Excellent knowledgeable (Indian) sales person. The older cashier is service was very brusque - non verbal get your shit and leave, we don't care for your type . The community is changing and there's other hardware stores in the neighborhood that's pleasant, comfronting and appreciative of those who partronize there business. I absolutely loved my experience here! I just moved to the neighborhood and wanted to paint a piece of furniture.Although Home depot was closer to me, I decided to go to this location based on the great reviews/high amount of stars. My visit did NOT disappoint at all. AJ, was the staff member that helped me. He had a lot of knowledge regarding the products and knew exactly what i needed after i provided a few words. Friendly and helpful neighborhood hardware store. Highlight: There is always someone at the front to greet you and ask you what you need. They have a pretty decent selection of tools and other items you might need around the house (e.g. shovels and sidewalk salt). You pay slightly higher prices than going to that big box store on Dekalb, but the service at Broadway Krown is leaps and bounds ahead of that orange place. Recommendation: for small jobs or everyday fixes around the house, Broadway Krown should be your go to. read more

My favorite hardware store in Bed-Stuy for over 30 years! They have pretty much everything! Including those hard to find items for 100+year old homes that you can't find at the big box stores! And customer service can't be beaten! They've put up with many of my normal and strange requests over the decades. And they are the BEST key makers in the 'hood! Yeah...they may cost more on some items than the "bleeding orange" (Home depot) but when you factor in travel and the lack of customer service/knowledge... its worth the extra few bucks! The old saying is true...."You get what you pay for"! I'm "old school". I'd rather pay a buck or 2 more, close to my home/in my neighborhood, and get not just a product, but a friendly/professional staff (you won't find ANY of their staff on a cell phone, holding up a finger to you too "wait" when you need to ask a question, while they finish up an argument or discussion with a girl/boy friend on the line), an experienced and knowledgeable staff that does not mind talking to me and helping me through my projects! Even when I have to wait my turn... It's so worth it! They are really great folks! read more

Before trekking to Home Depot, for the smaller home improvement items and tasks, I'd give this place a shot. The layout of the store isn't the best but the staff is very friendly and they seemingly have everything you need. Especially if you need a key made, this is the place to do it. They charge practically pennies for key duplicates. Something I've seen be really pricey at similar places or speciality key replacement / locksmith shops. In fact, a key replacement is less than $2. I've gotten all my durable, shock proof locks from this store too. What I use for both my work and gym lockers. I've never seen a line here and there's always an employee who's extremely knowledgeable. As I mentioned in the beginning, could be a good alternative to a more well-known home improvement chain. read more

They have an outdated selection of goods, and the service behind the counter is very short. When I went to the counter, the card reader would not read my card or allow for anything but a credit option. Make sure to bring cash, or just find a better hardware store. I find their prices to be higher than average for household goods and small repair jobs. It's definitely not the Depot. Artist/Craftsman is only a few blocks away and they operate as if it's actually 2018 not 1998! read more

I've been a patron of Krown's for 6 years, ever since I moved to Bushwick. It's a great, great independently owned hardware store. Shopping here is completely different from one of the big box stores or corporate chains. The staff is friendly and expert; a lot of of them have been here for years. So impressed. I walked in at closing, which everyone knows is poor retail edict, so I was surprised when more than one employee greeted me with a smile. Not even 15 seconds later an employee asked me what I needed help with, which was much appreciated since this was probably my 4th trip ever to a hardware store. The man picked out everything I would need for my task, gave great recommendations and even refused to let me carry anything until it was bagged for me to leave. I've been coming here since 2003. This place is invaluable. Carries items HD does not. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and abundant. You will be always be offered help before you have a chance to seek it. After answering all your initial questions, they leave you to browse and do not hover. They always wait the right amount of time to follow up with you, too (not sure how they've determined this with such precision; years of experience, I gather); you never feel as though you're being hounded. This staff is amazing! where do I begin.. ...I was rushing to make it home from work and arrived shortly after the store closed. I knew exactly what I needed to fix a hole in my wall(so I get my full security check ;-P), so, once I told the owner he ran and retrieved everything I needed in the matter of seconds, then he rang me up quickly... I had a good experience- I recently moved into the area and my super walked me over to get paint and supplies to work on my home. The day before we called with a few questions and the 1st person that answered the phone was a little off- he couldn't answer questions and repeated himself a lot without giving us the information we needed- he wasn't rude though just uniformed? I decided to call back and the man that answered was polite, professional and answered all our questions directly. When we came in the next day we actually met the guy I spoke to the next day and he was great. I left the place a little more than $200 lighter with multiple gallons of Benjamin Moore paint and supplies. We've already been back a 2nd time.
