I have 7 year old twin boys with sensory processing disorder and texture aversion, which lead to extremely picky eating. Actually, when we started with Miss Michelle and Miss Marie 1 1/2 years ago, one of my boys only had 3 foods that he ate and the other maybe 15. We tried many things to get them to eat different foods, but nothing worked. When they started gagging just from the smell of cooking and from the sight of applesauce, I realized it was a much bigger problem that was going to require professional help. It turns out, along with the SPD and texture aversion, they both have reflux which was diagnosed by Miss Marie and Miss Michelle, then substantiated by an ENT referral and scope. Once they were on Prevacid for about a month, things started to change. With the food chaining techniques, homework, and games, they now have a completely different diet. Last night we had baked chicken, spinach salad, and rice for dinner - and that is what they ate. We can go out to restaurants without bringing their food with us. It has been a truly life changing experience. We have been so happy with KatieBug and would recommend them to anyone needing a SLP, especially kids with feeding issues and picky eating. My boys never cried or were upset with the therapy - they actually looked forward to it and seeing Miss Michelle. We have only one session left and are being discharged and will miss them greatly.

The office was kind enough to fit me in the same day, but I wasn't aware it would be with a different therapist and left feeling like I didn't learn much that time. After I shared my experience, the staff followed up right away and offered me a complimentary session with the therapist I originally wanted to see. I really appreciate how they handled the situation and made things right. Great customer service and I will definitely go back for any future injurys I need help with.

Pros Our caregiver was a great emotional match for my mom…read more Our caregiver was trustworthy Cons Because I live in close proximity to my mother, I was able to see the concerns noted here, first hand. The caregiver provided to us told us she did not cook- I cooked dinners for almost one year and packaged them weekly for both my mother and the caregiver. Our caregiver did cook scrambled eggs. She did utilize a microwave to reheat the dinners I cooked and packed for her for the almost year she was with us. The caregiver provided to us vacuumed twice in the year she was with us-once because we requested it bc of an upcoming carpet cleaning and once in response to our having contacted and brought Tanya in for a conversation. Our caregiver did not do light cleaning. *Photo#1 is an infection caused by not wiping skin completely. We had no idea she had such an infection until hospice showed us on the first day of their services. (We brought hospice in-not from European care. Outside hospice provided a healthcare worker 2x per week, a nurse, a doctor to direct end of life care, equipment including a hospital bed and oxygen, access to team members, pastoral support and very necessary supplies such as briefs, creams, wipes and meds. *Photo #2 is called shearing. We also didn't know this was happening until my mom's first day of hospice services (that we brought in) and they brought it to our attention. Shearing is caused from yanking a brief out from under the patient. The issues of cooking and cleaning were brought to Tanya's attention in October. My mom was in hospice and no longer eating much so cooking became irrelevant. Our caregiver never did do light house keeping. With the help of hospice, and my taking over personal care for two weeks (except middle of the night refreshes) , her infections cleared up. There is discrepancy about what my brothers would rate vs what my sister and I would rate, as the girls picked up all the slack for cooking, cleaning and infection clearing. Tanya did tell us we should have contacted her sooner, with cooking and cleaning issues, we did not want to make waves because one brother uses the services for his father in law and our caregiver was a great emotional match for my mom. When I did contact Tanya and I met with both her and our caregiver, Tanya did not follow up. When contacted a second time for a new situation, Tanya's immediate response was to try to reach my brother by contacting my sister in law via email-who is not a POA-to voice her own concerns.

I found Chris Kelly when he and Mary first opened Fox Valley P.T. and Wellness when my husband required specialized Physical Therapy after spinal surgery and months at Marionjoy and the treatment from Chris was exceptional! For myself, I have received P.T. from Chris following 2 knee replacements.. both knees are still strong after ten years. in the interim I have returned for P.T. for shoulder , back and balance issues which have been resolved each time under Chris' personalized therapy and home exercise plan. All the personal are friendly,the facilities are immaculate and parking is convenient. Chris is knowledgeable,respectful and patient. Chris and Mary have created an exceptional environment.

Amy Stumpf is beyond excellent and helped me so much! She went out of her way to get me in for an appt as soon as I was released from the hospital so that I could begin to receive help regarding breast feeding. They have created an incredible environment both physically and culturally. My daughter loves coming to speech therapy - an unbelievable feat! Between the gyms full of fun equipment to bounce, swing, climb, and jump on and the toys/games room filled to the brim with so many types of activities, BDI really lives up the "playhouse" in their name. All the therapists incorporate play into their sessions, either switching between exercises and fun, or combining the two! Everyone I've encountered seems to genuinely enjoy their job. When you walk into BDI, there is an upbeat positive feeling throughout- therapists greeting their next appointments as well as saying hello to the other kids they see. The other patients are happy to see their buddies (therapists) too! You can tell that everyone cares deeply about their patients. A wonderful benefit of their multidisciplinary office is the collaboration between therapists and disciplines. If your child needs multiple services, the therapists are in one location and can easily work together, determining the appropriate order and timing for the different services. It is much less coordination for the parent, both from a scheduling perspective and a patient approach. The patient gets better care with less friction. And, if the stars and schedules align, sometimes you can get back to back appointments to minimize visits to the office too! My daughter has worked primarily with Amy for speech therapy, with some physical therapy from Lisa. Amy has a kind welcoming demeanor that was absolutely perfect for my daughter, who takes time to warm up to new people. Amy moves at Viv's pace while still getting through the therapy exercises. She is able to gently reign Viv in when she is being less than cooperative. Amy is realistic about what is and is not feasible for daily homework and keeps it to the most impactful exercises. We love Miss Amy! Lisa is also wonderful, regularly checking in with Viv to see how things feel and making sure nothing hurts. She doesn't dismiss Viv's feelings and reactions, but uses them to guide treatment. There is a level of respect and consideration for the kids that they don't always receive from grownups. I have also gotten to be a patient at BDI for physical therapy, specifically for Craniosacral therapy (CST). I've had long standing challenges around breathing/posture/stress and have spent many years working through these with exercise, speech, physical therapy, and more. Lisa, Andrea, and Cassie at BDI have been an incredibly important part of improving these issues. I have been a tightly wound person my whole life, never good at relaxing. Other than coming out of anesthesia after surgery, I've never truly felt relaxed in my body until a few sessions into CST. I hadn't consciously taken a real, full, deep breath using the correct primary breathing muscles until my CST sessions at BDI. Now that I know what a relaxed state and a full deep breath feel like, I can get much closer to replicating them on my own through home practice. I feel calmer. My posture has improved- my shoulders are less rounded and my rib cage moves a lot more. I'm able to use these improvements in my Pilates practice to make more lasting improvements. The actual sessions are wonderfully relaxing. I highly recommend BDI Playhouse - an exceptional environment providing supportive services to kids and grownups. I'm so glad we found BDI Playhouse!

I went in after I rocked my left shoulder...ouch and after a few months it wasn't getting any better. Right from the beginning they were kind friendly and courteous. The woman I spoke on the phone to make my appointments name was Fran acted like a real person-her personality was so kind and patient. I have made appointments at other offices and it seems like I am putting them out to make an appointment....not here, Fran was fantastic! I walk I to the office it is neat and clean and the office is neat and uncluttered. The rooms are once again neat and uncluttered with modern technologies and equipment. I am greeted by a nice gentleman that I later found out was the PT who is going to help me and make my shoulder all better. Kalen was really nice and explained things to me and after I told him I was terrified of the medical field -needles etc...he was happy to answer any of the questions I had about implements in the office to calm my fears. Kalen was able to make me feel comfortable and relaxed (even with the fear inside me) and the hour went by rather quickly and they were willing to work with my schedule for follow up appointments. I am glad that I have found a great place for PT with good people in a nice facility....if you need a little Physical Therapy TLC I would highly recommend this facility.
