This was definitely a smaller Runners Depot store in the Southport Plaza. They had an extremely light selection of sneakers from Hoka, Asics and Brooks. They are well known sneaker companies that dominate the running shoe market and are not cheap. It seems that no deals ever exist for these sneakers and are priced similar on Amazon. The employee was friendly and assisted me trying to locate a size 13 flip flop in a certain color and brand that would fit my foot with no luck. I wanted to start running after hip replacement. I wanted her to watch me run and recommend the best shoes for running. I told the sales person that my feet roll outward and the wear on my shoes is on the outside. She proceeded to tell me she was an expert. First, she told me to throw out my shoes after six months... ok.. but what I am upset about is she told me to get a stability shoe. I told her I used to use Misuno... anyway, I was so trusting as she insisted I get a stability shoe... After running in them and getting achiles pain and going to a doctor, they said , stability shoe is the opposite of what I need. Now, the sales ppl are not doctors, but this women said she was. a nurse and an expert....and I did doubt her...but she insisted I needed a stability shoe and I bought inserts... and my doctor told me not to run in them or my pain will continue... read more

I wore Asics and New Balance in late 20s and early 30s to run 20+ miles each week... then trail sneakers from New Balance in my late 30s to appear like I exercise but I actually got lazy... then I got back active again in my 40s but kept buying the overpriced New Balance there were too heavy and non-breathable. And then change happened.... I got back into exercise (walking 20+ miles per week) and I purchased a pair of Brooks Ghost and I loved them for walking but they were never perfect... a couple years later a pair of Brooks Adrenaline and again not perfect.... Basically, I was not sized correctly and I don't have a great gait (and it gets worse after I walk or tired). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Luckily, I met the owner of Runners Depot at a Health Fair... after talking, I decided to visit their Fort Lauderdale location to see if they can get me into a sneaker that is closer to perfect (or at least sized correctly). At the shop, Joe (Runners Depot associate) had taken sizing to another level (something Nordstrom and the New Balance store had never done).... Joe checked my size and width just like the others but then had my arch measured and then had me walk in my old sneakers to check my gait. Turns out... Brooks Ghost are great but things that I didn't know to consider like support and stability meant that Brooks Ghost are not for me. Joe put me into a variety of sneakers (mostly Hoka and Brooks) and fast forward to the final choices... Joe got me into the "correct" width and added a pair of insoles for better support for my arch. At first I was thinking insoles are just another way to charge me dollars but wow, I tried the sneakers with and without the insoles and turns out they made a huge difference. Can you believe I ended up in a different size AND width than I was wearing... I ended up in a pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS (and love them). read more

I'm here seasonally but this has always been my favorite place to buy my sneakers. Normally when I leave to go back home I pickup 2 pairs to bring back. This morning I went to get those sneakers. Approx 10:45 I walked in. The regular sales person who Is unbelievably gracious and helpful was not there. The man sitting at the counter Didn't even look up and said " we're closed". My husband bought some running shoes here at the end of January and after only 60 miles the heel started peeling off. He went back today and they told him there was nothing they could do. No, he even asked if he could have a discount or a partial credit on another pair of shoes and they said they couldn't do anything. I just bought a pair of Hoka and Brooks. Joe waited on me. Joe was excellent and I told him my needs with a heel spur and he checked my size and arch and brought over 2 pairs of shoes that work with heel spurs. I bought both pairs along with inserts that are recommended . I cannot say enough how much I appreciated the service received. Limited selection and size options. I asked for a very specific shoe and size. When the clerk realized my size wasn't available he tried to sell me a size half up or half down. I run 25-30 miles a week, I'm not trying to experiment with new sizes at this point. I'll shop elsewhere to ensure I can get what I ask for. read more

I'll start off with saying I'm not a runner myself, but I wanted to buy a gift card for a runner. I searched the reviews and asked another runner for recommendations. I was told that the customer service here is great! So I went in to get a gift card and the staff was so helpful! TLDR: if you're looking for running shoes and have no idea where to start....start here. ____ I've been running casually for a few months and was ready to get some good shoes as I'm increasing my distance. I took my shoes off and the employee wanted me walk. She quickly identified One foot is flat and the other isn't. She recommended an Insert to straighten me out and give the flat foot a little support. We tried on 4 different shoes. Each time she'd ask me to compare them and then next round she'd offer another recommendation. There was never any pressure to pick one over the other. Ultimately I went with some Brooks. They have been Fantastic for me! They host run clubs on Thursdays, maybe I'll make it out to a meeting soon. read more

11/12/15 - "Runners are Friends you haven't met yet" I came to this store to meet a runners group at 6:30 p.m. I got there at 6pm so I was able to come in to the store and browse at all the running gear, shoes, gadgets and nutrition counter. I immediately was greeted by Taylor who asked if I had been there before. I had not. She gave me a rewards punch card, and told me that a Saucony rep was there and I would be able to try on their shoes and borrow them on the run to see how they feel. That is so cool. The rep was so nice; he fitted me for the shoes. I was on my way to have great run! As I walked around the store, I noticed all the cool gear, Feetures socks, CEP compression socks, bandannas, sunglasses, nutrition area, shoes, etc....it is a runners dream. The store is not that big that you would get lost and I love the personalized service. Even the dressing rooms have runners quotes and posters. MOTIVATION! Runners kept coming in, it was probably about 30 runners. We all went outside and one of the runners took the lead and did a stretch mini class for us. While stretching I struck up a conversation with Jose, a Hollywood Run Club member, who is running the half marathon this weekend. I thought to myself....these are experienced, professional runners. I asked him how long are they running for tonight, he said 4 miles +. He invited me to run with HRC on Tuesdays. I'm in!!!! After the stretch, the group started taking off. I just followed whoever was in front of me and hoping not to get lost. There are walkers and runners, beginners and advanced. Just find your pace group. We went on the bridge and around. Once we got back, I started talking to another group. I met Abe, Frank, Amy, Graciela and a few more. More pleasantries were exchanged, as well as social media, more invites to run. The store set up and area for PIZZA AND BEER!!!! Bonus!!!! The staff, Mark and Taylor, did a great job putting this together. I met a lot of nice people. Some are running the Islamorada 10k which I will be there and I was so inspired and motivated by this experience that I decided to sign up for the A1A Half Marathon next year, February 14th , Valentine's Day! Best running store around. Knowledgable staff, amazing selection, and all the socks/hydration/sports wear you could need. I have been coming to Runner's Depot at least once a year for the last 4 years. They are my go-to running store when I need new shoes. I even bring my MIL here each summer to get a new pair with me! The staff at each location knows their stuff - from size, to fit, to watching your gait as you jog, they are the best part of this store. All of their shoes are the same price in the store as they would be if you bought them directly from the manufacturer online. They do not price gouge and they are way more helpful than anything online! Just another reason to shop small, support local, and reduce carbon emissions with excess shipping. Hopefully you get to work with the manager Marcus or Joe. Both are great and very knowledgeable. Marcus will definitely make the experience funny with his jokes and sense of humor. The store has pretty much everything you need as a runner. They carry multiple shoe brands and a handful of models from each of those brands. A good variety of clothing options as well as nutritional options. They carry a good amount of Garmin watch models as well. The store is very clean and nicely organized. They will watch you walk to determine the right shoes for you. If you're willing to trust their skills and experiences, you will end up in the right shoes and notice a difference. They also host a run club/group every Thursday night from the store. Some nights they'll have beer and snacks. After ~2 years of Orange Theory in my Mizunos it was time to get some new shoes! I'd previously done my shoe research online and bought the Mizunos myself, but since my mom was in town and was also interested in new running shoes, it made sense to check out Runners Depot and get their expertise. I'm not entirely sure but I do envision the Davie location as being slightly bigger (thus more selection?) but since 17th Street is closer to my house and we were in the area anyways we headed over to check out Runners Depot here. Upon entering we were immediately greeted and got down to trying on shoes. We did some light jogging in the store wearing only socks so the person helping us could get a good look at our feet. They confirmed what I already knew - that I under pronate (or supinate) and I tried on the first pair of suggested shoes. More light jogging, more watching, more adjusting of the size on my foot and after about three different shoe options I found my pair!! My mother went through the same process and settled on a pair for herself. Turns out we both have been buying shoes too small for years! Overall the staff and the experience was great. The shoes were ~$120 each which is about standard (I imagine you could get them a hair cheaper on Amazon, but we were happy to pair slightly more for such tailored service). I'm deducting one star though since the selection could be slightly better - both of us ended up with great shoes, but not necessarily in our dream colors, again, perhaps Davie has more color options, or if you're patient they can obtain other colors for you.... read more

I spent a lot of time at two locations ready to drop $125 on shoes. They did not have what I wanted and offered to special order which is fine. A week later I had not heard from them. I called and they said there was a problem and it would be another week, someone should have called me. They did not. I can order online faster and less expensively, so I did. Don't waste your time. I could've shipped sizes back and forth from Zappos faster. I went here over the weekend seeking out running shoes for the boyfriend. He needed a professional fitting. I can't remember the name of the girl that helped him out, but she was pretty awesome. She checked out his stride, listen to him talk about where he feels pressure/gets blisters, and worked within his price range. I wandered the small, but very well-equipped store, while she worked with him. They've got a great collection of socks, running clothes, and even a small triathlon section! I also noticed that my shoes were on sale. I checked out fuel belts, because despite how dorky I think they are, any runs over 3 miles in the South Florida heat leave me needing water. We left with his shoes (Nike shoes are 15% off through July!). They were very clear on the return policy. They wanted him to be satisfied with the shoes. I headed back to the store the next day to pick up a pair of my current running shoes. They'll sit in my closet until mine start to wear our, but the deal they had going was even better than the Nike factory store at Sawgrass... I am a health care worker that volunteered to come down to Browder and help with Covid test and myself and a few colleagues have taken to running in spare time. Some of us were in need of new shoes and found this place and in total spent well over$1,000. I ran about 2 miles in mine and knew they were not for me and read the receipts which says 14 day satisfaction guarantee refit or money back. So I take them back and he looks at the bottom in amazement that the shoes had a very slight tinge on the bottom of them. I said how are you supposed to know if you are satisfied with running shoes if you don't run in them. Then said he could do store credit. He could care less about a customer after he has their money. This is why big online stores are winning. And I would much rather support my local more expensive stores but this will not be one I will tell anyone to support. read more
