Reviews below are correct. I have been with doctor Yee for three years now and had enough. She has no interest in her patients. Does not explain anything and very dismissive. Any issue I have she does not want to look at and does not care. I'm not comfortable asking her questions anymore because she gives you attitude. I brought up that I have episodes of chest pressure my last visit. Her response was you are too young and she left the room (I'm 36). I am glad I decided to come to Yelp to see if there were other patients of Dr Yee 's who were disappointed in her arrogant behavior.I had waited to see her for months. The day before my appointment, I received a call from her staff asking if I would mind changing my appointment to another day. I explained why I didn't want to change because my daughter had taken off from her job to bring me and she had concerns about my breathing and wanted to speak with Dr. Yee. The next day Dr Yee came in like a firestorm. She sat at a computer, facing it, not me. I was shocked by the way she talked to me as well. She was beyond mean, so I never got a chance to discuss my symptoms. Furthermore she wouldn't speak with my daughter and suggested she make an appointment. My suggestion is do not put your health in her hands. Hospital admin have heard your complaints and mine and their best response is thank you. They are just as culpable as she is. Regardless of one's education, culture, and financial status, as human beings we deserve to be treated with kindness and compassion. Dr. Yee needs to review the Hippocratic oath that all doctors take. She has failed to fulfill her promise. As the Sutter board ignore Dr. Yee's grandiose behavior, they need to consider the message they are sending the San Francisco community. read more

Do not see Dr. Yee--you can do better. Yes, I experienced the same unpleasant abrasive and dismissive personality that several other reviewers mentioned. But more than that, she left me with great concern about her diagnostic skills. During my first visit she leapt to a diagnosis with little/no evidence. Nor did she seek any testing of her hypothesis (differential diagnosis/seeking disconfirming evidence). Likewise she leapt to a treatment plan seemingly without any consideration nor concern for the material impacts it would have on the quality of my life. On my second (and last) visit (for which she was an hour late), after 2 weeks of heart monitor had data came in, I asked her to explain the cause of my symptoms. She merely restated them in bigger words. I'm not sure she even realized that she had added no understanding. read more

I have been Dr Yee's patient for more than 15 years. I had ballon angioplasty three decades ago in Chicago, so I was particular in selecting my cardiologist when I moved to the Bay Area. I chose Dr Yee as my cardiologist based on the recommendation of someone in UCSF Med School. I find Dr. Yee very knowledgable and caring. She offers excellent advices and orders the right tests for me regularly. I trust her totally and recommend her highly. read more

Unfortunately I could not get an appointment with Dr. Stephen Blumlein for 3 months with tachycardia and POTS symptoms. They scheduled an appointment for me with her because she had sooner availability. My first visit there, the PA was very nice but when Dr. Yee came in the room to talk to me, she was rushed and curt. She acted as if she couldn't be bothered at all. My second appointment for my Echocardiogram was fine because an assistant did the exam and she was very nice. My third appointment for a follow up today to talk about the results was with Dr. Yee. The PA this time was not as nice as the last 2 that I met. Again, Dr. Yee was very cold, curt, rushed and she even told me: "Don't read Google unless I tell you to. You are worrying for nothing. Your heart is normal. Look at the findings here in the after summary notes. Normal, normal, normal, normal, normal, normal, normal. Everything is normal so why are you worrying? You are worrying for nothing. The findings in your heart for slight Mitral Valve regurgitation is very common and most of the population has it. You were probably born with it. Even I have it and mine is worse than yours! I can't keep explaining to you about how the valves work and get into all the biology about it. You just need to stop worrying and except these normal results as good and your heart will be fine. You are worrying for nothing." I'm going to ask the front desk staff if I can change to Dr. Blumlein for future visits after I have my last follow up visit to talk about my Zio Patch results. I thought it was just me being overly sensitive but I'm glad I read the other reviews!!! Avoid her like the plague!!!!! *Update to previous review: I was FINALLY able to get an appointment with Dr. Steven Blumlein, the initial doctor I wanted to see who was too booked up to see me in June. He is Dr. Yee's colleague so they work together. I saw him last week and he was amazing!! The first thing he did when he came in the exam room was introduce himself and hand me his business card. He couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating especially with explaining things and answering questions. He was very knowledgeable but without the attitude. He did NOT rush through anything or talk down to me in a condescending way. He put my mind at ease, and made me feel extremely comfortable. Although I don't have to see a cardiologist anymore (my heart is normal yay!) I'd highly recommend seeing him even if you have to wait a few months, it's really worth it and you won't regret it!! read more

My mom has been a patient of Dr. Yee's for several years now. As my mother is hard of hearing and has walking/balance issues, I usually accompany her to her appointments with Dr. Yee. I have always liked Dr. Yee and her demeanor. Her front office assistant, Monica, is an ANGEL (I really mean it). However, Dr. Yee's medical assistants have never been friendly to us. When they call us in the waiting room to enter the examination room, we have never gotten a smile, just a stern stare. The same medical assistants on the same day would call other patients in with a smile and say, "How are you today, Mr. or Ms. So-and-So?" Today, it got worse. The medical assistant called for my mom to enter the exam room but never made eye contact with us - in fact trying with great effort to avoid eye contact. I said "Hi, how are you this morning?" to the medical assistant, and she finally looked up at me but with a stern look. My mom needed an EKG today, so I went back to the waiting room. The medical assistant came to the waiting room and asked if I have my mother's list of medications and I replied that we have it with us in her purse, but that the list has not changed since the last time she saw Dr. Yee 6 months ago. The medical assistant seemed unhappy with my reply and slammed the waiting room door. She later asked Monica to ask me for the list of medications and I asked the medical assistant why she didn't ask me directly for the list herself? That's when the medical assistant said, "OK. That's it. I've had enough", and walked out. Dr. Yee saw this exchange but during the examination, she defended the medical assistant and basically said that I had to bear with the bad attitude for the (health) sake of my mother. That's it, never again at this practice. Now that I've read the other reviews of Dr. Yee's distasteful personality, I now agree with the other reviewers' bad opinion of Dr. Yee, and concomitantly, her medical assistants (excepting Monica, of course). Remember that in any organization, it's top-down - i.e., Dr. Yee sets the (unfriendly) tone and demeanor of her office and enables such behavior. read more

Others have commented on Dr. Yee's bedside manner and yes I also found Dr. Yee's manner to be abrupt and dismissive, but that is not what bothered me. What bothered me was her seeming inability to explain tests or test results. She also didn't seem to be able to have a discussion about options, or offer recommendations. So I asked a few basic questions (probably quite clumsily since I don't know much about the heart), but unfortunately for me Dr. Yee was not able to answer them. Her answers consisted of one or two words, and mostly took notes. It turns out these were her visit summary notes, which also contained very little information. I visited this office for the first time a couple months ago. Don't go here! While the receptionists are super nice, Ruspa is a cold, careless person. She was recommended to me by my (very awesome) gynecologist when I said I was having chest pains. Because I was looking for a renewed birth control prescription but had recent chest pain and an abnormal EKG, she thought better safe than sorry. Rupsa was flippant. We did another EKG and she said 'yeah, it's a little abnormal but I don't know why they sent you here. It could just be that way normally.' Chest pains? Migranes? Back pain? I kept running down my symptoms and she just looked at me like I was crazy. 'You know, it could really be anything.' Can't believe I paid a $60 copay for her tell me that my symptoms could be from anything. Thanks. She let me plan a stress test but I canceled it later because I really don't trust her opinion or methods. Would not recommend her because it doesn't seem like she cares about your health. I went to another cardiologist who actually took the time to review my symptoms and find the issue that was causing my pain. read more

Wow... I can't tell you how pleasant my experience was with Dr. Rupsa Yee and her staff! If I could give them an extra star, I would. After having a bad experience with a general practitioner (who referred me to Dr. Rupsa Yee), I was prepared to meet another callous doctor -- yet I was very pleasantly surprised. Not only did the RN greet me with a smile and make me feel comfortable right away, but Dr. Rupsa Yee also seemed genuinely happy to answer any questions I had, all while willingly offering suggestions for natural remedies, before simply prescribing me medication - as most doctors are so quick to do! Not once did I feel rushed or like she had other patients to attend to. She also made scheduling a follow-up extremely easy by asking the receptionist to find either the earliest appointment or the latest appointment so that I didn't have to take time off of work. The only disappointing part -- I wish she could be my general practitioner! If I could choose one Dr to see forever, it would be Dr. Rupsa Yee! read more

I'll admit I was a little nervous about this appointment for my husband. Not because of the nature (cardiology) but because Dr. Yee looked like a hard ass when she arrived to the office the morning of our appointment. I had all these fears that she was going to rush us, not answer hubs questions, and ask us why we were even there in the first place. Thank GOD that was not what happened. She took her time with us, answering all of our questions, some silly (hubs is a health nut), but all with serious and practical answers. She is to the point (as David G. mentioned) but in a caring and understanding way. I could tell she was really looking out for hubs and suggested the best way to accomplish being healthy. I cannot emphasize enough how we really felt valued. She encouraged him to follow up with a phone call with any new symptoms or information (from other Drs.) I can't rave more about this Dr; I only wish we could take her (and our other Drs) with us when we move! read more

Dr. Yee's office staff was fantastic. They fit me in quickly, helped me get set up with a heart monitor quickly, and were incredibly compassionate. Dr. Yee on the other hand diagnosed me before walking in the door and didn't listen to what I said about how my symptoms had changed. I had my records transferred over (my previous cardiologist now focuses on transplants). She walked into the room with records in hand and a resident at her side. She explained to the resident what my medical records showed and what I already knew. I told her my new/scary symptoms, which was the reason I was there -- to see if my condition had changed/worsened. She had the resident listen to my heart and flipped through my records. Then she briefly looked at the EKG and sent me off for a heart monitor and an ultrasound. I never heard another word from her. Did my condition change/worsen? I don't know, but I know I'm not going back to her. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Yee for 6 years now, and I absolutely love her. I can't for the life of me understand the negative reviews on here that suggest she lacks compassion. Perhaps unsatisfied patients came in to the office expecting a specific answer to what ailed them, which she did not give. Perhaps they wanted a prescription that she didn't think was necessary. They may have mistaken her matter-of-fact attitude for a lack of willingness to listen, when in reality it reflects her thorough knowledge of cardiovascular disease, a matter of science not up for debate. One reviewer was upset that Dr. Yee, a cardiologist, told her her migraines and back pain could be from anything. She was asking a cardiologist for back pain and headache advice, and took exception to Dr. Yee not having one definitive answer... I don't fault my butcher for not knowing what belt would best match my shoes. I digress, but the point I wanted to make is that Dr. Yee is an exceptional clinician who truly wants the best for her patients. She has not only helped me control my hypertension, but also has gone above and beyond to ensure that there is no potentially serious underlying cause. She always follows best practice guidelines, and it is clear that she deeply understands her field. As a current medical student, I aspire to one day be as capable and kind a practitioner as Dr. Rupsa Yee. If you are looking for a cardiologist, I highly recommend her. read more

Very patient, knowledgable, and understanding. I've never had a problem with Dr. Yee or her staff. I commend her on how she wants the patient to participate/be responsible for his/her own health care. Believe me she is there to save lives. When she told my partner, who stopped taking his insulin, that he had only 6 months to live, if he continued down that same path,. With that wake-up call, I went into action to get him every procedure necessary to save his life. Bless you Dr. Yee. read more

I also don't understand the low personal scores. I think she is direct, to the point and exceptionally qualified. My internist originally sent me to Dr. Yee because she said she was the very best at reading test results. And my doctor further added that is she was experiencing any heart issues, Dr. Yee is who she would see. I recommend her. read more

The only good thing about being admitted to CPMC is that one can try out certain doctors that have private practices. So that way one doesn't need to waste time, sign up with someone like Dr. Yee then be highly disappointed later. From my initial encounter with her I would never consider signing up with her. As others have found she's not great in compassion and understanding from the patient's point of view. All she seems to 'get' are numbers like what the patient's chart shows. And I do not like having to argue with a doctor (who is also patronizing/sarcastic, btw) just to get empathy and a basic understanding of what my loved one needs and feels. Worse she also told me how my mother's insurance wouldn't pay for more than a 7 day stay which was totally a lie. My mother has Medicare plus a Medigap health plan & I even checked with them & they would cover for even up to 90 days. To have a doctor lie like that is beyond shocking & felt like she just wanted her out of the room to make way for other patients. Honestly it felt as though like when one is being rushed out of a restaurant when the owner wants the table occupied by another paying guest. Even told me that a hospital is not where a person goes to get better. Fortunately I was given a recommendation for a different cardiologist from another CPMC professional. read more

I don't know why it seems so difficult to find a cardiologist with a heart. She ranks a zero in compassion or the willingness to listen. Basically she said, "It's my way or the hi-way" not allowing me to express my concerns. With a little decent bedside manner, she might have been able to convince me of her way but she was unwilling to hear my fears. I am not difficult and have had extensive experience with cardiologists and electro-physiologists. Unfortunately my past terrific heart doctors have retired or left the area. I did not realize that I had not yet submitted a review on Dr. Yee. A couple of years ago, my previous cardiologist had moved to the East Bay and I was referred to Dr. Yee. I switched to Dr. Yee after my cardiologist left town and the one who took over from her practice wasn't a good fit. His knowledge of the field seemed a bit out of date. And when he performed a transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) on me, he didn't do a good job. My specialist said he likes to rely on Dr. Yee. So I had her perform the next TEE. She was excellent. I was so impressed I asked her to become my new cardiologist. She is no nonsense. But she takes time with her patients, and seems very capable and knowledgeable. I also have come to conclude that she cares quite a bit for her patients. During the TEE she really advocated for my comfort with a difficult anesthesiologist. Her manner may seem a bit brusque. But I think she is terrific--informed, capable, and ultimately concerned about the well-being of her patients. read more

I am also surprised at the negative reviews, that's why I decided to share my experience, which was all positive, despite the fact that I had to see a cardiologist. As a baby I had a VSD repaired and was told when I was going to have a baby that I would need to be followed by a cardiologist. (My peds cardiologist discharged me from his care at 21 & said I was fine until I was to be pregnant). So I went to see Dr. Yee because I was referred to her by one of my coworkers (I'm a nurse). I remember them warning me that her bedside manner was a little abrupt but said she was a great doctor. When I got there I didn't think she was abrupt at all--I thought she was knowledgeable and kind. She did a full cardio exam and had me get a recent echo. She knew I was nervous and anxious about the results so she had me come into the office for the results. There luckily was nothing wrong, but I felt like it was very kind of her to realize my fears and not just tell me things were ok over the phone. This follow through of care and reassurance was very impressive and I would still go to her if I still lived in the bay!! read more
