We reached an agreement and when I dropped my car off for service, he drove me home! Then, when work was done, he brought my car to me. It was stuck on my driveway. I had a really hard time getting a tow, even trying AAA and insurance, because there's just not a ton going on in this area--especially on a Sunday. Mr. Velasquez personally offered to stop by my place and diagnose the car, and he helped me to secure a tow at a great price. His tow truck person came within 30 mins! I had waited 6 hours the day before, and no one came. He was able to fix the car within 24 hours. My starter and battery were not working. He gave me updates every step of the way. The job cost less than $700 for parts, warranty, and labor. He's truly a life saver, and my fix was super affordable. When I was getting ready to pick up the car, I couldn't get a ride, and he picked me up and I returned him to the shop. I couldn't ask for better service. He will be my go to from now on while I am in this area. Highly recommend!

DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN. This wasn't just a failed job--this was a straight-up scam…read more My boyfriend brought his truck to Mat's Automotive & Performance in early December 2024 for an LS swap and I watched the disaster unfold firsthand. Mat was paid $1,500 up front--not for work, but because he said he needed the money to buy Christmas presents for his family. The remaining $1,000 was to be paid once the job was completed. The work was never started. Not even touched. For the next 8 months, Mat fed us excuse after excuse, lie after lie. No updates, no photos, no proof. He claimed work was being done while doing nothing at all. In July 2025, we found the truck dumped in the street. Illegally parked. The motor we provided was still sitting in the bed--no work had been done at all. Mat had packed up, shut the business down and moved to Florida in the middle of the night without a word. He didn't just abandon the job--he abandoned the entire business. And what was left behind? * Expensive parts thrown away * Components on the motor broken * Gear column damaged * Zero actual work done This wasn't bad service. This was calculated theft. Mat strung us along, lied for months, destroyed thousands in parts and then ran away to another state. He closed the shop--not because he was held accountable--but to avoid accountability altogether. If you're wondering why this business is closed--this is why. He didn't go out of business. He ran from it. Don't fall for this man's lies. Don't trust his name in any form, in any future ventures. This wasn't just unethical--it was malicious. Mat's Automotive & Performance is closed and it should stay that way.

Prior to stalling, the truck had been jerking, sputtering during acceleration, and losing power while driving. After evaluating the truck, I was told the spark plugs needed to be replaced. I approved the repair and paid $509.19. I was then told the truck was fixed. Unfortunately, shortly after leaving, the exact same issue happened again. The truck began sputtering and completely died near Friendship Road and I985, creating a dangerous situation in traffic and resulting in another emergency tow that cost me an additional $300. I returned the truck and explained that the issue was still occurring. However, because the truck happened to start for them during testing, I was told they could not replicate the problem and did not know what was wrong. I specifically asked about fuel system concerns because the symptoms felt fuel related, but no diagnosis was made beyond the spark plugs. At that point, I no longer trusted the truck to be safe to drive and took it directly across the street to Christian Brothers Automotive Buford for a second opinion. Shortly after arriving there, the truck stalled again while they were attempting to move it into the service bay. Because the failure occurred while connected to diagnostics, they were able to pull active fault codes indicating issues with the fuel pump and fuel pump control module. I ultimately authorized approximately $2,000 in repairs for the actual problem. In retrospect, the spark plug replacement appears to have been more of a guess at the problem than an actual diagnosis, especially considering the symptoms remained exactly the same immediately afterward and the real issue turned out to be fuel system related. To be fair, intermittent mechanical issues can be difficult to diagnose, and the staff was polite throughout the process. However, I am disappointed that I spent over $500 on repairs that did not address the issue at all, followed by another breakdown and tow immediately after being told the vehicle was fixed. Given the safety risk involved with a vehicle stalling in traffic, I expected a more thorough diagnostic process before being told the truck was repaired.
