I have a 10-year-old son with autism, and cutting his fingernails and toenails at home has always been an absolute nightmare for him. One day, he came with me and his little sister while we were getting our nails done, and the sweetest woman here offered to cut his toenails for me. Ever since that day, she is the only person he will allow to cut his fingernails or toenails. Some appointments are good days, and some are harder, but no matter what kind of day he's having, she is endlessly patient with him. She works at his pace, makes him feel comfortable, and does whatever she can to make the experience positive for him. Today was especially emotional for me. He was having a really hard time, and instead of anyone becoming frustrated or making us feel like we were an inconvenience, the entire salon rallied around him. They brought him toys, played games with him, distracted him, encouraged him, and worked together to help him feel safe and get through his appointment. As an autism mom, it's hard to put into words how much moments like this mean. Having a place where my son is met with patience, kindness, understanding, and absolutely no judgment is something I will never take for granted. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who works here, and especially to the wonderful woman who takes care of his nails. Something that may seem like such a small act to someone else has made a huge difference in our lives. Thank you for making my son feel welcome, safe, and cared for.

So I came in during the morning at their opening time. When I went in, it wasn't that busy and I…read morewas seated right away. I got a basic mani and pedi. The pedi was okay for the most part. But when I got home, I realized that my toenails weren't as round as I would have liked them to be (I asked for them to be shaped round). And during the pedi, my nail tech using a sanding band on my calluses, which is not safe or recommended. Being a nail tech myself, I know this shit. Also, I felt that the massage was a little too quick. Now for the manicure. This is where problems started showing up. I asked for my nails to be round as well, and my nail tech didn't make them as round as I would've preferred. She also decided to use a big drill bit with the sanding band on my cuticles, instead of using a smaller drill bit with a smaller sanding band. She was also kind of aggressive when she worked on my cuticles, and as a result, accidentally tore some skin on one of my fingers, causing it to bleed. Now I decided to show some grace and told her it was alright, because that will happen sometimes, but it wouldn't have happened if she had just used a smaller drill bit or just used her nippers. As for the buffing, for whatever reason, she decided to use a big buffer on my nails, which was completely unnecessary. One of those small, rectangular shaped buffers would've done the job. Now my nails have scratch marks on them as a result of that big buffer she used. The only good thing I can say is that she got my mani/pedi done quickly. But again, it wasn't that busy at that time, which means she had a good amount of time to do a better job. I paid $50 for the mani/pedi and gave an $8 tip, just to be polite. Most definitely never gonna go back.
