Is Dr. Jacobson retired? I loved him & his office. Great experience being there going all the way back to 1992 to start.

Dr. Jacobson was great. Scheduling an appointment was easy and they were knowledgeable about the immigration process.

Parking wise you have to go to the ralphs or target down the street and come back and buy something to validate your parking- but that's probably the most annoying part of this location. I have to give a special shoutout to the best primary care physician I've had in my adult life who happens to work at this location. Dr. Elizabeth Asfaw is everything a person could ever want in a doctor. She knows her stuff, she listens, she advocates for patients- she is so unbelievably human in her interactions. I never feel dismissed or like I'm walking on egg shells. She listens and cares about my individual symptoms - not just some "standardized template" so many other doctors seem to get defensive about when asked about trying different approaches. She has gone above and beyond for me for years, and I owe her everything for the headaches she has saved me. I never have to over-explain myself. Thank you Dr. Asfaw for being an absolutely amazing doctor- I wish they all could be like you!

They will charge your…read moreinsurer thousands, and if anything isn't covered, you're stuck with a massive bill for tests you could've paid $20 cash for at a Quest lab. UCLA charges this much because they actually don't want people to be able to pay. That empowers them to write off the "losses" to maintain their non-profit and tax advantaged status, while profiting handsomely off insurance. My insurance paid nearly $600 for only a few blood tests, while Function health tests for 10x more for $365 (or simply pay cash for the tests at Quest). UCLA is now charging me $700 for what insurance didn't cover. The whole US medical system is a joke, where hospitals and insurers profit and people suffer. Unfortunately, UCLA is complicit in it even more than the for profit lab corporations.

I have been morphing to a vegan diet, so I brought her the book I'm reading "Eat to Live" by Dr. Joel Furhman, and she was fine with me continuing the food plan, and said she will peruse the book and monitor my progress. She sent me up to the 3rd floor for the blood work, very easy in this wing of the medical center. There was only one person waiting so I got in and out right away. UCLA Medical Center is the most practical and convenient medical practice I have ever been exposed to. When you're in their system, anywhere you go they can pull up all your records and see what's going on. And they usually send you a follow-up review request so you can let UCLA know how you liked your visit. The only unfortunate issue in this visit had nothing to do with the medical center and that was that my appt happened to be on the day after there was an underground explosion on Westwood Blvd., and the entire intersection by the medical center was closed! Luckily I know how to cut through the university so was only delayed a few minutes. Talk about your news trucks all over the place! UCLA Medical, you rock!

Anyway, I appreciated Dr. Alice Agzarian's candor, and feel relieved that I selected her on the basis of a recommendation of some random stranger in line with me at the Costco Pharmacy to be my primary care physician for the purpose of my HMO. During my visit with Dr. Agzarian, I interacted with several of her staff members, all of whom I found to be really pleasant. And I only spent a few minutes in waiting, bonus! One note: Dr. Agzarian does not prescribe birth control, which is fine, as I've always had that taken care of by my lady-specialists. But if you like your GP to handle your non-baby needs, she's not the one for you.
