My wife and I decided to talk to a therapist after we were unable to come to an agreement on whether or not to have additional children now. I talked to a few different therapists on the phone to get an idea of what to expect. One place said it would take a minimum of 6 sessions - some to get to know us, a session where just I went, a session where just my wife went, and then we would tackle any "issues." We ended up going with Kristen after reading some great Yelp reviews, so maybe this will help you too. Bryne Griffey has supported my family through some extremely challenging times. He is exceptional! He has worked with both of my younger sons - and with my youngest for several years now. When we began to see Kristin we were really struggling in our relationship. My husband had a very difficult time defining his feelings or validating mine. He was also very reluctant to give up behaviors that allowed him to be numb to his own life and our marriage. As a person with high anxiety and trust issues, I was in no great shape myself. Both new to therapy, we didn't know what to expect, but felt immediately comfortable with Kristin. She has a very unique way of conveying a deep understanding of how you feel. She finds a way to express these feelings and put context around situations so that you can move forward to find ways to solve issues and break negative communication cycles. Kristin was able to help my husband give up negative and self destructive behaviors and he is engaged fully in our marriage now and committed to rebuilding trust that was lost. He has become a pro at really listening to my feelings and validating them and through counseling I think that he better understands the "WHY's" of my thoughts and feelings, which has given him a way to connect with me. I am so grateful to Kristin for helping me to work through my issues of anxiety, recognize my unhealthy thought patterns and begin to change them. She has worked with me using life span integration to identify the root of my anxiety and fears and my need for control. The greatest decision I ever made was to go to Kristin. From the very first session, I left there feeling empowered and really heard and understood. She has a gentle yet direct way about her. She calls on BS when it was necessary and I welcomed that. She opens up new ways of thinking that you never thought existed and finally just finally the cobwebs begin to clear. I came to Kristin at a very low point in my life, she was extremely compassionate and caring and very honest. Through sessions with her I was able to come off my anti-depressant medication and I have been off the medication for two years yay! I once read an article about how talk therapy was more effective than medication for treating depression and I thought no way - I have a chemical imbalance how can talk therapy fix that? But it did! Sometimes the sessions were hard because I have a tendency to bury my head in the sand and not deal with my issues and working through them can be very painful. I have absolute trust in Kristin, she never let me down, never steered me wrong - even when she said things I didn't want to hear, she was always working with my well-being in mind. I would not be where I am today without her. Gosh I just made myself cry doing this review!! My life is sooo much better now!! I feel like Kristin Moorehead basically saved my life. She was referred to me by a couple I've known for more than 20 years and they couldn't say enough great things about her. My husband had left me suddenly and I was desperate to repair our marriage. The first few sessions were amazing. My husband seemed to realize many things could be healed and I thought we had a chance. But apparently the truth was that he really didn't want marriage, no matter what our problems were. He stopped going, and I didn't know what to do, or how I could be happy without him. I though I'd never accept that I was getting a divorce. I was devastated, and decided to continue seeing Kristin. I cried every day, all day for the entire week before seeing her for my first solo visit. I went into the appointment crying. What she said to me that day was amazing. The way she put things in perspective completely changed my opinion of the situation. Instead of dwelling on the horrible situation I began looking at myself and thinking about what I really wanted for my life. I know what I'm about to say may not be typical results, but I haven't shed another tear for my husband since that first solo visit. I still can't believe it. That was almost a year ago. This weight had beed lifted and I finally realized that happiness was possible for me. I continued to see her six months. I truly feel like I would still be a complete disaster, and a blubbering mess had she not transformed my way of thinking with her words. She not only helped me get through my divorce, but also with many other issues from my childhood that I didn't even realize were affecting my confidence and my happiness.
