You always wait far past your appointment time every time. Staff and care were not an issue. Every single appointment I've ever taken my young children to we had to wait hours. Normal check ups or even when they were hungry and couldn't eat for a procedure. They are always overscheduled and every single issue and delay is passed on straight to the patients. I strongly advise caution if you're seeking care from the neurology team at this hospital. My experience, both during my inpatient stay and at a follow-up appointment, was deeply disappointing and at times alarming. During my hospitalization, I consented to a bedside lumbar puncture around 2:00am. A third-year neurology resident attempted the procedure three times around 4:00am--each attempt excruciatingly painful. After the third try, he mentioned needing a larger needle. At that point, I refused further attempts and requested the procedure be done under fluoroscopic guidance, which finally happened painlessly the next day. This suggests that my suffering could have been completely avoided with proper supervision and planning. Even worse, the official documentation falsely stated that the supervising neurologist was present throughout the procedure--which she was not. When confronted, she denied it until shown a screenshot, then said she would "have to go in and delete that," which she did. This kind of false documentation is deeply unethical and unacceptable. My condition--IIH, which can lead to vision loss--was not handled with the urgency it warranted. Communication from the neurology team was minimal. I was left feeling ignored and uninformed during a very vulnerable time. At my follow-up appointment with neurology, I explained that I was still vomiting. Rather than investigate further, they pushed mindfulness techniques and suggested my untreated anxiety was the cause--even though I've had anxiety my whole life and it has never caused vomiting before. This felt dismissive and unhelpful. If you're dealing with a serious neurological condition and need thoughtful, attentive care, I strongly recommend finding a different team. This place sucks I have a child under one respiratory illness are a huge issue they constantly let his oxygen levels under 93 for over a half hour he was 93-90 no one checked on us. Two breathing treatments told us not to feed him then ignored us for hours while his breathing still sucked you could tell by his breathing. Next time children's. The respiratory therapist did not care about making sure he was getting his treatment. My 10 bay ER gave better care and cared more about getting him proper care. read more

She just came out of surgery and is being sent home two days earlier because they aren't prepared. They keep telling us that we aren't allowed to see her because we need these passes they keep telling us the wrong information. At first they said we could see her. They then tell us we are allowed two at a time and have to switch out passes. This place has awful policies and you should never ever come here by choice! Do not have any type of surgery done by DR Jason Lamb. He did my dad's hiatal hernia surgery and sent him home before he was able to keep anything down. my dad ended up back in the emergency room the same day and had to be taken back in to removed items that were lodged in his throat and have his esophagus expanded. Dr. Lamb still tried to send him home before he was ready and my dad is now back in the Emergency Department! Dr. Lamb knows he screwed up and is trying to cover it up. read more

Very mixed feelings about this hospital - my dad suffered a small vessel stroke. He had to be medi-vaced via helicopter to this hospital and upon arrival, the flight free left my 80-year-old father out in the rain. The staff at Ruby scolded the flight crew about leaving him to get wet, when cover is available. I live 7 hours away from Ruby, have made at least twice daily calls to check on my dad, and was stunned to find out that they had no idea that he was a Pennsylvania resident, that he has health insurance or had no idea that he was on ulcer meds and had just finished treatment for prostate cancer. Really disappointing. The nurses so far have been very nice but there is very much "one hand doesn't know what the other is doing." The nurses weren't communicating to the care manager that I was arriving - she called me while I was en route and was shocked to hear that I would be there that day...despite me requesting numerous times to let her know I was coming in person. The neurologist looks to be about 12 years old and is very brusque - didn't care for how she handled my questions or how she spoke to my dad. The hospital itself is GIGANTIC, parking is copious and free. Not enough elevators to handle enormous amount of staff and visitors, had to wait each time. read more

Every single staff member, nurses, Doctors, nurses aids and even the front desk staff went above and beyond! They're the most caring concerned and supportive group of people I've ever encountered. I went in with abdominal pain and left flank pain and a history of kidney stones.. was brought in by ems but was sat in a wheel chair for 12 hours, I left. I called back to speak with the charge nurse and she told me to come back. Ems took me back I was placed in the waiting room for an hour this time. The resident physician was lovely. My daughter and I were brought here by ambulance after a car accident. After spending fewer than 4 hours here and having no injuries we were released. That's when the hospital bills started coming in. To date we have been charged around $35K- yes that's right, no injuries, no overnight stay, $35,000. The first week of our stay was on floor 8 it was a NIGHTMARE. The patient was unable to get out of bed. She soiled herself. We called for help. I was told they would be right in. I decided that was a good time to go eat. when I came back an hour later. She had not been changed! This happened so many times. There was a time I ask a red head day nurse, to heat up something. She had her hand in a bag of Cheetos and said call your nurse he can help you. At that point I said that's fine I'll go take care of it myself and stormed down the hallway. (there's a microwave in the food court). Another nurse heard what she said and ran after me and offered to heat it up. There were times shifts would change, dayshift would leave her on a bedpan that she had ask to be off of 45 min before. At that point I started making a seen. The night shift came in cleaned her and apologized. She wasn't washed up until I ask. Day 4 If these things had happened once or twice that would be one thing. They happed almost daily, of our 7 days on floor 8. I'd go in the hallway to ask the night nurses for help. I'd find them watching movies on their phones or taking selfies. (FYI the nurse button on the bed doesn't work only the tv remote.) but even after we learned that it didn't change much. Not all the nurses were bad 2 that we loved were Chris and Candy. Guess what, one was a traveling nurse, the other was a floater. Not regulars! There were a few other but I can't remember their names. All I know is someone needs to clean house on floor 8. But..... She was stepped down and moved to floor 10. It was night and day difference! They jumped and came to her as fast as they could. One time I went in the hallway motioned for 2 young CA's they literally ran to her room to get the bed pan under her so she wouldn't soil herself. Everyone on floor 10 was so helpful and nice. It was like we had been sent to a totally different hosp. She was cleaned daily. These people love their jobs, and were truly called to help people. Choose wisely do NOT leave your loved one alone in this hospital. At least not until you know the staff is going to take good care of them. I'd still recommend staying as much as you can. read more

I had to stay overnight for a brain tumor biopsy scheduled for the next day. The night nurse accused me of recoding her while I was face timing my sister and my sister told her as much. I wake up a little while later to 2 burly security guards screaming at me about knowing it's wrong to record people. I had know idea what the fuck they were talking about. My daughter has been inpatient multiple times as she is a special needs child with many medical diagnosis. 6SE is awesome and will do anything they can to make a child feel better. my daughter just had surgery and she won't eat/drink due to pain and they asked her what she wanted as a suprise. She responded with a unicorn and my goodness that is what they game her! They got 2 nurses (male and female) to wear handmade unicorn horns and come neighing into our room. They were good for my most recent emergency surgery but with my husbands hospitalization, I feel like I'm dealing with providers who don't provide complete transparency. Waited over 12 hours for colorectal to give the ok to progress to a soft diet. Gi gave the go ahead but he wanted to confirm with the other provider. Clinically there is no reason for him to continue NPO status, number are better, no perforations. That dr finally came to see my husband after midnight when I wasn't there and said no you can't eat still. No answer as to why. And hubby is very forgetful and can't recall all that was said. I have said to them repeatedly, he won't understand what you're saying or remember what you're saying so I need to kept in the loops and I'm not. They have a little God complex and that's not gonna fly with my husband or myself we want answers. When I asked for a call back that Dr told the nurse no that it was inappropriate since it was after 2 am. Well he had since 9-10 am the day prior to answer any of the number of pages the nurses sent to him. Its ridiculous and incompetent to not inform the wife of the plan of action. read more

Never or almost never a good situation when I check into a hospital, but given the circumstances it was necessary. I want to be clear, this review pertains to the experience while I visited the hospital. I am in no way criticizing the doctors, nurses, or staff working there. I sincerely appreciate and thank each and every one of them for their time and talent. I was visiting a loved one, this hospital happened to be allowing visitors. Having never been inside before it was a daunting task. Like most hospitals, they are limiting visitors and modifying visiting hours during COVID. Upon entering you are asked your business and COVID questions in regards to any potential exposure. I said no, but here is the first opportunity for improvement. It's a hospital, is it too much to ask for a temperature reading? It doesn't even require labor to do so. Managing a business myself, we have invested in automated thermal scanners that not only provide reliable reading, and a visual image of your face but will also signal red, take a photo and email selected members when it it out of range. I think this WVU affiliated hospital can afford a few of these. Upon passing the "test" I moved on to a reception station where I was asked my business, patient info, and my relation. I was then provided with a sticker to wear. I will say that I was able to find my destination, however the directions on the walls could be updated, and enlarged. Upon getting to the room, I found that it was rather dated and acceptably clean. The nursing staff was friendly and attentive. Some patient directions such as food ordering, outbound calling instructions, and general information could be improved. Overall, medically speaking, I believe the talent and ability of the staff of this hospital to be some of the best, from an administrative and patient comfort/awareness perspective, there are opportunities for improvement. read more

My niece went in to this hospital four months ago by the recommendation of her kidney doctor. Despite her hatred for this hospital because they killed her mother, my sister, as well as other family members, she went there because she trusted her doctor that much. Biggest mistake ever. I was there every day with her for a month and was appalled at the actions of this so called hospital. I could write for days with story after story of how they mistreated her as well as our family. They call themselves medical professionals but they are a far cry from being that!!!! I think they got their degrees out of a Cracker Jacks box!!!! A very long and sad story short, the misdiagnosed, mistreated and killed my niece. Medical malpractice is an every day occurrence at this so called hospital!!!! I wouldn't take an animal to this hospital for treatment!!!!! And if I had a life threatening accident in their parking lot I would take my chances and be taken to a hospital further away. It should be in every persons living will in that area to not be taken there. Those that go into that hospital and survive and get to return home, consider yourself very lucky and blessed. You're the minority. If I had the means to hire a lawyer and take this place down I would in a heartbeat!!!!! They deserve to be out of business. And they know what they're doing. All I can say is one day they WILL pay for mistreating and killing so many people that should still be here today. They will all stand before God one day and be judged eternally for all the innocent lives they've taken!!!! My niece should still be alive today. She was taken way before her time because of this hospital. The staff would not even let our whole family with her when she was dying!!!! Only 2 at a time. They are a pathetic group of people!!!!
