If you really want to have the essentials for a resort feel with all the important amenities (pool, restaurant, bar, gym, water sports, etc.) but not have to hurt your wallet, give this place a try and you won't regret it. Friendly staff and quick poolside service! My only complaint is that the pizzas were terrible so please avoid ordering any pizza from here!!!

Food was excellent.The boodle fight lunch prepared for our party was top notch, well presented, and loaded with meat, seafood, pickles, fruits and a variety of sauces. Attentive waiters and helpful waiters completed the experience. The beach was picturesque, clean and it featured water slides at the end of a walkway further out at sea. The pool was huge and clean with amazing views of the beach. It has a small gym by the back of the pool with two pool tables. Once we finally arrived on our floor we headed down the hall to room 620. Room: Average for a hotel. I like the eco semi modern look. I believe we were given a queen size bed for our room. Room also had a small balcony overlooking a parking lot below. Included with the room were various amenities such as a mini fridge, coffee maker, tea/coffee, water bottles, and a small closet. Bed was comfortable but the window type a/c unit was loud at times. At night you can hear various car alarms going off. Other guests were literally screaming up and down the halls and you can hear them with some clarity. Free wifi in room. Bathroom: Ok I thought I've experienced a tiny restroom but the word tiny does not do it justice when it came to the shower. I mean literally you turn to the side your body hits either the shower curtain or the shampoo holder on the wall. Tiny, tiny and tiny!! However, despite the size, the shower pressure was good and the hot water was a good temperature. (when I first entered I checked how hot the water was and found out it didn't get hot at all. I called down to the front desk and had them send maintenance. Upon arriving he flipped a switch inside the room's panel board and replaced our shower head. All was well after.)  Toilet flushed well and sink also had good water pressure. Overall: For the price I paid, the hotel is absolutely of great value. You have access to a mall whether by car or by foot, and you have a variety of restaurants right outside the lobby and across the street to choose from. Hotel staff was very welcoming and quick with any requests I had. The only downfall I'd say is if you have no vehicle and your either coming from the airport or the pier this hotel can be a ways out. I'm not sure if they offer shuttle service. If you wanna travel local style there are many jeepneys in the area. Taxi is also available. Other than the location away from the airport and Mega Malls like Ayala and SM, I'd stay here again!

The guard is very friendly and the staff courteous. The room was small but that's perfect because it cools off really fast. What I didn't like was that my room (303) didn't have a window so I couldn't see outside but that's good too because you can really sleep soundly without the sunlight disrupting you. What I didn't like was the deposit of php1000.00 even though I booked the room with a credit card. That's just anti-quated and does not inspire goodwill because you'd feel like they're expecting you to take out something from your room. I love the toiletries especially the toothbrush because they come in this cute blue packet. The hotel is also very near Fuente,Cebu Doc, Robinson's, Larcian, etc. I will give this hotel a perfect rating because you can't really expect much from a php1700.00 room but Pillows offer so much more I feel like I really did get the most from the money i paid. I checked in fairly late, after dinner with some friends that are currently studying in Cebu and I was relieved to see that the guard in front was awake and attentive, as were the front desk staff. I had an online confirmation for my booking printed and my check-in experience was seamless. I appreciated the extra security in the elevator; you had to swipe your keycard to gain access to a specific floor. The room itself was well-kept and clean! There were a few stains on the sheets, but nothing completely unreasonable, especially at this hotel's pricepoint. I was actually really impressed by the amount of toiletries they offered; I forgot to pack a toothbrush for this trip and they had one in the toiletry pack! You don't even see that anymore at full-service hotels like Hilton or Marriott these days. There was even a complimentary bottled water in the room, which was a super nice gesture. The water pressure in the shower was good and the towels were clean My stay was quiet and pleasant. I definitely would recommend this hotel for people on a budget or on a backpacking adventure through Cebu.

This is such a cute, unique and fun hotel!…read more I'm not sure exactly what I expected when visiting Cebu for the first time, but I was so pleasantly surprised that this quirky, modern hotel existed. I stayed here two nights, one night each bookending a trip to Bohol. Since we flew into Cebu and preferred to take the ferry to Bohol in daylight, we opted to stay here to start and finish our trip to the Philippines. First, the rooms are incredibly spacious and reasonably priced, but be aware that taxes are pretty hefty. When booking, just double check what the final cost will be, with taxes. (Our room for 3 adults ran us around $170 per night.) Our first night we booked the extra large room and it was massive. After around 24 hours of traveling, it was nice for my friend traveling with us to have her own sub-room and private bathroom in addition to our room with shared common space and a bomb digging, massive bathroom with shower and tub. Breakfast buffet is also included and is not bad at all, offering more than just the traditional continental breakfast. There is also a lovely pool in the back, but got those of you looking to get a good sweat in you should be aware that there is no gym onsite. (And since you're in a congested downtown area, it's not an ideal place to run outside.) If there is one suggestion I would make, it would be forego having the hotel book your transportation on your behalf more often than not. We learned that they charge close to 400 pesos more that the typical white taxi fare from the airport. Out of convenience, I requested they arrange a pick up to the airport on our way back out of town, and the receptionist forgot. In the morning when I went to check on the status, the morning desk staff realized it had not been booked the night before and went ahead and called someone for us. What we didn't realize was that this would take an additional half and hour and charge us a substantial amount more, when we could have just hailed a cab at that time of day and been on our way with a little more money in our pockets. It would be nice if they at least made the suggestion or made you more aware of your options. The one time I do think it would have been worthwhile to arrange transportation would have been a pick up from the ferry building. On the way back from Bohol we arrived after sunset, and the area just felt more sketch and unregulated than during the day time. We had some semi aggressive fellows trying to convince us they were cab drivers and kept motioning for us to come around the corner with them to get in the cab. Our spidey senses told us something was off and we made sure to stay close to the well lit front of the building and flex our patience waiting for a cab at that time. (We thought there would have been tons, but they were far and few between.) Otherwise, our stay was nearly perfect and I would strongly recommend!

It wasn't terribly far from everything. The view isn't great but I wasn't expecting anything anyway. There's a cafe by the lobby, and the front desk can help you with airport transfer, plus print your itinerary for you. I would probably stay again, even if just for the funky and fun decor. I did enjoy how spacious the rooms were. Oh yeah - the air conditioning works REALLY well. A little TOO well, actually. I was freezing my butt off, even after raising the temperature! One last con is there is no complimentary water.

Marco Polo Plaza Cebu : A Classic That Still Holds Its Own…read more This was once the iconic Cebu Plaza Hotel, and you can still feel the grandeur in its bones. The lobby alone sets the tone, spacious, elegant, and rare for Cebu. It's perched up on the hills of Nivel, and while the mountain view could've been spectacular, the sightline is unfortunately dotted with informal settlements. If I were management, I'd invest in reclaiming or screening that side, it's the only visual detail that breaks the illusion. The rooms, though, are beautifully maintained. Ours had a great layout, a soft bed with dreamy pillows, and a spacious bathroom with excellent water pressure and consistent hot water. It's the kind of setup where you can actually rest. Room service at night? Surprisingly excellent. And the front desk and bell staff were sharp, polite, and fast. everything you'd hope for from a hotel of this caliber. Food-wise, Café Marco still delivers a solid buffet. Breakfast had good variety without going overboard. Dinner was also well curated. Their Chinese restaurant, Hai Shin Lou, brings an upscale option to in-house dining, and the Lobby Lounge is a great spot to unwind with drinks or dessert. The service across F&B outlets was consistently attentive. A couple of downsides: the road leading up is currently under repair, which means getting to the hotel takes patience. The traffic's real. But that's a temporary issue, nothing to hold against the hotel long-term. Would I stay again? Absolutely. It's one of the few hotels in Cebu that feels truly grand, without trying too hard. Fix the road and tweak the view, and Marco Polo can easily reclaim the top spot as Cebu's flagship luxury stay.

(Hint: If available, opt for the unlimited dim sum at the hotel's Chinese restaurant instead.) I also took advantage of the spa and gym. The massage was a good experience (though I couldn't charge it to the room which was led to a mild snafu.) The gym was a good size and decently equipped with weights and a treadmill. The exercise bike wasn't working to my chagrin though. We also generally noticed small details - The hotel wanted to be very upscale and fancy but things were misaligned during construction and there was just a general lack of attention to detail. Overall, if you can stay here for a reasonable rate, it could be worth it, but, at the end of the day, you get what you pay for.

It is a newer hotel, when I asked it had only been built for about a year. We walked in and were greeted right away with cold, fresh (tasted like it) guava juice. We were quite pleased with the reservation desk. The woman helping us was very fluent in English; like almost all the Filipinos we have encountered in the Philippines and very hospitable and accommodating. There is a brunch included with your reservation; not to mention everything in mini fridge in the room is absolutely complimentary. The decor is so chic and the rooms were so nice and spacious. They have 15 floors and the top is a great restaurant with a rooftop deck. Definitely going to stay here again the next time I come to Cebu. Mabuhay!
