I chose to visit this location after purchasing a special deal on Spa Week. I was interested in experiencing the Herbal Citrus Manicure and Pedicure. Considering citrus is my favorite scent, I should not be gaslit into thinking I received the correct package when it smells like mint. This is my first negative review for any business, but my experience at Rumor Has It Nail Salon was so dreadful that I felt compelled to share. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The salon itself is run-down, grimy, and ceiling is covered in mildew. It's far from the clean, professional environment you expect from a salon. My pedicure was a complete disaster. The technician sliced my toe open with a tool, creating a deep, painful gash about an inch long. Not only did she not apologize, but she also seemed irritated when the bleeding wouldn't stop and simply kept stuffing cotton balls on it before moving on. To make matters worse, the water wand was broken and sprayed water into my lap every time she turned it on. The technician didn't even attempt to fix it. I paid for the full works, but it was evident that the equipment was in poor condition. The hot stones, which should have been heated, were room temp maybe the heater was broken or malfunctioning. Despite clearly stating that I didn't want my finger nails cut down, she proceeded to file them down to little nubs. And the cuticles weren't trimmed at all, even though that was part of the package I purchased. My nails look terrible with polish that's uneven and doesn't cover the entire nail. I never ever ask for a discount even when one is deserved. Not only was a discount not offered, the front desk person seemed offended by my small 15% tip. What's most disappointing though, is not the $175.00 (It was 175.32 but she graciously rounded down to 175 bucks) I spent, but the complete lack of empathy for the serious cut on my toe, which will likely hurt for some time. I will never return to Rumour Has It Nail Salon and strongly advise others to stay away. At first I was skeptical but this place definitely took me by surprise! It has a luxury feel to it, with a price to match, all in all, worth the price. I booked an appointment on Friday at 6:30pm for a cupping massage for 30 minutes . I was greeted by the receptionist and offered water, while I waited for the masseuse to get my room ready. I would say it is a little on the over priced side but you are paying for quality. Usually a full set will last me 2 weeks but here it went 3 weeks which is a good reason to spend a little extra. Came here as they were the only nail salon in the area that was open past 7pm on a Thursday evening before I had to leave town. I paid $75 for a gel mani + regular pedi, and while the pedi by Ikeya was perfect and great (hence the extra star), I feel like I could have painted my own finger nails and done a better job. The lady left my fingers soaking in foil and acetone for way too long (they started hurting), and it dried out my fingers so bad that they started cutting, cracking, and bleeding literally that same night. No cuticle oil was applied post-manicure so that may have been a big reason too, my fingers are never this dried out. I'm very disappointed I paid $40 for a manicure that was done so poorly. While I won't ask for a refund, I will probably never return even as a last resort. The lack of attention to detail for my manicure was horrible. read more

The customer service was A+ however I got shellac/gel on my hands and feet on 12/2 and it is now 12/7 and my right hand is peeling on almost every nail. My left hand looks good. My pedicure was good, the paint is a little uneven but it's such a light color that you can barely tell. However, to pay $118 for gel mani and gel pedi, I don't think I'd be able to justify returning. My husband and I came in for a couples massage and pedicures. I am a massage therapist and the drapping for the client was very lackadaisical. We both felt exposed during the massage the entire time. The therapist only did my shoulders and nothing else. After the massage we got pedicures and my nail tech did not speak English and my husband's barely as well. My nail tech cut my nail too short and it has been hurting all day along with my feet being itchy. We don't visit that area often but we won't be going back. TLDR: don't do nails there. Massage is fine. This experience was so bizarre, I really don't know where to start. I definitely felt like I didn't get what I paid for. I went in, and was greeted by a lady on a screen. That's fine, but the tech didn't speak English, and I think they were short-staffed. I used google translate, which was okay. The massage and eyebrow tint were okay... Nails and pedi took three hours, and they're all bubbly and not great. I've literally never complained or given a review this bad. They charged me to reshape them even though I kept the same shape. For nails, dip removal, pedi, eyebrow tint & 15-minute massage, I paid $202. The owner asked me how it was and I kinda made a face about the nails (because I'm one of those people who can't control my expressions), but I just wanted to leave after being there for four hours... they were extremely rough on my nails, burning my nail bed a few times... I felt like it was the first time the nail tech was doing nails, although I think she's a nice person... I didn't want to complain, but I immediately wished that I went to my typical spot (my normal place to go is Heights Salon on Yale). The owner said this was "normal" argued with me for a while, telling me to come back to get them fixed... she said they "don't really do nails mostly" To the owner: I don't care if you've been in business for 13 years or how many people request the nail tech. I think the atmosphere overall was nice. I was the only person getting my nails done on a Saturday morning (which is very rare in most salons I've experienced). It seemed quiet & relaxing. I think overall the nail tech did an ok job. I don't think it was perfect and there is some overhang of polish on my toes. The thing that turned me off was the fact that I didn't see her change her gloves during the whole process or even after she finished with me. Complete rip off. The owner is a con artist. Do not trust this woman. I should have seen the red flag, when she accepted my request for mani/pedi with white tips full set 30 minutes before close. I called and spoke with the owner to ask if they could as I can take the word "no". I assumed they would have had two techs working like most places. I arrived within the eta I gave over the phone and was told to sit in the waiting area. Assuming they knew what they were doing (they did just not what is normal), so I was glad to be patient. She brings me back finally to the chair (there were 4 empty chairs). She begins working on the feet first herself. (Perhaps the techs were all busy who I saw come from the back of the salon about 15 minutes into the service). I chose a regular nude color polish for my toes with parafin wax add on only. Specifically said I need my cuticles as the focus. Not once did anyone of the three people who rotated between my hands and feet (not simultaneously) ever use a cuticle trimmer. I was hesitant to say anything - my fault - should have spoken up- but the environment was chaotic and close to closing time with no other customers). Once my feet are finished (10 minutes) then another tech came out to work on my nails. The owner had left to go home shortly before. Told me I had to pay them in full then as the tech for my pedicure was going home. (Not sure the correlation) but I also anyways and never got a receipt as I paid cash for the service then added 30$ tip for their services. The lady took the tip and then bounced. Final issue was as I'm questioning the lady who didn't speak a word of English paitning white halfway down my natural nail bed as though it were a French manicure! I told her that's not what I paid for and she immediately refused to finish and told the other tech left she was going home and left. Why she placed my nials under the gel lamp for clear polish on natural nail - I don't know. In the end, when I realized the trick the owner had pulled - I told her I will come back the next day to work it out and I needed a receipt for money I paid. I came here as it was one of the few places available last week that opened up after COVID. I give it 2 stars for the ease of parking, customer service, and my pedicure as that was A+ What drops it to 2 stars is my dip manicure, unfortunately. I have been getting my nails dipped for many years at a variety of salons so I know what to expect. They did 3 layers of the color dip powder, which is good. What wasn't good was the base powder and the top coat, apparently. Normally the top coat is a liquid that take a couple minutes to air dry but here they did a shellac top coat that required the UV light.... I specifically have my nails dipped to avoid the UV light! Also it was only 1 top layer of shellac and it started peeling off within 1 week. The worst part I think is the base coat. I'm not sure what powder or liquid base they used but it was very ineffective. Within 1 week, 2 of my dipped nails completely popped off (see pic)! The only time that has ever happened to me was 7-8 weeks after I had my nails dipped! Within 1 week is inexcusable. I would recommend going elsewhere for a manicure dip. Oh, they also don't put plastic bags in the pedicure tub like other places do for hygienic purposes. read more

I went in at 4:45 and I was excited they were able to work me in before they closed at 6pm. The first job finished up around 6:20pm (lighter pink color). The nails weren't filled in all the way, and there was bare nail showing on the sides of the nails and here was a lot of cotton lent in the polish showing as bumps. They asked me if I wanted to have them redone, but I didn't want to make them stay any longer so I was going to come back in the morning when the opened again. The morning after I went in to get them fixed. I walked in at 10:30 and left at 12:20 with the darker brown set. There isn't even polish coating the entire nail and you can see through to the nail bed. They refused a refund and instead asked me to come back a 3rd time after already spending over three hours there's on two separate dates to try to have them fixed again. Very disappointed in the service provided and would absolutely not recommend going here unless you have absolutely no other options. Try doing your nails at home for better results. read more

Hi Rita, I wanted to attach pics 3 days after we received our services. We did get the military discount - only on his pedicure since he's the vet. I've attached pics of his feet and my nails. I'm not rating your business based on the honest pricing, I'm rating my nails and my fiancé's pedicure - which I don't believe are what you'd expect from such prices. That's all. I'm so happy I found Kim! I've been all over and she is seriously the best. She works fast, but diligently and carefully as to not damage my natural nails. My nails are very thin and have actually gotten stronger & healthier since I started doing the dip with Kim. The salon is open late until 8p, so I call ahead & come after work at 7p & never have any wait..it doesn't get much better than that! The only caveat is their prices, you'll pay more than most places at $50 for the dip, but it lasts twice as long and doesn't damage the real nail, so it's worth it for me. If you've been having trouble finding a good nail tech, I'd highly recommend making an appointment! read more

Received a msg to call for an appt after buying the groupon. Was told i could be seen immediately. Everything was as expected until the shellac. Must have been a bad bottle but because they had another appt they clearly didnt plan for when ok'ing my mani/pedi, i was then subjected to an accelerated attempt to fix the botched polish. I finally had to ask the tech to please stop filing and drilling...my fingers are so sore and bleeding in places...and just put a strengthener coat on. My toenails dont look great either. The front desk didnt ask or offer anything as far as being able to offer feedback and still charged me full price for a pedicure that was cut short and polish botched. Wont return. read more

This place is absolutely filthy and disgusting. The "spa" part is a joke beyond belief. I made the huge mistake of rushing to make an appointment for a late mother's day gift for my mom and I without reviewing it first. I booked a massage and mani pedi for us. The massage: probably the most horrible experience ever. A very dirty rough textured handed male therapist who twice tried to do inappropriate touches with his body to mine and i coiled back when he did. I was horrified and felt so disgusting. He reeked of cigarette smoke. My mom was fine with hers and had a better female therapist. And the room was ridiculously hot and uncomfortable. I was fuming when i was done. The mani pedi was sloppy and messy. The basins were stained and the color options were extremely limited, cheap and old looking and unorganized. I was cut multiple times by the nail tech by the e file pretty deep and she had no idea how to apply acrylics. She gooped it heavily everywhere and due to the overapplication and wasteful technique she had to file endlessly with powder sticking to my shirt the towel sticking to my fingers, a hot mess. My mom could see I was super pissed and I was silent unless telling her to fix this and that as I didn't want to make a scene but I was boiling mad. My fingers hurt so badly for three days from the cuts. My moms nails were also sloppy and average. When done, I left and immediately called complained and all though she tried in vain to defend the trash work, I got some of my money back though she didn't refund my pedicure, from which my skin was red bumpy, dry and itching for 5 days and the old paint color chipped within minutes of leaving the salon despite sitting under the dryer for 10min. Honestly this place is highly unqualified for business. -5 stars. I eventually took off the pedicure and went elsewhere a couple weeks later to redo the acrylics. This place doesn't deserve one star but zero stars isn't an option from which to select. Every towel they used on me looked filthy. I am referring to every single towel from the towels under my feet where one places one's feet before and after submerging into the water, to the towels my hands were placed on during my manicure, to every towel my hands and feet were wiped down with and every towel my legs and forearms were wiped down with, to the towels on both of the armrests of my chair. I was disgusted during my whole manicure and pedicure but too polite to say anything about getting all of the dirty towels away from me. I felt dirty when I left there. I had made an appointment in advance because from there I had to go to an eye doctor appointment that I couldn't miss. When I arrived at the Spa, there was someone sitting right next to the person who was doing my pedicure. The person doing my pedicure was training her. My only problem with this is it was taking considerably longer than if the training was not taking place. It was taking so long that I had to leave without any color on my finger nails nor any color on my toe nails. I had to cancel that portion of both the pedicure and manicure so that I could make it to my eye doctor appointment. Going to Rumor Has It Nail & Day Spa was a negative experience in every way. I wrote them an email and said I could not shake the feeling that I was owed a refund. I only stayed in the first place because I didn't want to be rude. A nail appointment is supposed to be relaxing. My first and last experience was not that. Went in for a pedicure because my usual place didn't have any openings. I was excited to try somewhere new and treat myself to a nice appointment. Instead I endured the Dante's inferno of pedicures. First my feet were burned because the water was too hot. Then the cuticle cuts and filing of my nails was super painful and caused some scrapes. While painting the nails, the acetone seeped into these cuts and caused additional pain. I felt bad for the technician and didn't say much, but I definitely winced in pain often and told her the water was too hot twice. Will not be back! read more

Just left this nail place - not good. I went in for a shellac manicure, and got placed with a lady who was sick and was coughing on me, chewing a cough drop the whole time. She had to leave several times to get another cough drop from coughing attacks. After an hour went by of her removing my shellac, I asked to leave as I now missed a meeting for work. I realized at this point, she didn't speak any English and continued to use the drill to remove my cuticles, causing 3 of my fingers to bleed. She then started painting, and began painting all over my finger, with paint even on the tip of my finger. Due to the language barrier, I was having to use google translate to tell her she was cutting me and to clean up each finger. She still didn't understand and proceeded. At this point, I decided to grab some of her q tips and nail polish remover, and cleaned each finger before she put it in the UV dryer. 2 and 1/2 hours later- paint still everywhere, doing my own nails they still look awful.
