I wanted my wife's prize Frye boots resoled and asked how long it'd be so I could arrange the drive back. He asked where I was coming from, I said Duncan. Heck, he said, sit over there. Must be different owner. Mine was a young guy. Came in asked for new heel on my pumps. "Sure, you wanna wait?" 5 min and a few dollars later shoes are better than new (heel lasted longer this time). Not sure about hard or big jobs, but he took care of mine in less time than it took to find him. read more

I was looking for a a sole/heel replacement for some cowboy boots and Ruben's shop was the only shop on Yelp with reviews. They were all 1-star reviews, so my hopes weren't high. I posted on Lawton Grapevine asking where to take my boots, saying it wouldn't be to Ruben's. i was told that the reviews were inaccurate and to give Ruben a chance. So I did just that. I dropped my boots off on a Saturday and Ruben said they'd be ready the following Saturday. I had read the other reviews and saw that he tended to run behind. I didn't need my boots that quickly so I waited two extra weeks before going back to pick up my boots. I go in three weeks after dropping them off and my boots haven't been touched. That was a Saturday. He told me they'd be ready on Monday. I don't go back in Monday but wait until Thursday. Go back in and my boots still were not ready. Are you kidding me? The terrible reviews are accurate. Don't use Ruben's if you want your items back in a timely fashion. I was quoted one week and it took nearly four. read more

Don't waste your time with this place. I dropped off a pair of sandals to get one heel replaced. The guy promised to have them ready in a week. I returned two weeks later and found my sandals stuffed under a mountain of shoes and boots, and he had yet to get started on them. Guy apologized, said he'd have them ready the same week. This guy can't get it together- left 5 pair of shoes that needed heel taps 2 months ago/ went in after 2 weeks he said he'd been so busy- no time- come back in 2 days- came back & said he was working on them- come back - came back 3 weeks later again- he said he was almost done- I asked to see them- he had done nothing- guys got a foot fetish & wants to keep shoes around- took my shoes & will go elsewhere- what a waste of time!!! read more

Good shoe repair is hard to find. Ruben did an excellent job and therefore he was always extremely busy and seemed to be running behind most of the time. Unfortunately he decided to retire and had no one to take over his business. read more

Pretty disappointing. There are only two places here for shoe repair, one was closed on sat so we dropped my sons new Adidas shoes at Ruebans to patch a small hole he'd put in the front left shoe. We were given a ticket saying they'd be done wed. They weren't and 4 weeks later they STILL weren't every time I called finally I went in and waited 20 min for them to even be found. Then he'd only adhered a patch he said and needed to see it, another 15 min( mind you I had 3 kids with me ) so he sews it on and it looks AWFUL. Then I realize that the neon green insole from that shoe is missing and e says he has no idea where it is and offered to cut me an insole to replace it . I declined because my son loved the neon and I also didn't want to be there any longer. He did not charge me but the service was very poor and the patch job ruined the shoes that were basically brand new and really nice. I turned in my favorite leather purse to be cleaned. For months I went back to check on it. Rueben was always very polite and nice explaining he had not gotten to it; that he needed to look the purse over a little more to decide the best method since it was a special type of treatment/repair. Then one day I walked in to ask for it back and he couldn't find it. In the end he apologized and said he wasn't quite sure what happened but it may have been in placed in the bag to go to Goodwill. I was the most patient customer a merchant could ever ask for but in the end I felt I was too nice and that's on me. But here I was trying to support a local business, believing in the word of Rueben and in the end I got burned. If there was a rating of zero, that's what I'd give him. DO NOT TAKE YOUR SHOES TO THIS MAN... HE IS RUDE and LACK the meaning of BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! I took two pair of shoes for heel taps and he promise me as they would be ready in a week... Went to pick them up a week later... he couldn't find my shoes! When he finally located my shoes under the mountain of Disorganization. He stated that they would were not ready... I asked again when could he have them ready and he asked me to come back on Monday... Well I went to him today to pick up my shoes and he got ignorant with me for his inability to provide a service that he promise... I told him I was trying to help him earn my business...He insulted me by telling me that I could take my business else where.. HE WASN't LOOKING FOR any other business...
