Horrible experience with rushmypassport.com. I paid for the service and had no communication leading up to my trip, other than occasional robo-emails, so I called 1 week before my trip and was told not to worry that I would get my passport in time. They finally admitted two days before my trip that my passport would not be done in time. My agent was very robotic to my pleas to fix this and never admitted that they screwed up or were at fault in any way....blamed it on the government in DC. Fortunately I live near LA and I could drive to the Passport agency (1 of 4 in the country) on Friday and spent the whole day there, finally getting the passport on my own. I thought that this service was going to be amazing in terms of getting a passport renewal expedited. In all fairness, I just recently submitted all the necessary materials to have my renewal expedited. Of course, I then received a phone call this morning that "starter checks" are not accepted. Yes, the checklist happened to state this in the fine print. I had to then pay them the $200 over the phone plus a $10 fee for them to write the check on my behalf. If the use of a "starter check" is such a major point in all of this, then maybe you should make it a point to REINFORCE this detail instead of including it in the fine print. I made sure that they would be returning my original check. I have been the victim of identity theft in the past and the last thing I need is to have my account number and routing number floating around out there. I will be keeping even closer tabs on my account information. If I see charges for the $200 check and the $210 that I just paid over the phone, there will be legal action. I would have rated 5/5 however the costs were more than the online quote and phone calls to get through to talk with someone were lengthy. Specific instructions get a little hairy so reading carefully and paying attention to detail is important. Then today I received a call from a very nice man who was polite, warm & forthcoming. I first thought this was a BS call trying to convince me that this is all somehow a big misunderstanding on my part. I was very frustrated by what seemed like a total lack of responsibility & accountability but he did promise to look into the (recorded?) interaction with the employee & 2 hours later, I had received a full refund- no cancellation fees kept. This is what I would say about this business: 1) they need to redo their website to clearly outline exactly what services they are offering AND 2) they really need to restructure that site so that there is a "review & confirm" option before they take all the $$. Paid an initial fee to start my passport renewal. Halfway through the process, I determined I didn't need to renew. I didn't finish the application and requested a refund, since I didn't use any of their services. They promised a review of my refund request and a reply. I never received any feedback to my refund request, even after multiple emails requesting a response. My phone calls were sent to an answering machine, promising a callback. Plain and simple, this is a great service for those in need of a passport quickly. I did not need my passport in a hurry for any particular reason, I just wanted to get my passport fast (yeah yeah, not a valid reason but did you pay for it?). You pay a lot more than you would if you get your passport the standard way, at LEAST twice as much, but you get what you pay for. The process was smooth, simple, and efficient. Customer service was excellent, they make sure you have EVERYTHING you need before sending off your documents to avoid the risk of delay. If I knew how much I would be paying up front I probably wouldn't have gotten the service because I don't need to fly internationally anytime soon, but it's definitely worth the money for how quickly you get it and the level of service that the representatives provide. Devastating experience. After carefully following instructions every step of the way, this morning, 8 days before my trip, I received a cryptic email from RMP saying I needed to pay an additional $100 dollars to get my passport further expedited. After spending over an hour on hold, three different agents inform me that, because my documents had arrived one day late (due to Fedex weather delay) they absolutely could not process my passport in time because there were no longer any spaces available. Management: "It's not your fault. It's not our fault, but we just can't get it done for you." No. matter. what. They absolutely cannot find a way to deliver what they make millions claiming is their specialty. Why is it they advertise 24hr passport service but are unable to deliver within 8 days when they already have the completed documents in house?! Apparently they book every single slot at the agency and allow no margin for error. Since it was their shipping label, they could easily have tracked my package and seeing that it was delayed reserved a spot for me, but perhaps profit is more important than actually getting customers their passports. (Note to RMP: your customers do not know all the intricate details of your system, we just sort of trust you to care about our application. That is why we pay you). Now I have to drive an minimum of 10 hours through a severe snow storm (if the roads do not close) to my nearest Colorado passport agency and walk it though myself. ******** Update: Desperate, I called the company as if I were a new customer, and asked if it was possible to get a passport in 8 days. After checking a couple of things the rep said it was possible. I said "then why can't you complete mine when you already have my docs?" I have had a really negative experience with Rush My Passport. I have to travel a lot internationally for work and realized my passport was due to expire before my next trip - 2 months out. I thought I would have to "rush" my passport due to the quick turn around and I did not want to deal with the US dept of state and would rather go through a 3rd party company assuming they deal with it all the time and it should be seamless and effortless. Not the case for me. It cost awful lot of money for the 10-12 day service which is what I got but going through the state department is much cheaper and when renewing you can choose an option for 2 week delivery. Overall it is a misleading company and I will not recommend to any of my colleagues who also travel abroad for work often. read more

Great great great! RushMyPassport saved my ass from missing out on my Hawaii trip. No you don't need a passport to travel there but I had no other form of ID and I was even able to get a new passport without an ID using the DS-71 form suggested by a RushMyPasssport customer service rep. I opted for the 2 business day service, in the end it costs around $600 but it was necessary for me. I just received my passport via FEDEX 10 minutes ago and I couldn't be happier with the service. Mailed out all the documents requested on Wednesday and just got my new passport Monday (weekday delivery only) my passport was actually mailed out LESS than TWO days after I sent the documents. I've used Rush My Passport twice. The first time was excellent; the second time was a nightmare. I paid for 24-hour expedited service only for it to take FOUR days to get my passport back! The customer service reps seemed to have no clue what was going on and could only provide me with vague, clearly canned answers to my questions. At one point, one of the reps asked me if I knew whether my passport had been processed by the Department of State! How would I know that? That's what I was paying Rush My Passport for. I also thought I was paying for someone to hand-deliver my passport to the agency and wait while it was processed. This service takes advantage of people who are rushed and don't understand how the passport agencies work. When you call the national passport line to schedule an appointment (1-877-487-2778), they'll tell you it's only possible to get your passport processed at a regional facility if you have an appointment. That is simply not the case. Most of the regional passport agencies accept walk in appointments. Furthermore, look at the yelp reviews, they all get 3.5+ stars in customer service. Rave reviews. Fast processing. In and out in 15 minutes, same day or next day service. How it works is that everyone gets a ticket based on three items (a guard explained). "A" tickets are people who have appointments. "C" tickets are people who are walk ins. "D" tickets are people who need to see a manager or supervisor. But they will typically see you same day and within a few hours max, with delivery next day or processing on the spot. So if you live in a major metropolitan area near or near a regional passport facility (http://travel.state.gov/passport/npic/agencies/agencies_913.html) why would you ever pay $300 to rushmypassport? Furthermore, Rushmypassport.com can actually be more variable as they're subject to shipping complications through Fedex carriers and the post offices processing your documents in a "sealed envelope." My day wasted at the post office and all my money spent would have been better served walking in straight to my local passport agency, and then buying a flight ticket for another trip. This service is a decent insurance in case you are in a bind. But go to a regional passport office FIRST, WALK-IN even IF you can't get an appointment through the automated appointment service. A disappointing first experience, I was led to believe I could get a passport processed in two days, however after a lot of running around and paying for expedited service I was later told my passport couldn't be processed in two days. I requested a refund and received it within a couple of days. I believe this company genuinely cares about customer service but is only able to process as many passports as they have appointments at the passport office. I procrastinate. A lot. Picture this: In January I booked a flight to Frankfurt for July 2nd. June 21st I realized that I STILL hadn't renewed my passport for my trip in just over a week. The passport office's earliest appointment was July 2nd. Well, that just wouldn't do. In a fit of panic, I found this place online and researched it. ONE review on Yelp. It's a 5-star review. But desperate times call for desperate measures, so I took the dive and contacted them. Talk about organized! Typically the service works such that people will mail in their expired passports and/or required documents and then rushmypassport.com will mail them back. Because I'm in DC (and, coincidentally, 2 blocks away from the office) they allowed me to drop my things off and pick them up. From the moment I started the process on Thursday, I had a case manager assisting me through every step. They gave me a checklist and emailed me the documents that I had to fill out. Friday morning I dropped my expired passport along with required documents off at their office. Wednesday afternoon, I picked it up. It was that easy. The sad part is that I didn't realize that I did not need an appointment at the DC passport office - which would have saved me mucho dinero. But that's all in the past, and all that matters was that I got to go on my trip to Europe! Would I recommend this place? Absolutely! As long as you don't live/work in the DC area. Just an update to my previous post...my issue was eventually resolved by one of the center managers which was much appreciated because I don't think I've ever been so displeased with a service as I was with this site. My concern however, was that it took me escalating the issue for it to actually be resolved. I don't doubt that this site will expedite the passport process and had I decided to use their service, I'm sure I would have received my passport within the expected timeframe, but I think the cancellation policy needs some looking into. Either way, thank you to the team members that reached out to fix this issue, but these sorts of situations should be handled correctly in the beginning. read more
