me for a full day but required me to pick up the dogs by 1pm due to their business hours on that day. They advised they'd get back to me. What followed was an email exchange which still leaves me stunned (I've included parts of it below). The first part I was ok with... "Yes, Clients certainly can, and do, utilise the full day boarding fee on Saturdays. They pick up on Sunday morning at no charge for Sunday if pets are picked up between 8.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m". My first thought was, fair enough, we'll pick them up Sunday morning. But then I kept reading and was genuinely shocked. I've copied part of the response below... "No business can please or cater to 100% of client requests 100% of the time and we apologise that our open hours, our peak season terms and charging system do not meet your expectations. Please forward your bank account details to me : your bank's BSB number, your account number and the full name of the bank account by email today. We are refunding your deposit and will issue you with a copy of the bank payment by email and you will be able to make a booking with another facility to suit your dates". They cancelled my booking. No discussion entered into, no phone call, no nothing. After 7 years of custom they decided to terminate our booking because we asked a question (we were not nasty in anyway, just simply asked the question given we had to return early due to unforeseen family circumstances). We never suggested we'd cancel our booking. In fact, we had accepted we'd be paying for the extra two days. Clearly they don't feel they need the business and I can only guess that they took this stance in hope we'd not find anywhere else and we'd be left without care for our dogs. I can't imagine any other business operating like this. I think it's fair to say we won't be recommending them anytime soon.

This truly is a pet resort!…read more 1) Care in custody - I am confident that the staff truly care for the pets that they look after. My pets (one dog and two cats) are always well adjusted and happy after staying there. They seem calm and well cared for - including healthy and happy. 2) Clean and well maintained premises - an excellent indicator is the state of the premises. And the Adelaide Hills Pet Resort is in top notch condition, clean and well maintained. 3) High end - If you are looking for high end premises for your pets then look no further. They have suites which are a luxury for your pet - rooms in the main building with all the things you could wish for your cat or dog - like actual beds with plenty of space and play toys and scratching post and extra hidey-holes (and so much more!). And if you are on a budget they have roomy and well maintained and clean spaces undercover at more reasonable and budget conscious rates. 4) Loads of extras - I love the extras they offer! They will give your pets daily walks, grooming, games, obedience lessons, special attention and more. 5) Diets - Plus, they cater for special diets and will make the extra effort to cook special treats. 6) Staff - But I think the best thing about this business is the staff. They really know what they are doing and the genuinely care about animals. They have helped me with handy tips and suggested things I might want to raise with my vet. Further, the staff have been constant for the last 6 years I have been taking my pets there, so they know them very well and can provide insight that spans years. This business has my highest recommendation. 5 stars!

I brought Chester here for his annual vaccination ( proudly adopted him from the RSPCA) and John immediately took over Chester, talking to him calmly ( too cute!) and did the basic steps of taking his weight, checking his eyes, body and so forth. Booster shots given and with a clean bill of health, we finalised the necessary payment and commended Dr. John for a great consultation. The reception is usually manned by one staff who is well trained and I was extremely happy when she displayed knowledge on booster shots for adult cats. Clean and spotless premises with a great doctor and friendly staff on board.

They didn't have heaps of little/young puppies and these were the only 2 we really liked. So a lady that worked there opened the cage and let us go in with them. She came up to us stright away and was so inquisitive. So we decided to get her. Well apparently since we had a dog already we were required to go home and get our existing dog and bring it up to the RSPCA to be put inside a larger enclosure with us AND the new puppy we wanted. If all was ok THEN we could buy the dog. Well all went well and we walked out with a new puppy :-) Considering you get a desexed and vaccinated animal, and in fact mine was even microchipped (which also saves money on dog registration each year with my council) it is really cheap as there is a set price for a dog, cat and rabbit. So it doesn't matter which one you choose or what breed it is, which is great. They have an excellent website where you can view pets they have available at the shelter. They also have boarding kennels and a cattery if you have to go away. I even noticed a horse in one of the area's this time I went.

They will not address issues but instead are more than happy to insult you . I placed an order, my tracking shows it's been delivered, but not to me. I brought my concerns to the owner(?) and rather than work with me to resolve what was happening, they completely ignored the actual issue at hand and harped on about everything but why my tracking is showing delivered to a PO and not my address. I sent screenshots , didn't even get an acknowledgement that something has obviously happened with the parcel/tracking. I'm under the impression that they feel like by not addressing the actual issue that means it doesn't exist. I asked for a refund , denied that as they had sent my parcel (even though it never arrived to it's destination) . Honestly, never again , because if anything goes wrong it seems they will instantly get on the defensive and make no attempt to actually fix the problem. I'm shocked at how they've behaved but also embarrassed for this business that they would be acting in such a way to their customers.

This is not a pet shelter as in rescued pets. This is a rare facility and service, and not for…read moreeveryone, but definitely well supported and loved by a particular elite breed of canine. Dog City Day Care is for those dogs who require a life less idle; dogs who are looking to occupy their minds while their master is at work. Dogs who do not wish to spend day in and day out sitting around the home with nothing to do. They require companionship and another bottom to sniff besides their own. If you have a dog who doesn't like to be left home, this day care facility for dogs is really very good. It gives your canine friend a pack to run and play with as well as a present and accountable human being who acts as the top dog for the whole time your pooch is placed here. This top dog human means no fights break out because there is always a masterful guiding voice keeping tabs on who is doing what to whom. It really is a great service if you don't want to leave the dog home every day but have a busy life and can not find the time to keep your precious pooch as pampered and busy as yourself. Let's say you own a big dog that needs a lot of exercise, but you also have a demanding job that sees you at work almost twenty four seven some times. What happens to the dog? Well it may get bored and start to behave badly as a result - but if you drop it off at Dogcity Daycare it will be busy socialising with other dogs. You can purchase a range of items for your dog when you drop them off or pick them up from their day of socialising and stimulating interplay - things like chews and pigs ears... and the friendly staff will let you know if your best friend has behaved well - which of course under the circumstances he or she probably has. It is a terrific service for the right owners and dogs.

And the experience I had was amazing! Dropping Harold off to the care of strangers is a little nerve-racking as Bulldogs have special needs, however the friendly team at Dogcity let me know that he was in safe hands and that I would receive updates during the day, reassured, I left feeling confidant Harold was going to have a great day! The energy and excitement in the centre was amazing, you could really tell that these people love what they do. Before I left for work, I had a look through the viewing window and Harold was already running a muck with his new friends. The thing that took this experience from good to brilliant, was the level of personalised communication I received. During the day, "Harold" sent me a text message with some photos of his new friends (who knew dogs had such skills!): Hi Mum, My new friends have let me borrow the work phone so that I could send you a message; I told them that I'm fine and would rather keep playing, but they've said that it's always important to let Mum's know. Apparently you guys worry about us or something. I'm having the best time. Heston is here and we've both been body slamming. They have a bunch of tennis balls here too, so I've been slobbering over all of those and carrying them around. There are two Huskies, Ace and TJ, who like playing with tennis balls also, so we've been having a great time together. I hope you're having a good day, but I doubt it's as fun as mine - ha! See you later, Love Harold The communication didn't stop there, the team at Dogcity also sent me an extensive "First Day Pawgress Report" When I went to pick Harold up, he was one pooped out pup! The owner took the time to have a chat and let me know how Harold went during the day. Overall, there are a few things that made this experience one that truly stand out, these people LOVE what they do and they make their customers feel so valued with the personalised communication. It's safe to say we will be back!
