Well, I knew better so I went ahead and made an appointment anyway to come in later the same day. I got there and stood idly for about 10 minutes as employees milled around me promising someone would help me soon. A woman filled out my paperwork and told me John would be looking at it. I went into the waiting room and was called out by John in about 15 minutes. John went into a long explanation about how the recall was for the passenger side only, and my drivers side seatbelt mechanism was broken (strange, I've never had an issue with it before) and that's why my airbag alert kept coming on on my dashboard (strange again, I've never seen it come on). I told him that I'd never had any issues with drivers side or any alerts, but my complaint was that the passenger side air bag OFF sign was constantly lit up whether or not there was a passenger. He told me to sit back down in the waiting room. About 5 minutes later he calls me out to my car to look at it, IT'S NOT EVEN MY CAR! Finally he admits that the sensor is indeed blown and they'll have to send in the passenger side cushions. He says he hopes I won't be driving with passengers for a while. I asked him to clarify... he was ready to send me out driving this car with no passenger seat and no right side airbags! I insisted on a rental car (as the recall notice stated came free with the fix) and he obliged. Once in the rental I noticed that the gas is only at 1/4 tank, the washer fluid is empty (seems like a luxury, but with slushy weather it truly is a safety hazard), and filthy interior. This is a 2015 rental with just over 1,000 miles on it... how is it so gross already?!? I called back to clarify that there was little gas in it and insisted it is noted so that I am not charged the hefty $6.00 a gallon when I return it at 1/4 tank. They were snooty with me then too. He even said my keys were "in use" when I asked for them to get my house key and office fob... so I guess what I'm saying is... anybody got a couch I can crash on for a couple days? Not returning.

Very slow service and poor communication…read more Ex 1- said the parts for our repair came in and I scheduled an appointment. When I arrived, they said only 1 part was in and they thought it was "weird" I was on the schedule. Didn't even give me a call to discuss before I drove all the way there and made arrangements to miss work. Ex 2 - when they finally do have the parts to make the repair, they said it would be done by noon the next day (a Friday before a holiday weekend). No updates at all. Finally call at 1pm and they say they haven't even started! My husband and I had to delay our holiday weekend trip to leave the next day. Would've liked an update earlier in the day.

Date of visit: October 6, 2023…read more My dealings with two of the other Volkswagen dealerships in my area have been very frustrating, from both a sales and service perspective. And while I really like my car, if the purchase and maintenance interactions are awful, I am not likely to purchase another VW. However my visit to Ewald Volkswagen in Menomonee Falls restored my faith in dealerships! Jorge was amazingly efficient and gracious, walking me through the process and providing me with options when it was time to make decisions regarding the potential work to be done. The work was done in record time and for slightly less than I had anticipated. And when it was time to leave, he was even my cashier. The waiting area has a mixture of comfy chairs and--my personal favorite--high-top chairs and tables with fast and accessible WiFi so I was able to get work done while I waited. Snacks and beverages were provided as well, to give me the fuel to get through the day. Really my only complaint was the relative unhappiness of the receptionist. Though if I had to say "Thank you for calling the All New Ewald Volkswagen Buick GMC" 100 times a day, I think I'd be a little crabby, too! Give the lady a break and shorten that greeting.

Part of the expense was a new car battery which I will give the benefit of the doubt to the dealership and blame it on the polar vortex, but the auto shop found a rats nest in the filter and had to give the engine a tune up. If I had known we'd be putting another $1500 into the car, I definitely would have negotiated the price more.* We had a great experience buying our car here. It doesn't have bells and whistles and fsalesmen in suits, but it does have knowledgeable straightforward owners who treat you like equals and don't make you feel like you're being outsmarted or manipulated. They have free car faxes on file for all of their vehicles. It was a quick and easy process and we walked away with a car we feel good about. Will update after we've had it for awhile!

During the wait I got an estimate from them over the phone; since I've been getting vehicles serviced at their shop for almost 30 years and had never had a problem I trusted the quoted cost. I brought my car back the next week, had the repair done, and paid. Afterward I looked at the invoice and found that the estimate had included a "tune up" and "fuel injection treatment" that I hadn't asked for, and which contributed over $400 to the final bill. Always read the invoice before signing anything. Even if you think you trust the shop, ESPECIALLY if you think you trust them, ALWAYS read the invoice.

I usually try to buy cars from private sellers as I find all the games dealers play to be somewhat tiresome and annoying, e.g., service fees, documentation fees, nitrogen in the tires fees, rust proofing fees, etching the vin number in the windshield fees, "estimated" title and license fees that are $75 high, etc.... but I thought that since the service department guys are straight shooters maybe the sales guys would be too-- oops, big mistake. I was interested in two trucks they had in stock, and got prices, in writing, for each truck from the sales rep. I test drove both of the trucks and decided to buy one of them. I then got a call saying they had made a "mistake" and the price was now $2000 higher. Very sleazy in my opinion. Needless to say I am not buying from them after this unethical behavior.
