The best salon experience of my life. Sahara is the warmest, sweetest, most welcoming hairstylist I've ever met. I felt like we were friends after three minutes. She gives you tea or coffee and candy, makes an effort to get to know you, and then makes your hair dreams come true with careful and deliberate work and love. She clearly loves what she does so much, and she really works to make sure you feel your absolute best, inside and out. The slightly higher price than normal is worth it- she detoxes your hair and then applies an amazing conditioner that she leaves in as she cuts your hair, and she also spends over an hour and a half on the cut. Five years ago I sat down with Sahara to talk about taking my hair from dark brown (and at least 9 box dyes) to blonde. I had tried many salons before, but each time it turned some terrible shade of orange... Sahara was the only hairdresser who was honest about what would need to be done to make the change (without destroying my hair) and it worked for the first time. I've had my hair dyed a variety of colors (the red in the profile picture is old) over the last six years, and I can say without a shred of exaggeration that Sahara is head and shoulders above anyone that I've trusted with my hair in the past. The first time I met Sahara was for a haircut. She has an astonishingly warm presence and I was immediately at ease; she genuinely loves what she does and the tremendous amount of pride and care she takes in her work is reflected in both your experience in the chair and the final results. The second time I went to Sahara was for a black to blue balayage and the results were stunning. I had to dye my hair back to a natural color for about a year and a half, so my hair was half-previously-bleached and half near-black virgin new growth, challenging for sure but Sahara handled it beautifully. I've never had a color come out so well-blended or multidimensional, nor have I received more compliments. She left plenty of strands of black hair blended into the color to give it a more natural, dimensional effect. I brought in a picture of an arctic ocean to demonstrate the range of colors that I wanted, and she translated it to my hair perfectly. I had this done in October and now, more than five months later, the color has lasted longer than any other dye job I've had. Granted washing it with cold water certainly helps, but I've had blue tones in the past that bleed like crazy but this still looks like I got it done within the month. Pure magic. There's not enough that I could say that would adequately describe how incredible Sahara is at what she does, but I know that moving forward, I will be coming to her as much as I possibly can. I just wanted to cap off the review by reiterating what a warm, incredible person Sahara is. You're not just a paycheck to her, you're someone she wants to care for and help achieve both your best hair, and a sense of well-being. She takes her time with the consultation to be sure you're both on the same page. I called to make a new appointment for a consultation, which is offered on the website, and instead of a call back I received a text asking for photos of my hair, asking what shampoo I used and what my hair goals were, just to make sure it fit the stylists "signature". Never in my life have I had to interview for a hair appointment. If you aren't doing in person consultations to actually feel and see my hair in person and have a discussion, then take it off your website. If your too busy to take new clients than be up front about it. If you want to cater to only famous and rich people than take yourself off the internet and go by word of mouth. Coming from LA, I have pretty high standards for hair care. Sahara has beyond impressed me with every single service I have gotten from her. S.A.S. is one of the few salons in Boston that carries ProAddiction Smoothing Treatment (which all of my friends in NYC do and LOVE) so I decided to let Sahara give it a try with my curly/wavy hair that does not stay straight for anything. I am beyond ecstatic with the results!! Sahara worked her magic and the ProAddiction has left my hair beautifully smooth, shiny and straight (about 95 percent of the frizz and curls are gone, which for my hair is incredible). If I could give 10 stars I would. Sahara is such a gifted hair stylist, colorist, hair cutter. She's a true artist and can style your hair to suit your face. She's amazingly generous with her time - she doesn't rush. I've learned so much about how to care for my hair in between sessions as well. I use only conditioner now - I haven't used shampoo in my hair in years. She gives such a good cut - it lasts months. In addition she's just such a nice person - so honest and sincere - I used to make separate appointments for a cut and then the color - just to connect with her. I don't think I've ever known anyone so dedicated to her profession. Sahara - before the pandemic - was always pushing herself to learn more - She would work in her salon in the North End during the week and then in the Meat Packing District of NYC on weekends. She was always up to date with techniques - I mentioned once before - she gives my hair botox treatments. In any case, I can't recommend Sahara highly enough. I have very difficult, curly hair and Keratin does not work on my hair. A few years ago Sahara recommended the ProAddiction treatment and my hair has never looked better. Sahara has turned my hair into a designer color using a melting technique that's bright and blonde - exactly how I have dreamt of having it. She took her time with it and did it in a way that was not damaging to my hair in any way. To be honest my hair has never looked healthier. I also get a KeraSilk treatment that works better for my hair - this is very similar to a keratin treatment. Sahara does both here but tweaks the treatment for your hair type.
