Been here three times and consistently the food has been great! Some of the best Curry in town. The Thai Basil Stir Fry is spicy deliciousness and they has this amazing salad dressing that I wish I could replicate at home. Only issue I have had is the tables state 10% off with cash purchases. They do not give you a receipt with prices and they do not give you a detailed receipt after the you have paid either. For most that's not a big deal, but I am a little OCD when money is involved. Excellent service and excellent, authentic Thai food. This was our first time at Ruan Thai and the food was right on spot! We had Fresh Springs Rolls which were generous and delicious and the sauces which came with were excellent. My husband had Spicy Stir Fry Rice, a generous and appropriately spiced treat. Brought my wife in for lunch and food was not great, not fresh tasted old and re heated only thing that was good was coconut shrimp. I took one buy of my meal and asked for the check. Really good place, been here before it doesn't disappoint. The decor is nice and the staff are generally friendly. If you're looking for big servings this is the place for you, large menu with a lot of options. Close to my favorite Skateshop so I always have a great option to eat after a sesh. To be fair, their food is actually fairly good. If I were grading this place based on the quality of their cooking, I'd rate them 3 or 4 stars. That's not the problem. The smaller issue with Ruan Thai is their seating is cramped and the whole place seems kinda dingy, which belies their pricing, which is incommensurate with hole-in-the-wall dining. The larger issue is their staff are ... less than friendly. At best, they're brusque; at worst, they're outright unfriendly - and don't make the mistake, as I did, of mistakenly coming in before they open. Unlike most businesses, they don't seem to understand the idea of keeping the doors locked until they're open for business - and the guy inside was extraordinarily rude, to the point where he was borderline physically threatening and followed me out into the parking lot when I was leaving. I've never seen him in previous visits, so I don't know if it was a cook or something, but this place would be out of business in a week if he was the one dealing with customers on a regular basis. read more

I really like this place for a nice hot meal. In terms of the quality of their food it's a no brainer, they're one of the best in the Ogden area. The only reason I can't justify giving this place a full five star review is due to the fact that there service is not always that great. The service is absolutely fantastic when the owner is there, when he's not, it's slow at best. The service is really hit or miss with these guys. So if you have got time to kill it's an awesome place to have incredible Thai cuisine, if you're in a rush I recommend going elsewhere. read more

Very disappointing. The food was not the quality I read in other reviews. I am not sure how the high marks are possible. I chose this restaurant by its rating because I am from out of town and wanted some reliable help. The spring rolls were not cold which made me wonder if they had been refrigerated properly. The waitress was not friendly or helpful by any measure, very abrupt. The salad I ordered was extremely salty and soggy. My companion had her food redone. We decided to try this restaurant because it had good yelp reviews. Our experience was not at all what we expected. The service was lacking - water not refilled, waitress did not come back to check if the food was satisfactory, did not offer a box for leftovers, did not offer dessert -just brought the food and then the check. The veggie plate was lukewarm and the tofu was watery and cold. We had to flag the waitress down to ask to have a new order of tofu that was hot. No apology - she just brought the tofu. read more

I was really disappointed with our food from here. The yellow curry we got looked like the sauce had broken -- it was gloopy and oddly textured. The peanut sauce was similarly odd. We ordered spring rolls, and when our delivery came they'd sent us four orders instead of just one. Normally I'd be fine with accidentally getting sent extra food, but there were WAY too many for two of us to eat, and they were mediocre at best. This is a hidden gem - I crave this place regularly! Delicious food and fast, friendly service. Some of the very best Thai I have had. Their massaman curry is especially fabulous, but all of the curries are really very good. My husband really likes the pad see ewe as well. I haven't tried anything here that I haven't loved. The salad has the yummiest dressing I have ever tasted - no joke! It is that good! The rice is all-you-can-eat; they will keep refilling it as often as you request. I went to Ruan Thai yesterday for the first time. The food was delicious and beautifully displayed. I got the lunch special that included a salad (the dressing is to die for!), an entree, soup, egg roll, rice and a couple of fried banana won tons drizzled with honey for dessert. So we didn't get a chance to try the food. My husband and I came here excited (and terribly hungry... I'm also pregnant) to eat. We were seated and after about 10 minute wait, our order was taken. After another 45 minutes to an hour, a server came out with more water. We inquired after our food and he went to check on it. Apparently our ticket was lost. Our order never made it the few steps to the kitchen. All the server did was apologize. However, we gave it a four because there are different chefs that work here and one is amazing and gets the spice level and taste right on and then there is another that screws up your spice level and it is unbelievably spicer than ordered.
