My 8 year old daughter has been attending Explore Horizons Frisco for about 4 months for help with…read morereading and math. She has already made significant progress in math (now above grade level!) and is making solid gains in reading as well. She was a year behind in reading and is steadily catching up. When we did the trial class, I was skeptical because it just looked like a bunch of kids sitting around on computers. However, we decided to give it a try due to reasonable cost, no long term commitment, no assigned homework and a spot-on assessment of my daughter's needs at the end of the trial class. I've been very pleased so far. The sessions are highly individualized, and she is exposed to many math concepts that she hasn't even done in school yet. The staff give feedback after each session, and the director does a one-on-one written progress update every two months. This is extremely helpful in tracking progress against state academic standards and grade level performance and in identifying strengths and weaknesses. The staff are all very friendly, encouraging and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend Explore Horizons Frisco.

I am confident to say that without Gideon we would still be playing a bit of "catch-up." My personal opinion...you do have to put the work in at home. If you are expecting a "miracle" after a month or two, I honestly do not think any learning center will fit the bill. It takes time and dedication to make sure our son is doing the work at home and prepared for the next challenge at class. (Yes we do trade Gideon homework for electronics time!) I have tried kumon (multiple centers in Plano) before and was complete failure. Didn't like their curriculum, neither the way of teaching. The experience was terrible for the amount of money you pay. My daughter will be there for 5-10 minutes with many other kids per teacher without consistency or care about student progression and then will send her home with meaningless homeworks. So far we LOVE Gideon (although you have to be committed for the tremendous amount of work at home) so far we don't regret it!

After a diagnostic test of your student's abilities, he can pretty easily assess how many sessions you will need to attain your desired score. From preliminary diagnostic to final test score, my son raised his ACT by 7 points!! Simply because he was taught HOW to take the test and how they are written. Michael will meet with your student at your home or whatever location you choose and the working sessions are enjoyable for the kids. Michael has a great way of connecting with kids and making them feel like they can achieve anything. Scheduling is easy ...you can do it online and it's easy to make changes if you have a conflict. The end of this story is even more amazing..my son is now headed to Yale, Columbia University, Harvard and Brown for college visits. Michaels work speaks for itself. My daughter really enjoyed her time with him and felt it help to prepare her in ways she could not have done on her own.
