Probably one of the most unprofessional trail rides my family has ever been on. And this is coming from somebody who has worked with horses for 25+ years. The "guide" in the back was horrible and treated his horse like garbage all in attempt to "show off" which he did horribly. He actually fell off at one point because he decided to STAND UP on the horse like he was practicing for the circus. The "guide" in the front only payed attention to the college girls behind him. Also, the way they advertise. It is totally misleading. You only got about a five minute view of the rim. The rest of the ride was through the Pines, and the only good views you got were of the guide, making a fool of himself. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED YOU GO SOMEWHERE ELSE IF YOU WANT A GOOD TRAIL RIDE. read more

I was thinking about buying my kids and hubby a horseback trail ride but when I walked by, I decided I could not based on the horses conditions: few trees for shade; they were all huddled together and had no access to water in almost 90° full sun. Two horses were tied to a fence and the other horses appeared tied to those horses. The nasty water was in the other side of the fence. When we left, the situation was the same but I didn't check the water trough. read more

The wagon ride at Ruby's Inn was a highlight of our trip! From start to finish, it felt like stepping back in time in the best way. The husband and wife team (the Skeltonbergers) were super friendly and welcoming, and the horses were beautiful and clearly well cared for. We had the 4.5 hour ride on Thunder Mountain, and it was really beautiful. The horses were solid, our tour guide Kevin was very descriptive and friendly. I ride horses normally but my mom hasn't in a while, and she had a great time. The views were absolutely stunning and the trails were so exhilarating. Friendly people. Easy to book. You have to cross the street to rubys inn to book a tour. When you come in you check in and they give you a helmet if your under 18? Maybe They give you a horses name to remember and then they start helping you on the horse. They do have steps incase you can't climb on. We did the 1.5 hour tour. While I enjoyed it. I found myself a little bored :( until we got to see Bryce Canyon. -1 star. Would have been nice if we could have stayed a few minutes to take pictures and just take it all in. But it was like a ride by. While it was nice to do the horse back riding and being with family. I'd rather spend the 1.5 hours hiking in the park. Forgot to mentioned my horse was Lulu and while she was very nice to me. She was so stubborn and would not listen to when I said no and pulled up for her not to eat grass lol. She was on restrictions after haha. I ended up having to wrap the strap you hold onto around for her not to bow her head. The guide said that's her normal self. Otherwise lulu was great. read more

05.25.2021 - We did the all day horseback adventure! I'm so grateful that we did! Our guide was amazing and knowledgeable about the canyon and the horses! We were able to hike up the mountain (or shall I say, the horse did all the hiking) to see amazing views! We had one guide (I think his name was Kevin or Kenny) and although there was five of us, he did his best to pass on information about the canyon from the first horse to the last horse in back. Also, when we stopped he shared more information about the canyon amongst the group. Also, throughout the tour, he would have us switch orders so we had a chance to be the lead horse behind him. The horses are really trained really well. Some of them have their own personalities. My horses name was "Blue Duck", she was put in the back because she doesn't like when other horses come up close to her butt. Towards the end of the tour, one of the other horses came close to her butt and she tried to back kick it. It was pretty funny...... luckily the horse behind it wasn't that close so no one got hurt. It was easy to guide her and you could tell when another horse got close because her ears would move and she'd give the side eye and look backwards. Overall, this was an amazing experience. The views were breathtaking and the horses did all the work. They recommend people who have had experience with riding horses. I've only been on shorter horse tours before this one and would still consider myself an amateur. Just as long as you know the basics of riding, you should be fine. The horses are well trained and so sweet! I highly recommend experiencing the canyon this way, especially if you were lazy like us and didn't want to do a hike. read more

Toured at 10.22.20 Since COVID ruined our Greece trip for our honeymoon, we decided to do a trip to Zion and Bryce. While at Bryce, we decided to rent a Rzr and go on a tour. Went on the 3 hour afternoon ride yesterday in Red Canyon (in case you didn't notice already, the ride is not in Bryce itself). The email confirmation said to check in half an hour early, but we were only picked up at 12:55. They drive you out to the Red Canyon corral which takes about 5-10 minutes. Upon arrival, you get a little briefing and they assign you a horse. Then you set out in a fixed order (nose to tail kinda thing). The season has barely started because of the late snowfall that just refuses to melt, so some of the horses were still a bit fresh and had to get used to the trail again. The ride goes through the canyon, which was gorgeous. Everything was going well until at one point, some loose rocks stumbled down and made noise. It startled a few of the horses and someone lost their balance and fell. The wranglers immediately had the situation under control and tried to get the person to ride again but she was too scared, so they called in an ATV to come get her. The rest of us continued the ride and we all finished without any other incidents. We waited for the entire group to get back at the corral before the van took us back to Ruby's. I would definitely recommend the 3 hour ride if you would like to see a piece of Red Canyon from a different perspective and enjoy the peace and quiet. The wranglers are very professional and have plenty of experience, so you are definitely in safe hands. read more

THIS IS FOR THE WAGON RIDE- it's not listed. the 1 star is for the WAGON itself; our hosts, Dace and J were 5 star! the design is horrible- the "seats" are long planks of wood maybe 8" wide (WHO fits on that?), with an open space, then another long plank, same width. the benches face in, so you're very limited as to what you can see, and VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. There's also a bench running down the center, so if the wagon was full, viewing the gorgeous countryside (isn't that the point?) would be severely limited. the steps getting into the wagon were very difficult, and not wheelchair accessible. Definitely not kid-friendly either- if a kid stood up on the bench, he would fall off. I called and spoke with Andrea, the activities manager, let her know my concerns and told her I would be "yelping" the wagon ride with. 1star read more

All the employees were so nice, we are here from Florida and were not prepared for the unexpected dip in temperature. I should start by saying that we are city folk, and definitely beginners when it comes to horseback riding. My husband, 8 year-old, 11 year-old, and I were all excited and a bit nervous about our 90-minute trail ride. Once we got settled and started the ride, we relaxed and had a great time. The horses were mellow and very easy to ride. They seemed to be well cared for, which made me feel good. Our guide, Frank, was knowledgeable and very patient teaching my kids how to handle their horses. On our ride back, we came across a cow who had gotten outside the fence, and we got to watch Frank wrangle it back. Such a neat experience! Ginger, our other guide, was super friendly and happy to answer my kids' 3,472 questions. She knows a ton about horses! The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. I think this 90- minute ride to the rim of the canyon is perfect for beginners. The only thing that would have made this a better experience is if we had more time before and after the ride to interact with our horses. I understand that Ruby's has a schedule to follow and a business to run, but we would have loved to be able to pet, photograph, and learn about our horses. read more

So much fun, It's a Must Do!! The staff is so nice and helpful. Our tour guide Gene, was awesome! Very nice, funny and friendly. He was very knowledgeable about the area and the history of it. Not only did we have a great time riding but we also learned about the area, which was nice to hear some of the history of the area. Make sure to wear a bandana and be ready to get dirty. There's a lot of dirt in the air as you ride, but the do have a air compressor that they use after your ride to blow off as much of the dirt as possible. The ride is about 1 hour long and a blast as you climb from smooth roads to crazy fun hillsides and even a little water.(Ya buddy!) read more

We took "Minnies Favorite" trail. The experience for my young daughters was great! They thoroughly enjoyed the ride and can't wait to ride a horse again. The other four of us, all adults, were slightly disappointed. It was originally going to be just us six, but then a young adult female tagged along. Totally fine, except for she was nervous riding and her horse wouldn't follow her commands...or so she claimed. Our guide, Ryker, put her in the middle of the line to help keep the horse obedient. We rode 45 minutes to the rim where the sights were amazing. We all expected some sort of info given at different points along our ride, but we received nothing. Not even a "everyone ok?" or "how's the ride?" It was far from a "guided tour" unless they consider it guided simply by leading with a horse. Ryker would turn and check on us about every 15-20 minutes, but I felt like that was not frequent enough given the circumstances of having two young kids and a feisty horse in the group. I am giving the four stars simply because it was still a good experience and something for the books! The rest of the staff was very sweet and accommodating...and relaxed. read more

My boyfriend and I typically go horseback riding whenever we visit national parks and Bryce Canyon was no different. The view at the top was incredible. The horses were beautiful; We had Flea and Chum. The dynamic duo of Wranglers Kate and Carter, the siblings, was fantastic. They were fun, knowledgeable, witty, sarcastic and helpful. Carter dropped some "fun facts" on us and had us saying, " Wow Carter that's a really cool story!" Kate was engaged and easygoing. She was amazing and so nice. We really enjoyed our 90 minute trail ride. There was a 45 minute delay, but these things happen when groups of people and animals are involved. Our guides, Emma and Lauren, were very nice, and the to the red canyon rim ride was a good fit for us- not too challenging. My son's mule (Lulu) was quite well behaved, and he was thrilled to ride for the first time. My horse was a little sassy at first, but she settled down, and we had a good ride. I'm definitely glad we started with a shorter, easier ride for the first time. I'd definitely try these guys again, although I'd want to go into the canyon, not just to the rim. read more

The ride is very boring. They don't tell you any stories. No pointing out any thing. You fall asleep on the horse. They don't let you take pictures. They don't stop for anything. It is a very slow walk and you just fall asleep. They are rude too, yelling at you for trying to take pictures. read more

I've done a tour like this in Vegas and it was about the same price for all day tour through Valley of fire with sandwiches . $110 is pretty pricey for 1 hour going 10-15 mph being behind slow people with dust chocking you . You don't get an opportunity to go fast at all , which if you like speed don't do this .I would say this should be about a $65.00 tour . Our guide Gene was really friendly and very informative . We did the 6pm tour and rented 1 razor and took turns driving . It was fun but I have done better for much less . Overall 3.5 experience. read more

First, I walked up and noticed someone who seemed to work for the company and said, Hi!. I was ignored. I walked up to the office and was greeted by Can I help you?. Woman was nice enough, got us situated. No explanation of what to do from reservation until we actually sat it the ATV. Nothing to tell you what time to bet there or what to expect. This is a tour, not a rental. you are guided and you have to go where they guide you. Which is fine, thats why we came. Except be prepared for some information that seemed although interesting, cuts your atv time from 1 hour to about 40 minutes of actual drive time. Then, mid way, the ATV behind us got stuck going up a hill. They were last. What did the guide up front do? They all kept going! Not caring at all, not even looking back. So natural to me, we stopped and waited for them. They didn't wait for us til at least 1.5 miles away. Finally they got out and followed. When we met up with the others, they basically didn't care one way or the other, and didnt make sure we were fine. From then, all of a sudden our ATV was going no more than 10 mph. it would not speed up at all. The group had to keep waiting for us. and still no care in the world. wasn't it odd that we were going painstakingly SLOW?? guide didnt care. frankly, felt like he only took us coz we paid. maybe its because both us and the atv behind us were asians so they didn't care. either way, customer service was lacking. fun was definitely lacking. and for $140 bucks??? was an utter disappointment! then?? i proceed to tell them on rendez vous that - you know we couldnt go more than 10mph? you might wanna check that atv.. and nothing. silence. did you have fun? no, our atv wouldnt go more than 10 mph. oh, thats a shame. and thats it! Its a tiny town, beautiful bryce canyon. but if you are thinking of going to use this company? I would choose another place. don't waste your money - they don't care read more

We took an early morning trip out to the rim of the canyon and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip overall. Frank was terrific, such a great guide with insights into nature, horsemanship, and living a good life. The horses were well cared for (my family owns horses so this was the first thing we checked on before confirming the ride) and sure-footed. They are fine for first-timers and seasoned riders alike. We spent our honeymoon in southern Utah to see the sights. We had stopped previously at another trail riding outfit, and then only acknowledgement we received was a quick hello. After waiting for around 15 minutes, I finally mentioned being interested in the trail ride, and was told "I'm not sure" in regards to availability. We decided to skip the idea and go on with our day. A couple days later, our last in Utah, we were headed to Bryce Canyon and saw the sign advertising trail rides in Red Canyon. We were promptly greeted and told what rides were available. Gaylene was our guide, and she was great! Knowledgeable, friendly, patient - she took her time in explaining how things would go. She made sure to check on everyone throughout the ride to ensure we were all doing well. It was a great way to see so much more than we would have been able to on our own. I just returned from my second trip to Bryce Canyon this year. I wanted to wait to give my review until after this trip. Both times I traveled with my personal horses and stayed at the Ruby's horse hotel in my LQ trailer. My first experience did not go very well. We had stall reservation issues. The reason, from my observation, was that they didn't seem well organized and I do not believe they use a computer system for guest reservations (mine was a piece of paper in a notebook). If it were not for Dave, who stays on site at the grounds, we may not have had corrals for our horses. He was amazing and jumped into action to build us corrals! There were 8 corrals overbooked. I am happy to report that on my second trip I voiced my grievances to J (who also stays onsite) and she took my issues to management and they made it right with me! It's always good to let places know what went wrong and to give them a chance to fix it. They did have stalls ready upon my arrival this time which was a great relief after travelling so far with my horses. I do highly recommend staying at the horse hotel if you go to Bryce with personal horses. The corrals were clean and ample sized. There is a trailer offered for rent, which is very beneficial, for getting to the trailheads. And once again, Dave was a helpful hand, and J a wealth of trail knowledge for the surrounding areas. Those two make it a pleasant and friendly place to stay! Even though I gave it a 5 star rating, I feel they could still use some improvement in the reservation department. (I would also like to state that the rental horses live at this facility, and I did not see any emaciated horses, on the contrary they looked well fed and cared for) read more

We had a blast on the ATV tour! Our 10- and seven-year olds had an absolute blast with their first time on an ATV. About half way through the ride, my wife and I switched driving so we could both get a chance to drive (I think it was her first time and my second timing driving one). The view of Bryce National Park was amazing. We spent the morning in the park and got to see the area from a different side while on our ride. Just to be clear, most of the ride is in a wooded area near the park. It works out just fine as you really need to concentrate on the immediate terrain and not the scenic backdrop. Our Guide, Frank, was really nice. He gave us a short history of the area and went out of his way to help us see some pronghorn antelope that were grazing in the area. read more

We took the 1/2 day ride. Although you loop around on a trail and come back the same way, it was a fun trip for our whole family. Haley was a sweet guide who put my 8 year old first time rider at ease. We had a huge group that we rode with, but the guides put us at ease. We are a family of 5 and we all had fun! I read the reviews about the horses not being kept well, but I disagree. I have been riding horses all my life. There were no horses that looked like they were not attended to (my husband's horse was even a little hefty, as my son said). The guides joked with us and we're talkative when you talked to them. It is super hard to be a tour guide on a trail, single file where no one can hear you anyway! If you are looking for an activity to do with your family, this was fun! My only complaint was there was no mention of Butch Cassidy or his hide out which was part of the reason we chose this ride! read more

I took the 6 hour ride to Casto Canyon this Fall 2017 and loved it. I cannot say enough nice things about the Casto Canyon ride, our cowboy guide, my companions, or the beautiful horse that I had! Our guide was clearly overqualified for this job. A real tough-as-jerky cowboy's cowboy that is also a real renaissance man. The time passed like water flowing downstream while we talked about the trail, gunsmithing, saddles, rodeo riding (his, not mine!), and the real Hole In The Wall Gang (Butch Cassidy) hideout (which we saw on the trail!) FYI: The 'Butch Cassidy" house accessible from the highway (his family home) is neat too, but you have to take the trail ride to see the hideout! I highly suggest it. Obviously, I love horses; so it pains me when I see them less than loved. Therefore, I was so pleased to see how happy, healthy, and well-behaved these horses were! I had Sunny, who felt light to the touch and seemed to really enjoy her job. I only found out at the end of the ride that Sunny belongs to our cowboy guide! No wonder she was so well behaved and sweet. Not many people possess the talent to train a horse like that -- I certainly don't. It was like he let me borrow his Bugatti. Fantastic! I rode at least a dozen times on this vacation with several different companies between Las Vegas, NV and Moab, UT; and Casto Canyon is the ride that I will remember for the rest of my life. It was also the only ride that 'lasted long enough' for me. Therefore, thank you Ruby's for offering a real trip for us horse lovers! Please don't ever take this option away. There are lots of people who can ride who are disappointed by nose-to-tail rides and would enjoy this trip as much as i did. Casto Canyon sets you apart from everyone else. I hope that you appreciate what you get from this cowboy. He deserves your full support. What you have (trail, leadership, horses, etc.), combined, makes you the best of the best -- please never change! read more
