The practice test were used so many times the answers were visible on the test and were a distraction. My student received the same score on the ACT before and after the program. She has already made significant progress in math (now above grade level!) and is making solid gains in reading as well. She was a year behind in reading and is steadily catching up. When we did the trial class, I was skeptical because it just looked like a bunch of kids sitting around on computers. However, we decided to give it a try due to reasonable cost, no long term commitment, no assigned homework and a spot-on assessment of my daughter's needs at the end of the trial class. I've been very pleased so far. The sessions are highly individualized, and she is exposed to many math concepts that she hasn't even done in school yet. The staff give feedback after each session, and the director does a one-on-one written progress update every two months. This is extremely helpful in tracking progress against state academic standards and grade level performance and in identifying strengths and weaknesses. The staff are all very friendly, encouraging and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend Explore Horizons Frisco.

The instructor uses DVDs for each module along with the study guide book to walk you through all the chapters of a course. He clearly has command of the subject. What I loved about the study guides was that the instructor took the language from the course and used layperson's terms to explain the context and meaning of the material. For those of you that are OCD, you can pass with an A! However, these study guides will NOT cover 100% of the material you might be tested on; if you want that, uh, just read the text book. But if you use this course, you can pass your test with a feeling that you actually understood and absorbed the material! I usually went through the entire DVD set twice, answered the questions in the test banks after each module and completed the sample test. Even when I lamented, because many times I couldn't even answer 50% of the questions correctly, I still passed! Friends of mine who've actually contacted Big Daddy University by phone or email for additional questions or information said that Scott was very quick to respond and extremely helpful if you didn't understand a concept from the study guides.
