Given that I'm a cocktail-lover with a taste for the finer things in life- when I can afford them- I've always loved enjoying my libations at high altitudes. Let me tell you, this place doesn't disappoint. It's located in Leicester Square, one of London's hottest touristy spots, and has a gorgeous view of the rest of the city in the distance, as well as the shops down below. In the evenings, especially, the city comes alive with bright lights and the sounds of music, foot traffic, and the general hubbub of the city at night. The first downside is how tricky it can be to find this place. According to my Google Maps, I circled the place 5 times before I actually realized I was supposed to enter through Hotel Indigo. Once inside, I was directed to the 9th floor, where I was greeted by one of the swankiest bars I've ever been in. It has several sections to dine/ drink in, and regardless of where they seat you- if you're lucky and it's empty enough, they'll let you choose- you'll be in posh paradise. I preferred the indoor seating with the best view of Leicester Square; they have outdoor seating available, as well, but I wouldn't recommend that on a chilly London evening. However, I would not have minded dining in their unique "jungle room" with hanging foliage- probably fake- and quite the intimate setting. After taking a look at their food menu- and the prices- I decided that a simple cocktail and dessert would be enough for me. To be honest, the food menu didn't give me a very good impression. The price for a simple burger was ridiculous, and with all the cheap restaurants downstairs and up the street, I'd say it's not worth splurging more than necessary if one can avoid it and come out equally satisfied. Following the advice of my server, I went with one of their fruitier cocktails, seeing as the creamy ones were disappointingly absent; and I have to say that, at those prices, I was not impressed. It lacked both balance and flavor, and the mix of ingredients wasn't the best. The cheesecake I ordered was little better; though, the texture did satisfy the need for decadence quite nicely. Final verdict: Yes, it's worth coming for the view and the swanky vibe. No, I wouldn't spend more on the food and drinks than absolutely necessary.

So my mother and I ate at a lot of eateries while we were in London last year. Only Bloomsbury Cafe…read moreleft us declaring defeat: we just couldn't finish our meals here. Their servings are HUGE, and are so affordable too! I left wishing my mother and I had the ability to save our leftovers for later, because we hated wasting any of the delicious food that we ordered. Even before we got our food we were pretty excited. When you walk in you're greeted here with a beautiful sight: fresh sandwiches, bread, and pastries, all on display right at their main counter. Once we were seated I noticed little flower pots line the window, too. Fresh food and flowers - what more can you ask from a cafe for a first impression? We also loved the owner and his wife: they were very kind and they constantly kept us up to date on our food order, just to mention what was done and what they still needed to do or cook. They clearly work hard to provide fresh fast meals - and we learned quickly as people came in and out of the place that takeaway is available here. But we wanted to enjoy a sit down meal, and enjoy we did! I started mine with fresh squeezed juice - we're talking so fresh you'll want to add sugar to it if you're used to the juice that comes in stores. And when our English breakfasts came out? Just, wonderful. My mother and I each received SO much food. Both meals came with amazing buttered bread (like, I would have happily eaten an entire plate of bread and only bread), hash browns so fresh that they may as well have given us the original potatoes (yum), and what I can really only describe as a mountain of beans, eggs, and meat (well, on mine anyway - not so much on my mother's vegetarian breakfast order). All of it absolutely delicious, and every single bite made me smile wider and wider. Definitely walk on in if you're near this little shop. Don't be afraid to order one meal and share it if there's only two of you, either - you'll likely both leave well fed, and you can always order a little more food if you want too from that great looking counter of theirs...
