Honestly, I was not even aware they had a factory store, but it is still no surprise to me that they do. When we got here, I wasn't even sure that we were here at first. It is very unassuming outside and the parking lot is a bit of a mess. You really can't tell were you are supposed to park, but you figure it out eventually. Also, the sign is kind of hidden from the road, so when you pull up you really don't see it. You walk a small path and you are inside the store. That is after you open the door with the pretzel handles first. Once you are inside you are off to the races and able to pick whatever flavor or style of pretzels you want. They also have other snack items here as well ranging from chips to popcorn. I ended up grabbing myself a snack item to eat in the car. Items come in bags or boxes. There are signs hanging all around with the prices or deals that might be going on for a certain item. What is a bit off putting here is the customer service. The ladies working the register can be quite terse at times. They kind of want to just get you through the register as fast as they can so that you can get out of the store as fast as you can. But you can do it a bit more politely. As for the older reviews that say they don't take cards, I'm fairly sure five years time and that is corrected at this point.

And somehow, they are all busy. It's no surprise that they chose Belsano as a location for one of their stores. I know their plan is to open a location just about every five miles, or at least that was the plan. But in this area, it is getting ridiculous. I stopped here with my brother on a recent visit just to poke around and say that we were here. Of course we also were looking for snacks and drinks and in this area, there is nothing else to stop at for those. I missed my chance to turn in here coming the one way and had to do a weird turn further up the road and make my way into the parking lot. Surprisingly the inside of this location was rather well put together and stocked. I am going to chalk that up to this being a newer store with employees that aren't beat down just yet. We were able to find everything we needed, and made our way to the register to check out. Like most locations they have self checkout, but they aren't allowed to be used. So you have to stand in line for the one register open to get checked out. All in all, not a bad store, but it is still new. It will go through it's growing pains here shortly and probably fall in line with how the rest of the locations are currently running.

I've been going to Roaring Spring Department Store since I was a little girl. My mother used to…read moretell me stories about going there when she was a little girl. It is the first place I go for anything I need, because the store usually has it. I have gone to Altoona and wasted my time going from store to store looking for an item I need, without success, then stopping at the Department Store and finding it! My husband said, "I told you--it is best to always check at the Roaring Spring Department Store first." For about a year, I've been looking for a certain kind of embroidery hoop that a quilt magazine called for to do a certain technique. I couldn't find it in JoAnn's in Altoona and I couldn't find it online. I went to the Department Store to look for a piece of fabric to match an odd green color of a shirt I needed to repair (found it!) and then I browsed the sewing aisles. Lo and behold!--there was the embroidery hoop I had been searching for--in two sizes! Also, I would be remiss not to mention how helpful all the staff can be. From furniture, to hardware, to fabric, to garden supplies, and more--thanks for being there for me when I need something!
