Pro-tip: Weekly HH (7 cocktails for $7), with loveusic starting around 8 PM. Average American spot, best for group gatherings, mingling and enjoying live music.

Rating: 3.5/5 [drinks only] Our friend took us on a bar-hopping tour, and Rustic Tap was one of the stops. The place has a cozy, homey vibe with a mix of seating options--from campfire-style setups to bar seating and regular tables. I tried the Sure 'Nuff (Deep Eddy Lemon, Peach Schnapps, and Pink Lemonade), which was super easy to drink and tasted great. The self-serve water stations were a nice, convenient touch. We sat in front of the stage and caught a couple of songs from the live band before heading out. Overall, Rustic Tap is a fun, laid-back spot to hang out with friends and enjoy some live music.

Rustic tap is THE sports bar to go to in Austin. Great drinks, plenty of room to hangout or sit at a picnic table, good music. It's hands down my favorite place to watch a sports game. When there isn't sports on, it's fun to watch live music there too. I'll also shout out their food as I love their snack menu. I always get their flautas as a late night snack and they always hit.

Came here on a Thursday night, the bar was busy and packed with corporate finance bros with name tags and Thursday football crowd. There were multiple fireplaces surrounded with comfy camping chairs, which was a nice touch. We didn't order any food but they do have normal bar food. They have a nice selection of local beers. Out of the cocktails we ordered, El Tigre was the better one (3.5/5). I'm not a fan of their take on ranch water (2/5).

Your sports bar on 6th street near downtown Austin. Not sure how you can park nearby for free so that's a minus. Very frat bro and corporate bro vibes to this bar and super crowded on a Thursday night but it's got ample outdoor seating and food much like Heights Biergarden in Houston. Their drinks were fine and not too watered down but their ranch water wasn't my favorite.

Holy shiitake mushrooms. What's not to love about this place? The local beer selection is delightful. The bartenders will happily answer any questions you have. The food is a MUST! Don't sleep on the chips trio. Which is better, the salsa or queso? We couldn't decide...

Large space for seating, all outdoor seating. Stage for a band and dancing if your heart so desires. The place is crowded on Saturday nights so the bartenders are stretched thin so the service isn't great, and the drinks are even worse.

Best bar on West 5th. Laid, back Texas vibe. Drink prices are good especially compared to surrounding bars.

Went to ATX for a bachelor party and wound up here at the only LSU bar in ATX. Awesome environment and great live music.

The venue itself has a lively, open feel with an urban backyard vibe and plenty of space to move around, mingle, and actually take in the installation without feeling crowded. What stood out most was how well the space complemented the event. The layout made it easy to engage with the installation while still enjoying the social vibe. They had space for working virtually as well as displays to test some of the technology. There's a nice balance between indoor comfort and that signature rooftop-style setting, which gives it a relaxed but elevated feel. The staff was friendly and kept things running smoothly, and the overall setup felt thoughtfully organized. Whether you were there to focus on the installation or just take it in casually, the environment supported both. The line was somewhat long to get into the event as it was at capacity and could only allow more people as people were leaving the event. I was given a drink ticket and got to try the Patio Pounder with ilegal mezcal, primo aperitivo, tropical citrus, coconut, grapefruit soda. The bartender was efficient even though the lines were long. The cocktail was enjoyable with the balance of smoky and citrus flavors. They also had a variety of food bites available including chips and queso. creamy street corn, and sliders. The food was gone relatively quickly due to the crowds but it would be replenished periodically. Overall, Upstairs at Caroline proved to be a solid venue for a creative SXSW event versatile, welcoming, and very on-brand for Austin's arts and tech scene.

Fabulous! My friend…read moreTiffany told me about Anthem on Rainy Street. Neither of us had been, and also it's been years since we've been on Rainy Street. So we thought we would make a whole night of it. Tiffany did make reservations for us for 7pm and even though this is a bar hopping neighborhood, even at 7pm it was pretty busy. Streets were full of people. Anthem had a vibe. I felt the energy as soon as I waked in. The cozy booths with the U shaped seating with plush green velvet fabric. Wait staff wore Hawaiian shirts. Sitting up behind me on a ledge was the Easter Island statue. Insert (Night At The Museum) here, dumb dumb give me gum gum. Anthem was our first stop tonight. Just drinks and a dinner. I ordered the Peach Fuzzy drink. Not too sweet, refreshing, peachy, and beautiful garnish of a flower. I ordered the Yummy Fries which looked like a salad. Gorgeous presentation. Fries were actually waffle sweet potatoes. Pickled ginger, sesame seeds, furikake, aïoli and a few other wonderful ingredients. Could not get over how beautiful everything looked. Presentation outstanding. Service delightful. Had a wonderful time at Anthem. We both did use the ladies rooms before leaving. Inside the bathroom there is a sign about safety and if you need assistants. I did take a picture of it. On our way out, Brian the manager, said good night to us and waved. We later saw Brian at another place. And I'll write about that in my review for that place as well. Brian, you're Doll, thank you for your hospitality.
