My appointment with Dr. Ryan Aronin was at 12pm. A scooter accident around the corner from the UCLA campus office blocked the street with police and an ambulance, so I texted the office at 12:14 to let them know I'd be late. The staff was already aware of the accident. When I arrived at the front desk to check in, Dr. Aronin refused to see me and told me to reschedule. A few minutes' delay for a documented emergency outside his own office, communicated in advance, wasn't enough to earn any flexibility. I'll be finding a new primary care physician, and I'd suggest anyone who values a doctor with basic grace for his patients do the same. read more

I had to go to UCLA "Immediate Care" in Westwood, as I was still having symptoms three weeks after getting a bad chest cold. I saw Dr. Aronin about 40 minutes before the office closed. I was relieved to get seen (literally and figuratively), with prompt actions to prevent what was lingering in my system from getting worse. He ordered testing and medication, and explained a game plan depending on the findings. I wanted to hug Dr. Aronin and the staff for taking care of me when I had started to be very concerned about what was going on in my system. Dr. Aronin does not diagnose or give treatment or advise. He orders tests and once you've done the tests, he doesn't comment or advise. He prescribes medication you probably don't need, and if you question it, he is dismissive. He suggests that you will die if you don't do what he says. It's like he takes it personally. This is one of the rare times I decided to write a review and I'm posting it here and on Google! I had to go to Immediate care in Santa Monica a few weeks ago and that is when I met Dr. Ryan Aronin. It is SO rare these days to meet a doctor that not only has a genuine interest in your health but one that is working nights at an Urgent Care facility. I had to take a few tests and I just assumed I would have to chase down and follow up to get my results. To my surprise Dr. Aronin himself called me a few hours later to tell me the results. WHAT?!? NEVER has a doctor called me the same day to give my results and suggest further treatment. I was completely taken aback. Not to mention the efficiency that my messages were replied to and referrals that I needed were address and sent out. I wanted Dr. Aronin to be my PCP however sadly he is not taking on any new patients at this time. So so sad as this by far is THE best doctor I have come to know in my 60 years. To feel heard, taken care of and a level of stress that is eliminated because of his attention, level of care and communication to his patients. Dr. Aronin was absolutely outstanding! couldn't have asked for better care. I was feeling very ill and came UCLA Urgent Care. Dr. Aronin treated me and ordered tests that diagnosed me with pneumonia. He followed up with me several times to make sure that I was responding to the treatment and getting better, including a follow up visit and xray. I and my entire family have been patients of UCLA for over 40 years, where I saw many physicians of many different departments and always spoke highly of them until I was referred to you to become my primary care physician few years ago, and I was very impressed with you upon my first visit to your office, you have topped all of them because you provided me with an excellent care including but not limited to: 1) Taking your time to understand and diagnose my heath issues; 2) Referring me to the best specialists to diagnose and treat me; 3) Thoroughly analyse my test results, share them quickly with me along with your recommendations; 4) Being so responsive to my electronic messages; 5) Fully transcribing a comprehensive and detailed doctor's notes through your smart assistant and sharing it with me; 6) Being a very good listener, friendly and pleasant and always with good demeanour; 7) Allow your patients to schedule convenient appointment to see you on the weekend, which I never seen it happen at UCLA Health; and 8) Most importantly you care and take very good care of your patient! Switched my PCPs to Dr. Aronin a few years ago and have never looked back. He is the most attentive and responsive physician I have had. After sending him a message via MyChart, I usually receive a response within the hour if not within minutes! As a physician myself working long hours, he had convenient hours in the evenings to accommodate my work schedule. He pursues the source of the cause of any symptom and finds the appropriate procedure and/or Doctor to make sure any issue is attended to and treated. I have been seeing Dr.Aronin for a few years now and he is truly a wonderful and caring physician. As others have posted, any time one sends a message through the MyChart app- he( or his staff) respond almost immediately. At my last physical exam, he evidently heard something amiss with my heart and suggested further tests. This turned out to be a life saver as I saw a cardiologist and had an outpatient procedure that most likely saved my life. Dr Ryan saved my husband's life. He encouraged him to go to the hospital where a small problem revealed in a CT scan he had a mass on his kidney which they believed was stage 1 cancer. He answered my calls and other doctors. Even after working all day he called to talk to me at 9:00pm. If he did not encourage my husband to go to the hospital, which we thought was for a hemorrhoid, we would never have caught this cancer until it was too late. What I love most about Dr. Aronin is that he is extremely responsive to messages and is very available for appointments - be it virtual or in person. After years of disappointing health care in Orange County, where many doctors have gone to a "concierge" practice (meaning you pay $2,000+ a year extra to get the care you should be getting in the first place), I decided that driving to L.A. might be worth the trip. I was not disappointed. First, Dr. Aronin was on time for our appointment, an alien concept in Orange County! I had about 30 minutes of actual face time with him, wherein he made eye contact, listened attentively, addressed each of my concerns, and did an actual physical exam. He ordered tests, which I felt were appropriate to my concerns, and many of the test results came back the same day, and were posted on the patient portal, along with comments from Dr. Aronin. I also received emails from Dr. Aronin himself, discussing test results and addressing my questions. Imagine that!!! It was so refreshing, not to have been treated as if I am a monument to intellectual poverty regarding my own body! For the first time, I feel that this will be a collaboration between me and my doctor in coordinating my health care. But wait, there's more! He actually read the questionnaire I filled out prior to our visit, and discussed it with me. So, if you're looking for a doctor who is thorough, who actually listens, and who communicates with you in a timely manner, I highly recommend Dr. Aronin. read more

Dr. Aronin is the model of what a primary care doctor should be. I am writing not only because he deserves praise for his top notch care, but also because there is a negative review here that I find really annoying. An excellent PCP is hard to find, and Dr. Aronin does exactly what he should be doing, that is, trying to figure out what is wrong with someone, and if it is something that could be major, refer them to a specialist. Too many PCP have become warped by seeing too many patients with endless complaints, and too many don't take medical complaints seriously enough to bother to bother with referrals, unless the patient has an identifiable set of symptoms. Dr. Aronin is not like this at all. He seems to work all the time and takes patients seriously. The notion that doctors at UCLA are referring people to other clinics in return for some sort of payment is ridiculous. The doctors working within university clinics don't personally benefit from referrals. To the extent that ever happens. it would only happen within private practices. For someone to ignore a serious negative test result is foolish. The PCP relays test results from another clinic -- the system doesn't just make them up. Dr. Aronin is a great doctor. My only hesitation in recommending him is that he will soon have too many patients and be difficult to see. read more

Dr. Aronin used to be my primary physician, but he told me to choose a different primary physician because my frequent visits to his office inconvenienced him and his schedule. My visits were in fact justified because I was and still am ill. He simply wasn't competent enough to find out what the reason for my symptoms were. In addition to that, he made inappropriate comments about me. He also claimed that the fact that he simply saw me without actually doing anything to help me with my condition was acceptable. In his opinion, simply seeing me without doing anything to help or without sending me to a specialist that could help meant that he did his job successfully. read more

Look... I don't know who these people are that wrote these reviews.. They are probably family, friends, and co-workers. But what they lack I have in abundance.. The truth is in the details, and I'm here to tell the truth about my experience with Dr. Aronin.. Let me first start off by saying that, like many others, I bought into the UCLA hype machine.. I have a PPO and I have 54000 providers to choose from, but I chose Dr. Aronin, because I believed UCLA advertising.. They advertise that they are the #1 hospital on the West Coast according to US News and World Report, and I thought I would be getting the best possible care for my problems.. I thought Dr. Aronin would help me and would leave no stone unturned when diagnosing and treating my symptoms. He had all of my confidence and trust.. But what I found out was the following.. Dr. Aronin doesn't treat anything.. He is simply there to provide referrals and recommendations for testing.. That's it.. I had a laundry list of problems and I had every indication that they were neurological in origin, but the UCLA neurologist I was referred to was no help at all, the urologist I was referred to was no help at all, the hernia scan I had revealed nothing just like I thought it would, and was just another expensive test.. Dr. Aronin's job is not to actually help or heal anyone.. He is simply there to write referrals and request testing, so that UCLA can make as much money as possible.. I believe that Dr. Aronin doesn't care at all for his patients and to him they are merely cadavers with insurance waiting to be billed so that he and UCLA can enrich themselves on the pain and suffering of their patients for fun and profit.. Maybe Dr. Aronin works long hours, but he's a young guy, and he and UCLA are making $500-900 every time you visit him.. He will even charge you for phone calls.. I had a stress test, that was fundamentally flawed, and inconclusive, but he took it to be God's gospel and called me that same night after the test at 7pm and basically told me that I could die at any minute.. I asked him, "so what you're saying is that I have a ticking time bomb in my chest", and he said "yes".. Did he bill me for that phone call?? Yes, $540.. I think Dr. Aronin and UCLA were actually trying to cause me to have a heart-attack, so they could rush me in for expensive emergency surgery.. I complained of being dehydrated before the stress test, but Dr. Aronin didn't conduct any hydration tests, he just insisted that I take the stress test.. I took the stress test.. I had to sign liability waivers before I took it so that just in case I had a heart-attack UCLA wouldn't be liable.. All they care about is making money and denying liability.. After his phone call which lacked any kind of bed-side manner, I was understandably shaken, and I am under the impression Dr. Aronin was trying to use fear tactics in order to upsell a referral to a cardiologist who he swore was a good guy.. I didn't take the bait, and I'm still alive and kicking.. Dr. Aronin was wrong, his tests were wrong, and he will never admit it.. He didn't bother to do additional testing, all he recommended was an invasive and very expensive procedure called an angiogram which might have done more harm than good, even though there were other options available.. But his job is not to provide the most affordable options, his job is to direct all your business towards UCLA.. For what? To make money!.. After he told me I could basically die at any minute, did he bother to call back and see how I was doing?? No, he did not.. He only cares as far as the bill goes.. If he did call to ask how I was doing, I can imagine he would probably bill me for it.. Well, I'm not dead yet Dr. Aronin.. I find you to be completely irresponsible, borderline incompetent, and just another simple tool of the UCLA health system.. In my opinion, a bunch of scammers who practice the worst possible medicine there is.. All they seem to care about is money, and they don't care if you die or get worse because of their treatment.. I was lucky.. I didn't get any of their treatment so they didn't have the chance to turn me into a cripple. But, I know of another patient of their's, a friend of mine, who was actually crippled due to a "procedure" at UCLA, and UCLA is avoiding all responsibility.. Keep away from UCLA and Mr. Aronin at all costs!.. I don't know of one single patient who they have helped with their procedures. Nobody who has actually been there raves about UCLA.. Yes, they are polite and try to be professional, but I think that's as far as their expertise goes.. If you have something simple, like a paper-cut, or a broken-bone, or a migraine, then UCLA is your best bet for the most expensive medical help.. However, they can't solve difficult problems, and they don't want to take the time to try.. My insurance company and I spent over $8000 for a diagnosis and treatment at UCLA and we walked away empty handed. Waste of time and money. read more
