Beginning the high-intensity interval training at Uncommon Athlete has been life changing. I feel no pressure. I am shocked by the often 1:1 attention I get from the coaches - I feel like I have a personal trainer. I enjoy the routines. My aches and pains are accomodated. My limits are pushed, by me and by the coaches. This is the first exercise regimen I have stuck with in more than 20 years. I haven't missed a week where I didn't get in my three classes. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, caring, courteous, and understanding. I cannot give a higher recommendation to this gym. If you need help, seek them out. If you are in a solo environment where you are now, switch to these guys. I you are in a toxic gym environment, leave now and seek out Uncommon Athlete. You will not regret it.

I have done…read moreCrossFit classes before but specifically wanted some personal attention on my weightlifting form. I was willing to pay extra for that attention. CrossFit Menawa advertises personal coaching on their website, so I did not think it would be the problem it became. I e-mailed CrossFit Menawa and they told me to come by and talk to Craig, the owner, about it. I dropped by several times on different days but Craig was never there. Staff would tell me to come back at a day and time Craig would be in, I would return then, and he still wouldn't be there. Then, even after I told the staff there I was only interested in some personal weightlifting coaching, not CrossFit classes, the staff still attempted to pressure me into the regular CrossFit classes. All I got was classic CrossFit sales pitch, which is fine, but is not why I was there. I don't know how attentive the staff can be if they ignore what you say and pressure you into something else. I would avoid this gym between it's absent owner, dismissive staff, and obvious bait and switch sales techniques.

After I retired at 67, my arthritis, already bad, worsened. I gradually shifted to more and more…read moresedentary activities. I'm in my mid 70's and decided if I want to live much longer, I'd better get more active. I know of so many older people who fall and break their hip, then die, I assume due to congestive heart failure. Ive not taken good care of myself, particularly with diet, sleep, and now exercise. My husband had being going to CrossFit CSG for 2 years with amazing results. Although he also started taking krav maga at the same time, I don't think he would have lasted without the custom conditioning and training provided by the gym owner, Joanne Cogle. Ms. Cogle has helped my husband regain his strength, lose weight, and get strong. I started going to her a few months ago and whereas I was starting to walk stooped and in pain, she has improved my balance, mobility, posture, and outlook tremendously, and the benefits of each visit are noticeable. I do have some issues that are systemic, but she works around those and helps me feel stronger and younger every week. So much so, that I recently taking personal ju jitsu lessons as well. First off, I went there because my hotel, 1 block away had a terable out dated gym. At 5:30 am I crossed the street and dropped in on what was the beginning of a workout. Not only did they welcomed me but everyone one there a total of about 20-25 participant treated me as though I belonged there. What a work out it was. There equipment is top notch. Although, this is not my first experience, I…read morereally appreciated the patience that the owner, Doraine, had with me as I start to incorporate yoga back into my workout routine. I attended the "Yoga for Lunch" session and really enjoyed the class. I appreciated that the course wasn't just driven around stretching and posing, but also incorporated spiritual health and meditation. It was a much needed break from my work day. I look forward to continuing to attend Yoga Inspired classes and sincerely encourage you to give it a try. Both advanced persons and beginners will love the atmosphere and experience.
