Compared to the Ryanair terminal, this is heaven - seriously suggest people wait here rather than in the Ryanair terminal unless you plan to fight for a specific seat. This airport is extremely accessible from the city - simply take a short trip on the tram and you will arrive in the city center - one of the few cities in Europe where it only takes a 10-15 minute trip to get from the airport to the city! Must say, I was surprised to find a dedicated Werder Bremen check-in desk in the main terminal!

Dropped off by taxi, it took a bit of time to find the right counters as we were so early that the Amsterdam flight wasn't even up on the boards. This is the usual setup for most non-US airports. Counters can sometimes rotate and so they post your departing destination (in order by departure, which I find confusing) and the counter where you need to check in. Once past that hurdle, the rest of the process was easy. Security was not difficult, especially as our Delta elite status got us into the fast pass queue. European standard security - remove all segregated liquids, laptops and other electronics out, shoes on, belt on and only a magnetometer. Through security is a large duty free shop with no "anti scent bypass" option so I zipped past it as quickly as I could. Lots of other shopping, many restaurants and at least three different airline lounges. Gate numbers are clearly posted, toilets were plentiful and clean enough. It was a mostly pleasant experience and I will be looking forward to another trip to Hamburg one day. [Review 12066 overall, 1849 of 2019.]

Here are my reasons: Easy drop off with no long walks to get to the terminals. Great signage, easy to see where to go and where to drop off your bag. I cannot say enough good things about the food market in the terminal, Marché. Food is always fresh & appealing, plus the prices are really reasonable for an airport location. Now what about security: the passport guy was a little grumpy today, but still had a smile on his face. The security gate people were in a jokey mood and even spoke English to the people who can only speak English (nice change from the Frankfurt Airport Security peeps who rather speak German really slowly and louder, which still doesn't help). Quick note about the toilets; it's a very nice touch that in the toilet cubicle there are sanitizer spray on the wall. This allows you to spray it on a piece of toilet paper and wipe the toilet seat. So simple but so genius. Plus for all Americans, it's nice to sit in a toilet cubicle which doesn't have gigantic gaps between the doors. Anyway, great airport. Love traveling from here.

Hannover Airport is relatively small and easy to negotiate if it wasnt for the security delay. They…read morehave very modern scanner machines but obviously don't know how to operate them. They tell you that you dont need to take liquids out of your luggage, but then all the luggage containing liquids is blocked after it has been scanned and opened and checked manually by a member of staff. This is ridiculous and inefficient. Very disorganised. They need some proper training also in people-management because they are rude. There is nothing other than a basic duty free shop once you go through security. A nice sandwich place though.
