Frederic's genius and craft are in tailoring cut and color to a unique style that is manageable and rarely looks grown out. (I never realize I'm due for new highlights until I receive that appointment reminder call from reception!) His knowledge about hair type and proper maintenance has you leaving the salon with more than a great look--you leave with a new appreciation for the hair you have and insight to better hair care. I've been a regular customer for several years. And through COVID I did whatever I could to protect others. When the vaccine came available, I got both shots as early as I possibly could. Recently the owner had to cancel my appt due to some respiratory issue. When rescheduling I asked if the owners had had covid test and their vaccines, as was told (in no uncertain terms) that they were refusing to get vaccinated. Sorry to say this is a deal breaker for me. I wish the salon well, but will not put myself further at risk. read more

I normally go to a different Aveda salon, but on the day of my appointment (the day before I was leaving for a two week vacation), my hairdresser went home sick and the salon said they couldn't get anyone else to take me that evening short notice. I was in a panic and googled for an Aveda salon that was still open after 5pm in the area. When I called and spoke with Frederic, he was SO kind! Even though they were supposed to close at 6, and my cut and color takes about two hours, and I wasn't going to get there before 5:30, he told me he'd stay late to do my hair! He did an phenomenal job (better than what I'm used to). No rushing, as some of these other reviews indicate. Even though it was a little pricier, it was worth every penny! I already have another appointment booked, and I highly recommend! PS. I got TONS of compliments on my hair while on the cruise we left for the next day. :) read more

The most exensive beauty salon all over the world. Even the tecnique is the worst. How I was wonder when I Pay, he said my price was $498.00. He said hair dye is $220.00. Even MAXIN in Chicago is just $90.00. Anyway, he asked to me something when he washed my hair, but I couldn't hear well. Just when I said, "Yes", he waxed my eyebrow imediatlly. And I could know he asked to me about "Eyeblow wax". Also after hair dye, he required to me "Sit down the dryer chair". It was some treatment of hair. Also after the dryer chair, he asked to me shit down again at the front of some cosmetic.Even I didn't order him, he started the make up. Even I didn't ordered, he charged the treatment, Eyebrow wax, make up. Also he recommened to me to buy AVEDA products. If I have 2products, he can gives me 1 free product. I choised 3 and he gave me the most cheepest product by free. I don't like to call to my lawyer. It's a reason I paid $489.00. But this is a compleatlly tricky bussiness. Normally anybody doesn't accept to this type of monky bussiness. Also he said, "I'm best beauty staff in USA, this is a reason my price is expensive. I can't believe him. Because he didn't know AVEDA products makes very deep blacky coler for the person who has black original hair coler. Normaly proffeshinal has to choise one to two tone light coler for ther client who has black hair. I head from French hair dye specialist in Tokyo after this bad experience. Anyway, my hair got to be very deep black like a Anjelica Huston in Adam's Family. Also it was very hard to wipe for hair dye products he put all over my face, even his aunt was helped me. I cannot recommend this place enough! From the moment you get to the front door to when you leave the salon you feel so special due to their professionalism and attentiveness. They give every single customer their full attention and make you feel like one of a kind. I told Frederic to do what he thinks is best with my hair and it looks absolutely fabulous. Before he made any change to my hair he let me know exactly what he was doing with great detail. I left with a HUGE smile on my face If you're in the Southwest Michigan area, I highly recommend giving this salon a visit. I live in Minneapolis and came home for Christmas and needed to cut and dye my hair so I'll be coming back to Michigan to get my hair done from now on thanks to Frederic! read more

I am a regular customer of this salon and it upsets me that the negative reviews are the only ones that are shown. I get my hair cut here every six weeks and I have NEVER seen or heard Frederic or Kimberly being less than caring or non professional. I have always been very happy with all the services they offer, and their knowledge of Aveda products are exceptional. Don't let the 'haters' take away what could be your best haircut, color or mani/pedi ever! read more

If I could give a half star I would. Fredrick charged 40.00 for a treatment he added in without notifying me. He said "I'm going to go ahead and put on a glossing treatment". It was my first time in the salon. On a friday night he had 2 customers total in the span I was there which was 2 hours and 45 mins. Fredrick had me hold plastic and "help him" do my hair. He knew I asked for a partial highlight and gave me a full highlight. No receipt was given. He was RUDE, SLOW and stuck on himself. His work was terrible. I left spending 120.00 as I didn't tip since I was told it would be 80.00 service. This is poor business practice. No wonder they had to move from downtown st. Joe, they don't have the client base!! I was so upset I called and asked that the 40.00 be returned to my card. He said it was "Too bad". For a service I didn't ask for. If you like being ripped off and treated badly and spending 3 times longer getting your hair done, then I highly reccomend this place. Otherwise, look for them to be out of business. I wish I read the review of this salon before I got my hair cut and colored because I had a similar experience. It is the most expensive hair cut and color I have ever received. I looked on line to check prices and they seemed in line with Oak Brook Mario Tricosi where I normally get my hair done so I thought I would give this salon a try since I just moved into the area. This place is outrageously expensive. I had no clue that my eyebrows dyed to match my hair would cost 25.00. This has ALWAYS BEEN A COMPLIMENTARY SERVICE NO MATTER WHERE I GO and Frederic made it seem like he does everyone's eyebrows. As with a customer in the other review, Frederic wrapped my hair and put me under the dryer without asking if I wanted another treatment. To color my hair cost me 140 dollars. Add in the eyebrow fee and the cut and my bill was 205.00. I was in a state of shock. I automatically added a 20 percent tip like I always do and the bill came to 245.00. I drove away feeling like I'd been had!!! After about an hour, I drove back to the salon and asked Frederic if he could adjust his price because I felt misled and it was my first time in his shop where services he performed were not normally charged. He said "No, these were his prices and that is what I owed him." At this point the only choice I had was to ask for the 40.00 tip back because I said I felt he was VERY misleading. He begrudgingly did so. I will never go back to this salon. I hate my hair cut and will be spending money on another cut so someone can fix what he did to my hair. I have never written a single review in my life but these practices are unfair and I could only hope that someone reading this before they go might actually change their mind. read more

Let's just say this guy didn't seem to have experience dealing with curly hair. I have pretty damaged hair from processing...he kept asking whether or not I'd permed my hair, which I found incredibly annoying and also a bit rude as I'd already told him the reason for the damage (bleaching). He cut my hair and then proceeded to try and smooth it dry with a blow dryer and his (wait for it) fingers. I left the salon feeling like an idiot for having dropped fifty dollars to walk out looking like a poodle. He rushed through my cut and did not blow my hair out to look sleek, and styled. A flat iron or curling iron (which he had several of) would have helped with that, but I felt that he did not want to spend the extra time. I felt really cheated, actually, because he left in the middle of my blow out to mix color for another client. Overall, really unsatisfied...I would sooner cut my own hair than ever give this place a dime of my money. If you don't have enough time in the day for your clients, then perhaps you need to cut down on how many people you see, especially as you charge women a base of 45 dollars for a hair cut and "style". read more
