Received a pretty poor haircut at this location, I asked for a fade and short cut on top and the results are in the photo below (photo taken on the same day). The stylist barely spent any time on the top and upper sides, so it's basically half done. It was wet at the end so I couldn't tell exactly how little effort they had put in. Rudy's charges A LOT for the service that you get. I'm usually not one to leave negative reviews, but this was a pretty rough haircut result. Thank goodness for Sierra! She is an amazing stylist that is so easy to connect with and cuts hair like a BOSS. She listens to what you're thinking of doing, or picks it right up from a reference photo you bring in, and is able to translate that into exactly what you were looking for, if not better. I've been a long time customer of Rudys in Bellevue. Recently moved to the south end, and referred to Adrienne at the Tacoma/Procter street location. She is awesome! Quickly understood what I like in my haircuts, including the bangs (which we all know are a thing!). During my first visit she suggested a couple of slight changes, and remembered those on my second visit. Overall this is a small location, but it seems constantly busy. All of the stylists and front reception team seem super nice and friendly. My husband and stepson have been going here for a while now, after I finally convinced my husband to give Rudy's a try. He'd pretty much always been unhappy going other places, felt Rudys was too expensive....but he's now a total Rudys convert, and loves having Adrienne cut his hair. He's definitely picky about his haircuts, and she won him over. :-) Highly recommend Rudy's in general, and Adrienne. read more

Sierra gave me a amazing cut! I accidentally booked an appointment for the wrong kind of cut, but Sierra was willing to fit me in anyway. I gave a few guidelines for what I wanted and just from that she knew exactly what I needed! I feel dashing, handsome, and confident in my new clip! I cannot recommend level 3 stylist Meg McRoberts for color. I am 58 and she left toner on my natural silver hair for 45 minutes and turned my hair pinkish purple. It was the third time I saw her and trusted her; a total mistake. Mgr Sarah Knapp did some service recovery however I had to wait 8 days for a fix to make my hair tolerable and it will take weeks for the toner to fade, months to return to my natural silver. I will probably cut my hair short so it can grow out. The look is not me, does not look professional nor is it what I wanted or asked for. It's been an emotionally horrible ordeal for a middle aged woman wanting to feel good about herself. Run away! read more

Total scam when it comes to pricing. Did a walk in, pricing menu shows "$39+". I assumed the price was $39. When I get to the register I am told it was $52, when I inquired about the difference I was told that the barber was "a level 4"; whatever that means. There is no explanation of the pricing anywhere; furthermore, the website describes the short cut as, "Short hair starting above the jawline. Either all shears, razor, clippers or any combination. Shampoo, short scalp massage and condition, hot towel, and flash style.". I did not receive any shampoo, scalp massage, condition, or hot towel. Complete rip off. $52 for a 15 minute cut is ridiculous. Will never go back and would encourage others to go to a salon, at least you will get your moneys worth for a cut at that price. read more

I started going to the one in Ballard a couple of years ago because it was literally down the street from where I lived, and upon leaving the People's Republic of Seattle in 2019 I was happy to find another Rudy's in my neck of the woods. The appointments are quick and efficient. They seem to have scheduling down to a science and have never run late for any of my appointments. Covid has been brutal on places like this, please come out and get your haircut here. If you don't need a cut, consider buying some product from here. read more

Buzzcut (they shave ur head) - 25$ for that LOL Shortcut they are mediocre at best - for 44$ Barbers here are spoiled mouthy people. I didnt come here to make ur day better by talking to u, I came here for a good haircut AND YOU DIDNT GIVE ME A GOOD ONE. Also, you have bigger problems if you are relying on tips, because you all dont deserve one. I've been here a few times now. I find the quality and experience of the cuts to be wildly uneven. My latest cut felt rushed, in and out in 10 minutes. I felt like a dog -- shave 'em and let 'em loose. Didn't get a wash out or styled either -- stuff that brought me to Rudy's in the first place, and helps validate the price for me. I know, I know -- I should have just asked. That's a personal failing of mine. But I think it's telling that I never have to ask for this stuff at other Rudy's locations I've been to in Columbia City, Fremont and Ballard. It's just a part of the service. At the Tacoma location, I sometimes get the feeling I'm either dealing with someone new or someone who wants to get through the service as quickly as possible. I won't assume to know which -- maybe it's something else entirely -- but whatever it is, I don't feel particularly valued as a customer, nor getting value for my money. I wish this place was up to the standard of other Rudy's locations, as it's the closest one to my home and it's a hassle to schedule hair cuts around errands in Seattle. But going to Tacoma Rudy's just seems like a gamble. It could be great, but you never know. And to the credit of their manager, or whoever handles their customer service, I know they will leave a kind and helpful reply to this and try to make things right. But I suppose I'm writing this review because it's not as simple as fixing a haircut. It's not an awful cut, it just reminds me of the no-frills $15 haircut down the street, not the quality of cut or in-shop experience that I get at other locations and at a price point like this. Rudy's is THE BEST. It has a fun vibe, occasional dogs, and an overall friendly atmosphere. I've had great cuts from a number of stylists there, but Clif is my new go-to guy! He possesses excellent cutting skills and will cut exactly the way you want it. And, he's a nice, friendly guy, to boot! I decided to try Clif after witnessing him cut another guy's hair. He was an older guy with fairly long hair, a beard, not clean cut by any means, and was very grumpy. I truly wouldn't have known where to even start with this guy. I watched Clif using a different approach than I'd seen in the past, so I kept casually observing. Long story short, when the cut was done and this guy looked in the mirror he got the biggest smile I'd ever seen. HUGE SMILE! He was beaming with delight. And he didn't strike me as a smile kind of person. He was so happy it made me smile. It was obvious a good haircut was not something he was accustomed to. Almost as if he'd *never* had a haircut that good. It was truly something incredible to witness. I regress. Anyway, Vanessa and Kirby have also done a nice job for me. My only compliant is that their online appointment system doesn't always work perfectly. Check this place out. I've never seen anyone walk out of there with anything less than a perfect haircut/style. They also have a wide range of products (and beer, I think)! Top-notch! read more

So today I went to get my hair cut at Rudy's Barbershop and my experience was underwhelming. The woman who cut my hair does not know how to do a fade. There was no attention to detail with my hair, for 40 dollars she should of spent more than 19 mins on my hair. Other barbershops give a set time for a service at Rudy's they try to get through your haircut as quick as possible. She took the clippers and quickly buzzed the sides of my head. I ask for a line up and instead I got receding hairline because she kept cutting my hairline further and further away from my forehead. It's super great that they are allies for the LGBTQ+ community but that doesn't make up for the lack of talent. I will not be coming back. Does anyone have a recommendation for a quality barbershop in Tacoma? UPDATE After reading the managers response now I'm even more frustrated. If you knowingly are aware that some barbers cut on shorter appointments then those cut should not cost the same as the barbers who take longer and put more time into their cuts. Take a look at other barber shops charging the same price you are and their services are timed anywhere between 45 mins - 50 mins. This lady cut my hair in 19 mins. What exactly is that you "guarantee" about your cuts? I do not feel inclined to give a the shop another try. Even the young man who checked me out while I was paying was not kind nor did ask how my cut/experience was and being that it was my first time there I think that is something he should of done. As a receptionist he should be representing the barber shop better. I appreciate you responding to my post because I know what it's like to run a business but I think the first step should be to reevaluate who you have working for you and ensuring enough time spent on your " guaranteed" cuts. read more

Well this is a huge bummer. I had an appointment but arrived 6 minutes late due to the proctor farmers market taking up all the parking within two blocks of the barber shop. I ended up having to park a couple blocks away and it took me 6 minutes to speed walk there from my car. By the time I got in the door, out of breath, they had given my appointment to a walk-in because of a "five minutes late" policy, and my appointment ended up getting cancelled. I'm extremely disappointed as I really needed to get my hair cut today and now I'll have to find somewhere else to go at the last minute. I had a babysitter lined up for this for my daughter, and now I have to pay them and cancel, and this just adds up. I rarely get to do things for myself like get a nice hair cut and hire a babysitter for my child and I'm honestly feeling like I should just give up on ever trying to do things like this for myself because this was just such a huge hassle and disappointment. Honestly, Rudy's could easily provide much more professional and courteous service by understanding the parking issue and giving extra time, or warning customers ahead of time to plan extra time to walk several blocks, or even letting people know when they make an appointment that they have an extremely strict late policy and to arrive early to check in - all of those would have made a huge difference for me and I would have been able to actually get my hair cut when I needed it and had made an appointment ahead of time. What a bummer though. I was excited to try out a new place based on recommendations from friends, but not anymore. I'm now going back to my old place because they are much more professional and it's easy to find out the information I need to know ahead of time. What a waste of time and money. read more

Does it make me a stalker if I get a great haircut from a specific stylist and he leaves the place he was at before and I track him down? Yes....yes it does. But great hairstylist are hard to find and I will be that stalker for a great do! Kyle is that stylist. After getting a mediocre haircut by 3 others after him...I just wasn't satisfied. Found out he worked at Rudy's and made an appointment and he didn't disappoint. I will continue to keep coming back. This place is clean, professional, welcoming and everyone is so friendly.
