Statesville Hidden Gem…read more Don't normally visit this store but had a wardrobe malfunction (belt broke) and I needed an immediate replacement. Choices were Belk's in Statesville or Kohl's in Mooresville and this one was closer. May have visited sometime in the past to pay a bill but that would have probably have been 10 years ago and things have changed a lot since them. 10 years ago, Signal Hill Mall of which this is an anchor was still viable with a JC Penney's and Sears as the other anchors but they have long since gone. Today the mall is down to just a few stores and is basically abandoned with very few tenants and visitors. Belk has pretty much cut themselves off from the Mall with what used to be the Mall entrance, closed off with glass. Don't know if it is true or not but I've been told that the only reason Belk keeps this store open is that they are the landlord and they own the property. Still not expecting much I was very pleasantly surprised when I walked into the store. Nice and bright and well organized with very good selections. If I had to guess, I would say that it is larger than their Mooresville store. Needless to say, almost deserted and that was reflected in the level of staffing. Employees were covering multiple departments and generally you found what you wanted and took it a one of several locations for check out. Not to say that you could not get assistance because they were very helpful and directed me to where I needed to go and answered any of my questions. Not the optimum experience but considering Covid, it worked. In the end, a very pleasant shopping experience. Good selection of merchandize and pricing was very good and comparable to the rest of the Belk Platform.

Visited the store today and it was very light on merchandise to be such a nice store. Maybe they are low on inventory due to COVID closures, but the store is clean and tidy and well organized. The only drawback I saw was the lack of choice here compared to similar sized stores.

I'm a huge TJ Maxx addict/fan so I shop here quite often! This location/store, in my opinion, has…read morealways been fairly organized but as with any discount store such as this there are often days when you go in and it looks like cyclones have been through. I feel this location/store is rather small and that could add to the messy feel at times. Despite having to pick up misplaced items or sort through the hodgepodge (mostly in the clearance section), I love to shop at any TJ Maxx to save money on brand name items, especially clothing for my son and I and shoes for me! Saving money on brand name clothing is especially important when you have teenagers that insist on being trendy or "branded" as I call it. Please note the clothing is past/previous year so all teens may not go for this! This store has plenty of brand name clothing for men, women and children but only has shoes for women. However, this is standard for TJ Maxx. I feel this location doesn't have as many big brands like The North Face, Hilfiger or my personal favorite, Lucky Brand as other locations but that could be because those items don't sell as well in our small town. Bigger brand equal bigger price tag even here at TJ Maxx! This store has a good selection of luggage and purses, as well as home goods. I have often found good buys in the home goods section. It's kind of like going on a treasure hunt of sorts! Some people like to go to yard sales, flea markets or Goodwill but I prefer TJ Maxx for my bargain scores! TJ Maxx is a really great place to shop for gifts at Christmas, too! There's generally an entire area at the end of the women's clothing section specifically dedicated to inexpensive gifts. Yes, another score for me! I, also, like their specialty foods section, jewelry and pet section. I found dried persimmons a couple years ago and now my Dad is hooked on them. I see/purchase 2-3 bags during the Christmas season. Not sure if it's a seasonal item or not. I have purchased numerous watches and jewelry pieces from TJ Maxx over the years! I purchase my pet beds here, too! This location is my go to store because TJ Maxx is my favorite store to shop in and it's convenient! If I don't find what I'm looking for here, I just go to a larger one in a surrounding town. Do yourself a favor and go on a treasure hunt in this TJ Maxx today! You never know what goodies you'll find until you start digging, especially in the clearance section at the back of the store! I've never had an issue with poor customer service at this location but in my experiences, you don't really interact with staff until you reach the registers for check out. Staff have always been pleasant to me! I'm so glad Statesville has this TJ Maxx!

PSA - Hampton's Buyer Beware: Store Credit Only, Unexpected $150 Restocking Fee and Refund Policy…read more(Update - response to owner comments at bottom) I discovered Hampton's Men through a Facebook ad and placed a $1,400 online order for a sport coat I had never seen or tried on in person. When it arrived, I decided it was not for me. I never even removed it from its packaging to try it on. I promptly returned the unopened item. Only then did I learn that returning it would cost me $40 in shipping, plus a $150 restocking fee that was not clearly disclosed during the ordering process. What surprised me even more was Hampton's Men's refund policy. Even after paying the restocking fee and return shipping, a refund to your original payment method is not guaranteed. Based on the policy, the company has complete discretion over whether to issue one. In my case, I was left asking the owner to make an exception just to receive the remaining $1,250 from an unopened return. That is not the customer experience I expect when making a $1,400 online purchase from a retailer I discovered through Facebook advertising and product photography. The owner told me he would "work with me," and I hope he ultimately does the right thing by issuing a full refund to my original form of payment. Until then, my advice to prospective customers is simple: read Hampton's return policy very carefully before ordering. Make sure you understand that an unopened return may still cost you return shipping, a $150 restocking fee, and that a refund to your original payment method may not be automatic. -------- Tyler, The most concerning issue is NOT the $150 restocking fee. It is that Hampton's can accept the returned merchandise, retain a customer's original payment, and provide only store credit instead of a refund to the original payment method. That is a material restriction. In my view, it should be clearly and prominently disclosed in the Facebook advertisement, on the product page, and before checkout, not simply placed on a separate Return Policy page. Had I understood that Hampton's could keep my $1,400 after I returned the coat and issue only store credit, I would not have made the purchase. For clarity, I opened the shipping box to view the sport coat, but I did not break the plastic seal, remove the coat from its packaging, or try it on. I returned it promptly in the same sealed condition. What is especially troubling is your admission that you initially intended to "work with me," but changed course after I posted reviews about my experience. In other words, the decision about whether I would receive my money back appears to have turned on whether you approved of my criticism. A customer returning a substantial online purchase should not have to rely on the owner's personal goodwill, or remain silent publicly, to receive a refund to the original payment method. Consumers deserve to understand that before doing business with Hampton's.
