I live in Charleston now and have missed Rush's! My boyfriend, our 18 month old son and I stopped into the West Columbia location on our way to Asheville and had the best experience! Our cheeseburgers were delicious, as usual, but the service is what made our experience so special. Our Son, cranky from being on the road was all smiles for Ellis, who took our order. Thanks Ellis! Then James brought our little boy his first Rush's ice cream. Happy Day! I'm in the hospitality industry and have never seen a manager do table visits in a fast food restaurant. James spoke to every customer, pre bussed tables and made friendly conversation throughout our visit. Thank you James and Ellis for making our visit special and our road trip happier! The Chicken club sandwich was tasty. The chicken fillet on the sandwich was huge and perfectly breaded. The applewood bacon and cheese just made it that much better. Our order was prepared quickly, even with special requests. The fries were great as was the slaw. My dear husband got a double cheeseburger and said it was excellent. The sandwiches are huge. This is our favorite rush's but tonight there was something different about it. One younger girl was being mean to the older lady working the register. "You need to call it out when they order. This place is a Columbia institution. Yes, it's just fast-food, but its so much more than that. It's summer afternoons when Grandma is too tired to cook. It's milkshakes after Friday night football games. It's a place to take your toddler when you're in town and want to share your childhood with him, and I hope he takes his toddler here one day too when I'm old and grey. All these 5 star reviews and last night I must have gotten the B team. Ordered a peach milkshake and watched them make it by dipping a cup into a bucket of milk that was setting on the counter with no lid. The milkshake tasted like peach but never got any peach throughout the whole milkshake... I understand that it was 11pm and they close at 12 but the whole restaurant appeared to be preparing to close at any minute. All preparations stations were closed up and clean with the condiments sitting on the counter to make last-minute orders. Not sure what happened to Rush's as it is definitely not being ran like it was when George Rush was in charge.... I will not be going back! read more

My mom stop by Rush's 378 this evening and bought to royal sundays. They both were watered down look like milk with hot fudge, strawberries and pineapples in it. It was disastrous. They should be ashame to sell someone something like this. This Rush's has gone down bad rude customer service and the food is no longer good anymore. read more

I always give a resturaunt 3 tries before giving my review. I live close by, so when I'm feeling like I need to take out a new mortgage on my house to get a quick cheeseburger, I'll stop by here. I don't get the 5 star ratings at all. I believe they're giving people free food in exchange for good ratings. This place has been downright subpar gas station food the 3 times I've ordered here. Not only is it $10 for a mediocre cold cheeseburger, fries and a drink. It doesn't even taste good. I've had better cheeseburgers from the frozen section of Walmart. The fries are unsalted. I always ask if its going to be cheaper if I don't get the nasty ass coleslaw and they say no. Which it should be considering you're getting less items. Stop including that nasty garbage no one wants it. Should be an add-on item, if the customer chooses to eat a small container of white diarrhea mixed with throw up. Do yourself a favor and spend $1 extra and feed yourself and your kid at McDonalds across the street. At least when McDonalds food is cold, it tastes pretty good. read more

It's ok, for fast food. I had a hot dog basket, which came with fries & slaw. The service was fast (hence the name, Rush's). And the cashiers were getting orders placed quickly & were actually pleasant. Everyone working greeted people & lots of smiles. I guess it's a fun place to work. I'm a sucker for locally owned & operated businesses so Rush's gets extra credit for that. read more

Ok, I'm biased, I grew up on Rush's while living in Columbia. Mustard-based BBQ sandwich, fries in a cup and a chocolate shake from Rush's is fast-food heaven on Earth. Want more - upgrade to a basket which will give you some slaw. They have burgers and stuff too, but who wants that when you can have BBQ? This place has been around forever and has great hours 10am - midnight. read more

Rushes Rocks ..I always stop at this location on my way to Charleston..even though it might. Be only twice a year .

When my folks bought their house the foundation for this location of Rush's was being built. I grew up riding a skateboard/bike here to get a kiddie burger, a hotdog, or milkshake. When I grew up and went to College I'd stop by on the way to mom and dad's house. I never cared about McDonalds/Burger King/KFC because I had Rush's. There is no Chili Burger like it. Love the Slaw Dog/Chili Dog. Their fried chicken is good fresh or cold on the boat. The BBQ is ligit. Strawberry Milkshake! Oh and now they have double kiddie burgers. Fries are great too, and they have white vinegar to put on your fries (even to go). B E S T S W E E T T E A in Columbia. I'll always "Rush in to Rush's." read more

Rush's is usually my go to place if I am craving a good burger. Especially when compared to other fast food places where their food keeps getting smaller and the prices get more expensive.Their food is always good and done right. Yuck! I was looking for a restaurant close to my hotel and looked on yelp for assistance. Based on the reviews I thought I would give this local "gem" a shot. I ordered a cheeseburger basket. The burger was more like a steamed burger with the taste of almost bad meat, the fry's were undercooked and the coleslaw had a weird taste to it that I couldn't figure out what it was and I think they put pickles in it (not sure if that is a southern thing, but I have never heard of pickles in coleslaw before....). I ate about 1/2 of my dinner and threw out the rest. Sorry Columbia, but this place was not a gem in my book! read more

I was at the Broad River Road location this evening at 8pm when two male employees were behind the counter. One male employee began hitting the other employee in the face repeatedly . I called the police to report the assault and notified the manager I had done so. She told me she was handling the situation and that I should not have done that. She would not give me her name and said she would not be talking to the police. The police did come, she did speak to them after she saw them talking with me. She came over and interrupted to let them know she had "handed" it. I hope this establishment realizes the severity of this situation and apathy/disrespect the manager showed a customer trying to do the right thing by reporting an assault. read more

I came in here on a quick stay in Columbia because it was the only place near the hotel with any hint of BBQ. I got their BBQ sandwich and a small sweet tea. The sandwich was not bad for a fast food place. I've definitely had better and I'm not used to mustard based BBQ, since I generally get BBQ in Atlanta or make my own. Overall, the place was clean and the people were nice. I would definitely come in here again, unless a real pit BBQ place opens near the hotel where I was staying. read more

I always like the setup of this restaurant. They have amazing fried chicken and burgers. You have to get the banana split, it is so good.

Friday night West Columbia highway 378 after BC Football games in the fall this is a great place to be. I still think the price is a little much which is why no five star, and for those who don't get it the BBQ sandwich is better known as a Big Joe from Piggy Park BBQ which is where that sandwich is made. This place looks like a typical fast food joint but it's not! We ate dinner here on our way back up north via 26. Easy on and off the expressway. Perfect quick meal of cheeseburgers (I had the chili cheeseburger which was fantastic), barbecue (a mustard type barbecue) and hotdogs. The soft serve and shakes looked good but we still had a lot of driving to do and couldn't risk getting too full and sleepy. read more

When I moved to Lexington I was not sure what I would think of the home town fast food place. After all I hate the poor excuse for BBQue that folks in these parts eat. I especially detest the car food on rice stuff. However Rushes is a different story. I absolutely love their fried chicken, rolls, potato salad and Cole slaw. The tea is outstanding. The burger with lettuce tomato and mayo is the best around. The Rushes near Target in Sunset has the best people working there. I am always in a better mood when I leave. A true low cost fast alternative to the big chains and much much better. read more
