You can take the light rail (train), bus, or even the Bustang to and from here. Never heard of the Bustang, but it is a bus service that travels between Denver and Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, and other cities. I parked on E. Layton Ave. since it was closest to the tunnel where the art is at instead of in the Park-n-Ride lot. This lot has around 50+ spots. You'll have to check the signage to see if you need to pay or not. If you can find street parking, it is free for up to 2 hours. Other options are nearby parking garages that are free for the first 3 hours, but then will cost you ($25 max). Since I only came here to see the art installation in the tunnel, it suited my needs to park on the street. "Thunder Over The Rockies" by Richard Elliott, Commissioned by RTD art-N-Transit 2006. It's located in the pedestrian tunnel north of the station. The material of choice are road reflectors; about 4,000 of them! The colors are red, yellow, blue, green, and white. I'm not sure what time of day or night is best. I went in the afternoon. It was not sunny out. I found it a little difficult to see the reflectors "lit up". It was neat to see the geometric designs making great use of what would be just a dreary tunnel. It has native influences in the mosaic art. According to the RTD website, this is "The first reflectorized art tunnel in the world:" I would have taken the train or bus to any other station, but time didn't permit. It would have been cool to see all 30 art installations in the Denver area! You can ride free during July & August because of the "Zero Fare for Better Air" Campaign.

It gives you great walking access to the north end of DTC as well as access to route 27 right at the station. They are currently working on a public works project nearby so there is some dirt moving and construction vehicles on site but nothing to hamper getting to and from. E and F lines both make a stop here...$4.00 from here to downtown...right to Union Station or closer to the convention center

This was my second experience and it did not disappoint. The views out the train windows are spectacular as your train winds around the mountain and you get to see a waterfall and the river rushing by! Cowboys and ladies are all dressed up to give you an experience that you'll remember for a long time! There is free parking that it can get crowded so get there at least 30 minutes early maybe more and buy your ticket ahead of time as they sometimes sell out day of.

Tickets are around $35 per person, only a few bucks off for my man under two which felt like a cash grab, but what are you gonna do? If you're visiting from a place where there aren't mountains, this will blow you away. But even for us locals here, the views are pretty stunning! Some are lackluster depending on which side you're seated on, you might be directly up against rocks, haha. But when it opens up, wow, just wow! PRO TIP: even if you have your QR code ticket, you MUST go inside to receive your physical paper tickets. They will not let you on the train otherwise! The novelty is there and as much as I appreciate it, I think maybe it's time to arrive in 2026. Worth the price of admission, in my opinion. Far from perfect and at times a little kitschy, but if you go with a positive attitude you'll see some spectacular views of our beautiful state!

This review is mainly about the "Harmonic Pass: Denver" by Christopher Janney, Commissioned by RTD…read moreart-N-Transit. This art is listed among his other "Urban Musical Instruments". It was installed in 2006. I couldn't find much information about this online. There's a riddle you're supposed to solve ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/rtd-southmoor-station-denver?select=hVUIr1N8WBWyO1l8-tTvig ) and walk by the speakers in an order. Since I was only going to be here one time, I wanted to be sure I activated the speakers correctly to create the sounds in order so I could hear the melodic tune. Don't think I was successful... People are constantly on their way to or from the station and have to walk through this tunnel. The cacophony of noises emanating from the speakers was music to my ears for the short time I heard it. I can see how it might be bothersome to some people. It was sporadically busy during the entire time I was there. I was getting stared at because I was trying to activate the speakers and record the sounds. I was probably in the way of travelers. Some of the pillars play bells ringing and others play sounds from nature like birds squawking & chirping. TIP: You need to pass by fairly close to the speakers to activate them. Just as I was about to give up, a nice sequence of dings, chirps, squawks, & bells began to play! I think the "Art" had mercy on me or it was programmed to play at certain intervals. I was happy no matter the case! ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/rtd-southmoor-station-denver?select_video=T5lK28lo7pp8eZOjPIICcw ) As for the station, this is the Southmoor Station. It's located on S. Monaco Pkwy. Light Rail trains & buses are the mode of transportation here. This is a Park n Ride. If you are catching a bus, you just catch it from near the parking lot. If you are catching a train, you need to go down the stairs or ramp, through the tunnel, and go up the stairs or take the elevator to get to the platform. The tunnel crosses underneath the I-25. I would have taken the train or bus to any other station, but time didn't permit. It would have been cool to see all 30 art installations in the Denver area! I don't much like walking in the tunnel but in broad daylight I felt ok. I had to wait for another train as the one I wanted to take was pulling away as I came up the stairs. There are some weird acting people who wait at this station. Made me feel uncomfortable and I watched them. One of them came too close and I made sure to not have my back to him. I feel like the atmosphere in the trains has changed with the free rides in August and I don't plan to ride anymore. Luckily the location I work at is different for a while and I can drive.
