    RTLA blocked.

I attended RTLA about 3 years ago. The minute I stepped foot into RTLA I felt the presence of God, I felt at home. The entire bilingual service was amazing. I had attended a couple Christian churches before but I knew this one was different for the better. After attending for almost 6 months I stopped attending due to an incident with my child. I went to a mid week service and my child was fussing a little like most toddlers do, she was 1 1/2 at the time. I had a lady tell me I had to go in to the child room and my child didn't like staying in there so I told her nicely no thank you. Within like 15 mins she told me I had to go because my daughter was being too loud. I knew I was park inside the parking lot which meant other cars were behind me and in front of me, I figured it would be so disrespectful to bother the people blocking me in the middle of service so I mentioned it to her. Well she had no problem disturbing the other people so I would just leave, so I did. I never returned after that. I didn't want to write a review back then, I thought well it's church I shouldn't talk bad upon them they are only trying to serve God. But recently I had something happen which really bothered me coming from people who worship and serve there. Which brought me to leave my Yelp review now. I continued to follow RTLA on Instagram, watched some of the services online. I felt like the pastor was a great leader and I loved his way of speaking to us about God and our faith. Also I always like the lead worshiper she was a great singer and I admired her as a women. Well as I continued to follow on social media I realized an acquaintance began to worship there, no bad blood we are all human beings and as I believed all believers of forgiveness and peace, so I continued to follow. If we had one thing in common now, it was that we are both God believers. Knowing her past I was happy to see she found God again and even contacted her regarding the fact that I used to attend the same church and I loved it. Well eventually I looked for RTLA on social media and I was blocked (from the church social media!) and this is why I am writing my Yelp review. I don't know who is in charge of RTLA social media but to block someone from hearing the word of God due to I'm assuming personal reasons completely shook me. It made me open my eyes to both situations I encountered and realized RTLA isn't open to accepting people unless they are part of their own crowd. They aren't believers of forgiveness and acceptance. Blocking from personal accounts is something completely different, but blocking from God (because that's how I see it) is very shameful. And you should be ashamed of letting your church clique do this. I continued to follow because I believed one day I would give RTLA another chance, and this completely disappointed me and I will definitely NEVER return to RTLA. I was sadden to realize that RTLA proved to be just like all the other stereotypical Christian churches who gossip and form cliques. SHAME ON RTLA! May God heal RTLA and the leaders and worshipers from any bad/negative energy, resentment, and regret they still carry in their hearts.

We are…read morea Christian couple in our 40s and 50s with a 9 year old daughter, and here is what we love about the church: 1) The band and the music is amazing. We are fans of Christian rock and we are so impressed by the talent and passion of the musicians. We can't help but feel the spirit and sing, dance and sometimes cry along. 2) The kids program is the best in the Westside. There is a four story kids building on the campus and the teachers make it fun with games, video Biblical stories, crafts and meaningful write-ups for children to engage. 3) The church is very welcoming. Every Sunday, new members are encouraged to register and connect. The church then invites you to a welcome lunch with the pastor and to join a small group or topic based event / prgoram. We just signed up for a 3 month Sacred Marriage Group. One of the volunteers also took us for a tour of the church and campus on our first visit, and there is coffee available for the community. After the music portion, you are asked to greet and get to know someone new next to you. It's very sweet and Community oriented. 4) The sermons are action-oriented and based in biblical stories and teachings. We are given a way to reflect and take action each week, which is a nice way to absorb the learnings from the sermon. I do like the Biblical readings and translations and would love even more of this because I feel the Biblical teachings ground us in the source substance and weight. We look forward to experiencing more and are grateful to have found a gentle and spiritual home for our family

Pastor Jason is truly brilliant. They are constantly giving opportunities to meet others also. For many years (20+) I didn't go to church at all until I found JOF and fell in love. We moved away and miss this church so much and sometimes make the long drive to come back. We went for about 18 months every Sunday. I simply cannot believe other people on here gave it a bad review, so odd. The worship is incredible and if you're coming in late you're really missing the chance to be properly warmed up to hear the message!!

I was looking forward to attending a women's retreat and connecting with a new community during a challenging time in my life. Unfortunately, my experience trying to sign up was disappointing and left me feeling discouraged. I was told (by Nicole) I needed to attend a Sunday service before receiving the retreat signup link, which felt more like a barrier than an invitation. While I understand churches have processes, the way the conversation was handled left me feeling overwhelmed, uncomfortable, and unwelcome especially after I had openly shared that I was going through a lot. I shared with Nicole how I was feeling in the moment, but didn't receive any follow up or encouragement afterward. I personally host women's events, and I would NEVER interact with someone this way, especially when they are coming in vulnerable and seeking community. My hope is that churches remember how important it is to lead with warmth and compassion, especially when someone is reaching out in need. I'm grateful my faith is strong, but I can imagine how an experience like this could impact someone who is new or searching. I've prayed about sharing this and ultimately chose to speak up, not to tear anyone down, but to advocate for myself and for others who may be seeking support and community.
