Appropriate name for the business given the heavy-hand of the barber and the unclean tools irritating the back of neck w/o after shave. From time of walking in and walking out this Friday afternoon took bout 2hrs 15mins with 5 people ahead of me. A 3-chair shop that had two barbers cutting today. Ambiance and vibe seemed homey, as it was evident the people seemed to know each other and frequent the place. Not being from the area, I was just looking for a quick fade along the sides. I get being busy, but recognizing it took over two hours to have 5 people go through was.. impressively dragged out. By the time I got to the chair, an older patron walked in soliciting a magnum, brandishing it tryna sell to one of the barbers. As I sat they were haggling n talking price of the gun this dude brought in, barber then called his buddy and they chatted for bout five mins while I sat in the chair. Barber's call ended and he chatted the dude a bit more. Bout 10mins of sitting in the chair, barber finally interacted with me for the first time of coming in the building asking how I wanted my hair cut. That was the only time the barber spoke to me, as he went back to haggling for that dudes magnum, a rifle.. talking to other patrons. As a first time customer, that poor service and interaction put me off. Almost as much as realizing there wasn't a vial of barbicide on the counters of shaker cups, energy drink cans, and messy appearance, and when he initially started combing my hair, a different colored length of hair was coming from the comb he didn't clean was falling on me and being used on my head. Every time he'd grab my head to cut or buzz, it was heavy-handed. Which I've never used to describe a barber, but GD, was like watching a 3yo aggressively pat a cat hahahah head kept bopping each time. When he went to square up my neck, he pressed ..harder? Than I've realized barbers may, and went back and forth over the neck. Realizing his comb and clippers weren't cleaned from the previous customer/whenever was the last time, I'm now dealing with an inflamed and irritated neck from the cut. Wasn't asked/offered aftershave or product like most barbershops. Was told 20$, asked him to break a 20$ and was planning on giving him a 10% tip given the service, but he only gave me fives back and didn't ask how I wanted it broken up. Honestly advise anyone checking out this place to give a different spot a look over. Oh, and I guess they're cash only? I'm glad I called and asked, as I didn't see a sign in/on the establishment stating so. So, heads up there. "Ruff" indeed, y'all. Do not recommend. An average cut with below-average customer service & interaction warrants the rating. Homely appearance outside and in; unprofessional. Is it normal in this state for someone to come in with a gun, show it to the patrons and barber, and to forget the customer to call a buddy? Try somewhere else to avoid a 2+hr wait. read more

Thay do a good job of cutting your hair. They are friendly and sometimes talk too much. Not the place to go if you are in a hurry. Best place for a haircut! I like going there. I don't go anywhere else. read more

Ruff Brothers are very good at cutting hair, I would recommend Ryan but they are all good. The place is sometimes a little busy but it's definitely worth the wait but sometimes it's not busy. Great place to get your haircut and get a fishing or hunting report. I love that the only bad reviews are ones from out of towners and one local afraid of COVID. The guys are always conscious of people's busy schedule and if you call ahead they'll fit you in. Now if only they could get my hair to grow back.... read more

I stopped in to the Ruff Brothers for a standard barber haircut. This is a traditional barbershop, where I was able to get a great cut at a great price. Masks are optional, so this place may not be for everybody (during Covid-19) but, they do great work at a great price. I did have to wait nearly an hour so call ahead. read more

Best barbers in the area. I'm very picky about my hair, but they get it right every time. Not only that, but they are great people and they are amazing with my eleven year old son. My son refuses to get his hair cut anywhere else, as do I. And I can't wait until my one year old grows enough hair so I can bring him along too. These guys are the best barbers in the area. Sandman has good barbers but you have to call ahead and I like to do the drive by method. Find the barber you like and go to the same one. One guy seems to lean toward a tight crew cut every time. They are affordable and quick. Hell the day before my wedding my regular barber poured me a shot and gave me a free haircut. I'd give them a 10 but Yelp only lets you give 5. A great old school barber shop atmosphere. Its run by 3 brothers, who's banter alone is worth the trip. I got a great cut with a straight razor neck shave, eye brow trim, and hair tonic all for $12 from Ryan, but all the brothers look like they know how to cut hair! If your looking for a salon type experience this won't "cut It"....but if you want a great hair cut, shave this is the place. The Brothers Ruff. This place is the best place to get a haircut. Ran by three brothers. They are all super nice except Richie. Richie needs hugs. They usually have super friendly dogs out front or inside. It's first come first served. They are great with kids. The only compliant I have is that I should always get to cut the line. Anyways, come give them a try. You'll fall in love with them the same way Belle fell in love with the Beast thru Stockholm Syndrome. Great place! read more

Ruff Bros. Barber Shop. Wow, nice, comfortable, an easy place to be around. What can you say about THIS PLACE? Oh yeah these guys give a great...haircut/service. The technique to battle covid 27 or whatever bullshit is extraordinary. If your free that day for a cut, just call & put your name in. They will do their very best to get you in. Dont wait too late in the day. Most folks like them are booked up 4 more than 2 months. That's totally unacceptable. These guys look out for the folks they serve. Great place and even when it's crowded they move quickly. All 3 brothers give a great cut. I schlepp up from New Buffalo for a fresh cut. Love the dogs and between the boys and the cast of characters that show up in the chairs, I'm always entertained! And you can't beat $12. Dropped by ruffs on a business trip and I was pleasantly surprised. Before you walk in, there is a huge dog that greets you at the door. The dog aka Ruff is really friendly and welcoming. They have three chairs and really friendly barbers that do a top notch hair cut for around $12. I will definitely return if I'm in town again. read more

Visiting friends and needed a haircut, so I googled barbershops and found this shop. I like old style barbershops instead of "hairstylist" places. I found it to be a barbershop right out of old Andy Griffith show. The parking lot was packed with cars and their friendly dog greeted me. I entered the shop and found it was full of customers. I had time so I sat down and waited. The barbers were laid back and making conversation with all of the customers. Seem like their customers are regulars. The barbers were very good at cutting hair and detail oriented. Be warned they don't take credit cards. I didn't know, but Ryan the barber trusted me and cut me hair. Cost was $10. I found that they don't offer shaves on Fridays and unfortunately I arrived too late for a shave on this trip. I will definitely be back to get another hair cut and a shave. read more
