Ruby's Salon is the BEST in Ohio. I personally go to Jonny, and he is amazing but the whole salon is filled with outstanding hair experts. Jonny does exactly what I want and beyond! I come in with inspiration pictures and he delivers. In the past I've dealt with unfortunate bleaching, but since coming to Jonny, my hair has never been so healthy! Well - Jonny has done it again! He is the master of skipping home runs and going straight to hitting Grand Slams! I hated my hair for over 20 years and since Jonny has been taking care of my hair the past year and a half - I am IN LOVE with my hair. He listens to your feedback, offers insight and suggestions and helps achieve the look that you want in a professional way. His goal is to get you the beautiful color that is perfect for you! His approach is more "lived in" color so it grows out beautifully and looks incredibly natural with eye catching pops of contrast and dimension. I won the World Series when I found Jonny! Let me just start by saying that my last visit here will absolutely be my last visit. I'm sure I'll catch backlash from the owners or the stylist... but this was my experience. And I feel it needs to be shared. I had taken my 4.5 year old with me and immediately was treated poorly and dirty looked by the stylist I was there to see as soon AS SOON as she walked out and saw him with me. He wanted to stand next to us and she told him that she would have scissors and that he could stand in the corner area by us. No biggie. Unfortunately he was tired at the time of our appointment (we had a 30 minute drive from home to there) and he got sad over that. I explained to him that he needed to stand there or go sit down. She immediately snapped at me with "should we reschedule?" In a not so friendly manner. I said no, that won't be necessary. She then asked if I needed to "go have a talk with him." Which I did and he calmed down. He's very well behaved and his melt down was actually pretty shocking to me. The talk took less than a couple of minutes. The whole situation took less than 5 minutes from the time I walked in to the time I was in her chair. I was even a few minutes early. We discussed the two inspo pictures I had sent to her and decided on which one I wanted. (I'll get back to that) We proceeded with the appointment and she made small talk but certainly wasn't friendly and was very clearly irritated over the fact that I brought my child. If that's going to make such a difference on how a paying client is treated, that "no children" rule should be posted. Or at the very least, make this clear when making appointments. She knows I have children. A simple "we have a no kids policy at our salon" when I made the appointment, would've made for a much more pleasant/less emotional experience I guess. She ends up giving me the cut that we had decided NOT to do. Instead of like the other picture we had agreed on, literally minutes earlier. I was there for bangs and easily a good 6+ inches taken off. I left with something NOTHING like the picture.. minus the bangs. I spent $72. I'm nice and still tipped her 20% for a haircut that I literally didn't even want. She had me so defeated and emotional by the way she treated me & the dirty looks that she gave my 4.5 year old, that I didn't have it in me to tell her that it wasn't what I wanted. She said to me towards the end that "we typically don't like kids here because it's not big enough and we can't entertain them." I wasn't there for my child to be entertained. I was there for a haircut. And again, if that's the policy, that needs to be stated. I also left with it wet and not styled because "she didn't have time to style it." Appt was @ 3 and it was 3:48 when I got out of her chair and paid. She had another appointment at 4 she said. Why couldn't she work and do something to style my hair in those last 12 minutes? Even just something simple. Paying $72 or even $60 before tip is wild to get JUST a wash and a cut. I have NEVER been anywhere for a wash+cut+style and left without part of what I paid for. So I paid AND TIPPED and left literally in tears. She ruined the entire experience and haircut for me, and honestly I could just tell she didn't care to have me there at all, because I brought my son. Unfortunately I'm now out $72 and as a mom of 4, I don't just have another $70 to drop to get my hair cut the way I asked for from her. And with 6 month old twins, I barely have the time. Sad experience and before that experience, I would and did recommend this stylist constantly to others local to Troy... treating others with kindness really isn't that hard. She didn't know why I had to bring my son with me to the appointment. And as someone who's suffering ppd pretty badly, this situation certainly added fuel to the fire. I know my haircut amount was pocket change to her and the salon but for me, that's a good amount of money to walk away without receiving what I asked for plus terrible treatment. read more

Great little salon! I'm definitely not a "salon" guy, but the prices are very reasonable and I ALWAYS get plenty of complements after my cut. Ask for Jon, he does great work and was really great with our 3 year old. She was afraid to get her hair cut, but she was thrilled with the whole experience. read more
