The top of a tree fell on a transformer and was hanging on the line causing a power surge into our home. My husband shutoff the main box into the house and notified Adams Electric. We could smell something burning in the house so I texted Will at Longworks around 6 AM. He arrived at 6:30 AM to investigate for us. By the time the electric company got the limb off the line, he had identified all the items that had been fried by the surging power. They were booked solid - but he listened to my issue over the phone and gave me some troubleshooting ideas to include it is "usually a GFCI somewhere that got bumped and tripped that is causing the problem". I asked if that doesn't work, any recommendations for a competing electrician - provided with no hesitation. Before calling the recommended competitor, I found the offending GFCI (second floor bathroom - who knew??!), reset it and all good. So I never actually used them - but they will be my first call when I actually need an electrician. Though I think I know why they were booked solid.
