Recently we hired a chauffeur to drive four adults to a concert in Canandaigua. Generally it takes about 45 minutes to go from our home to Canandaigua. The driver picked us up in time which was at 6 PM. The concert started at 7:30. We realized that traffic could be tough so for that reason we left at 6 o'clock. The Driver was perfectly nice. The driver knew where we wanted to go. We left our home and didn't pay close attention as we assumed the driver was professional. About 10 minutes later we realized the driver who knew exactly where we want to be which was Canandaigua was going in the WRONG direction! It was going south and west where we want to go north and east. We were surprised that not only did he not have a GPS he did not have a good map plan. Let's face it it's not difficult to find a good journey when you have an Internet. It is not hard when you have a smart phone. It is not hard if you call AAA! Well We help the driver and explain to him how to go to Canandaigua. Not that difficult but then again for what I'm spending why do I have to help them do the job. Keep in mind we were going to a very famous concert. I think people from Syracuse or Buffalo could've found this concert when you have Rod Stewart and Cini Lauper are playing. You may not appreciate The music but I'm certain you could find out how to go. By the time we got to the Canandaigua concert we were LATE, the concert had already started. Not such a good thing especially when you're spending a lot of money. We were being charge $300 +20% tip plus parking charges in an SUV. Given the fact that my wife had to explain to the driver how to go I would've felt that she should've gotten the tip (wink). To go further after the concert the chauffeur seem to have trouble knowing how to get us home. Once again we needed to help him. He was a very nice person just incapable. One more point: I did call the company the coming week. I asked to speak to the manager so as to share my problems sith S & S. The person answering the call put me on hold, then finally got back on telling me the Manager just left. I left a message with my number and told them I was unhappy with my recent use of S & S. I thought S & S was going to be the best of the best as their google reviews online were pretty stellar but that really wasn't the case. The people I spoke with on the phone over the last month attempting to coordinate the bus were very helpful. Their quotes were consistent for the most part and other than a few lengthy hold times, it was fairly easy to reach the company. Our group was going from Rochester to the Bills Game in Buffalo and we booked a 27 passenger. Upon booking, I was told that the 27 passenger would comfortably seat 24, but that legally there could be 27 people. Now, the people going on the bus were all adults but some smaller than others, put it this way, if the bus could legally seat 27 I figured there would be absolutely no issues with our group fitting 27 and when it came to the day of, we only had 24 people so I was excited we were all going to sit "comfortably." Comfort my A$$. 24 adults could not fit in that bus. We were squished up against one another and someone needed to sit in the aisle of the bus on top of a cooler which was incredibly unsafe as the only place the cooler fit was right near the entrance of the bus where she could have easily tilted over onto the doors. There was NO TRUNK. I was shocked and so unbelievably frustrated as it was known we were clearly going to the Bills Game to tailgate meaning we had coolers galore, three tables, corn hole, chairs, tons of food, etc, etc. How do you not have a trunk for space to store things? We had to sit on tables, sit on coolers, squish food under our feet and behind our heads, it was a disaster. I was so angry that nobody told me on the phone that there was going to be no room for our belongings. It was a nightmare trying to get everything onto the bus. Now lets talk about the smell of the bus. It smelled like stinky old frat house. Clearly there had been some beer spillage the last time this bus was taken out and it was not cleaned well because it smelled awful. The bus was incredibly boring inside as well. One of the exciting things about getting a limo bus are the lights, the cool sleek interior, this was the most dull basic boring bus I've ever seen. Black seats, no handles, no poles, nothing. The aux wasn't working either. I was told it would work with an iPod, so I brought my iPod and it did not work. I was also told to bring my own aux cord in case the one on the bus wasn't working. So, I went out and purchased my own cord and it did not have a spot for me to use my own. The music was only audible in the back of the bus. There were no speakers in the front half and the bass overshadowed the sound quality, so disappointing. The music didn't get loud at all and we turned it up as high as it could go. Honestly, it was boring. I couldn't even get people pumped up for the game because we were so uncomfortable, music wasn't loud enough, etc. In addition, our pick up time was scheduled for 8 am. This means we were paying for the bus starting at 8. The driver showed up a few minutes late which was really annoying because we had expected the driver to get there early (like all of my drivers have in the past) so that we could spend the necessary 15 minutes loading the bus with our things and be on the road by 8. We ended up not getting to the game until around 10:45 and had hardly any time to tailgate before having to leave and go to the game. We were the last bus to enter the bus lot. It was a buzz kill. Don't get me wrong, our driver was cool and kind and did his best, I think some things were probably out of his hands. For $1,500 I really expected a LOT more from this company. I have used S and S many times over the years and I am officially a loyal customer. I even used them for my own wedding. First, they are responsive whether it is through phone call or email. Second, they have fair prices. Third, they have a variety of vehicle selections. Fourth, they have professional and friendly drivers. Should I continue?! I used them last month for a wine tour that I threw together last minute. They were able to give me the best price on a busy holiday weekend during peak season for weddings. I even misunderstood the quote, and they honored me at the lower price that I thought. It is not too often you receive service like that any more. I reserved an 8 person limo for my event. The day came and a 26 passenger limo bus showed up. They explained that due to the heat the air conditioning of the stretch limo was not able to keep up, so they gave me a complimentary upgrade to the bus. Again, that is service you do not get anymore. The bus was modern, clean, and they provided us with water and cups. Also, our driver, Howie, was professional, courteous, and timely. We had our 92 year old grandmother with us and he accommodated her needs. Also we made some last minute changes to our itinerary and he rolled with the punches just fine! Thanks Howie! I am disappointed to see the other poor reviews for S and S. In my years of using them I have never received bad service and would recommend. After the great service I experienced this last time using them, I will not bother searching for other transportation in the Rochester area when I am need. We used S&S for our wedding and were extremely disappointed with their service. We had a huge number of problems along the way because the prices we were quoted in our initial phone call were not honored. In addition, S&S failed to honor the rate that was sent from S&S in the contract and that we signed and returned. I've never, ever heard of a business doing something like that. After many, many phone calls, S&S finally seemed to want to help us the week prior to the wedding (they did send someone to drive the groom to the church at no charge--thank you!) and took copious notes on how to best get our guests from the hotel to the reception for the start of cocktail hour at 5:30pm. The plan was for the first shuttle to arrive at the hotel at 4:30pm and leave for the reception at 4:45pm. We received a rather confusing phone call at 4:15 (in the middle of wedding photos) that the shuttle was already at the hotel (which was fine). However, the shuttle LEFT at 4:30pm, and made a return trip to arrive at the reception with a second load of people at 4:55pm. In addition, the driver allowed people to sit three per seat, which meant that over 100 people were at cocktail hour over 30 minutes prior to the start of food and beverage service. I can see that S&S might not think that arriving early would be an issue, but it posed a giant problem for my poor parents. Guests were hungry and thirsty and started complaining that the bar wasn't open. They complained to management, management talked to my parents, and my parents ultimately opened the bar early, costing them quite a bit of extra money. In addition, my parents had to unfortunately overhear some borderline rude comments from disgruntled guests. It got the evening off to a very tense start. In addition to the early arrivals, the driver for the shuttle ASKED GUESTS the best route to the venue. 85% of our guests were from out of town and had no idea, though they should not have been asked to begin with. The driver of the wedding party shuttle also asked us directions. Plus, he did not have EZ Pass, which delayed the bridal party by about 10 minutes, causing us to arrive late to our cocktail hour. All of the drivers were perfectly nice people, but I am unclear why there was so much confusion when I was assured that the drivers would be completely clear on timing and directions. It has taken me months to write this because I was so, so, so upset about the whole mess that I just had to put it out of my mind. I'm getting upset just thinking about it now. I didn't have a single issue with our other vendors. Our family used S&S for my sister's bachelorette party, her wedding, and my brother's wedding. All were lovely experiences. I'm not sure why or how the communication breakdown happened here, but it was extremely unfortunate. I will not be recommending S&S in the future. I just got married this past weekend. Back in April, my fiancé spent his entire tax return as a down payment on a black escalade limo for our wedding. He then spent an entire paycheck to payoff off the rest. He specifically wanted to escalade because it was our wedding and he wanted to do it right and in style. Friday night at 4:30 pm we received a phone call saying they sold the escalade 2 days before and they were sending a limo bus instead. They purposely waited until the last minute to tell us so we couldn't do anything about it. We were TOLD, not asked, we were getting exactly what we didn't want for the SAME amount of money. They were rude and did not offer any sort of discount for disappointing us. That is crappy business. I will be sure to spread the word about how shady and under-handed they are. My friends and I used S&S for a wine tour yesterday and were very impressed with their service. The driver arrived 15 minutes early so we were able to get an early start. We had booked a 6-passenger SUV, but apparently another customer had cancelled so S&S sent us a 10-passenger limo instead, at no extra charge! The driver was extremely friendly, courteous, and professional. And he had no trouble at all with finding the wineries on our list. If/when I need a chauffeur service in the greater Rochester area again, I will definitely use S&S! read more
