They cut the lumber to the size we need , supply what is needed to do the job correctly and they explained everything to my cuz in easy to understand instructions cause my cuz is no Einstein. The supplies are heavy and my back and knees hurt or that's the excuse I am sticking too but that's ok cause the workers will carry it to the car and don't be cheap and tip the guy . Glendale lumber epitomizes the single store operation that has been handed down from generation to generation,. Its sad to see so many fall by the wayside and heartwarming to see those businesses that have remained. I had my stairs to the basement rebuilt this week, first instructions to him were to use Glendale Lumber for all materials. I did this knowing full well his reply would be that they are more expensive than Home depot. I am not a rich man, but I will pay extra to a local family run business, always have and always will. The blond oak planks were cut and ripped to my specific needs at no additional cost. Quality of the wood was excellent, no knots, straight and not dinged up in any way. "Back up your vehicle into the garage as to not get a ticket at the hydrant" was the advice of the workers, who accommodated my contractor by loading up the material and attaching a red plastic flag to the end, for visual warning to drivers behind his truck.

It's been well over five years now, and it still looks good. The good: Everything is solid, and high quality. The manufacturing is as local as local can get - as it is made just a few miles away, but you'd swear it was made in Italy, given the craftsmanship. The local manufacturing was a huge plus for me, as I wanted to keep my carbon footprint small. The installation went as well as could be expected - every major kitchen install is complicated and filled with issues. The could-be-better: There was a lot of conflict between my architect, my contractor, and NY Loft. I doubt you would have any such issues if you just use NY Loft as your designer, contractor, and installer. But if you need them to work with others, and have others work with them, stand back, because there will be major fireworks. In spite of that, everything got done. The bottom line is that they were trustworthy, and they got the job done, and it all looks good and functions well. They are headstrong and have tempers, and they may not always play nice with others, but when all is said and done, they are professional. The project might take a while, and there will be bumps along the way. Kitchens are complicated, and any kind of renovation in NYC is especially complicated. However, I would recommend NY Loft to anyone who is willing to go the distance in a renovation - they'll go the distance for you.

The cabinets hold an amazing amount of weight, clean up really easily, and look fabulous!!! Due to bad walls in our apartment, I was concerned that the cabinetry wasn't anchored in properly. They certainly didn't have to do anything all these years later, given that it was the wall that was the issue, but they sent an installer who completely removed the cabinet, and re-installed just to be sure. Talk about standing behind your product!!!! I can't imagine not wanting to use them. Can't recommend highly enough!

The first 2 days I spoke to Andrew we discussed the doors I gave him the measurements he sent me CADDS with the wrong measurements so after 2 days of that I spoke with Gus all the while asking to speak with the only person that acts like a pro and gets the job done correctly and timely- Rita. I was told that her days and hrs were cut back!, I knew that she worked Saturdays so I tried calling again on a Saturday-day five asked to speak with her and she was not available. Still no order placed the clock ticking panic setting in I ended up speaking to Hank. We went over the CADS and discussed the measurements. The back and forth was literally maddening- then we discussed the location of the hinges for the 2 closets and 1 bathroom- he became loud aggressive, nasty, belligerent! He was unable to clearly explain how he wanted me to collect the information on the location of the hinges. First he said when you pull the door towards you are the hinges on the right or left. I told him that not all the doors are pulled some are pushed in. So then he tells me to stand inside the closet then says stand outside then he says it doesn't matter! Anyone confused here! He was clearly incapable of communicating effectively. So once again, I asked to speak with Rita. Hank said he would not transfer me to her and that I would have to deal with him. So it became too much so we ended the conversation with yet another emailed version of the wrong information on the CADS. So I spoke to my contactor, he informed me me that there was a Dykes Lumber in Park slope. So as a last ditch effort to at least get my door order placed, I spoke with the supervisor Justin. He was very apologetic, but then did nothing except to say that they were closing, and that he would call me back on Monday morning. He never did call Monday morning instead I called him. I finalize the order on Monday a full week lost! I received the confirmation email only to see That he put the wrong shipping address!!! This was clearly done intentionally because when I placed the order I filled out a credit authorization, which has my full address.! so it's not possible that this was a mistake. If this order is messed up in anyway, unfortunately, I will have to take legal action! I wish I could share snaps but it has my personal info
