Would just like to say the previous review is not typical for kittens adopted from new beginnings…read more They have saved many many cats and kitten over the several years we have known them. And they work hard and with love to take care of all they help. I have foster/ raised many kittens and puppy's over the last 50 plus years and they might be healthy and playing one day and unfortunately pass the next day. I had a puppy from a litter I had chosen to keep and after 3 trips to the vet she died in my arms less than one hr after the last vet visit. We were heart broken. But vet did animal autopsy because he was shocked and upset also. Turned out to be a congenital heart defect that is not easy to diagnose. Things like that just happen sometimes. Sorry for your loss, hope you tried again and adopted another kitten to love later.

I am writing this just to inform others of the experience I had with this rescue. If you do not…read morefeel like reading this entire review please just know that this rescue is not the place you should adopt a cat/kitten from. I recently adopted a kitten from New Beginnings Feral Cat Rescue in Wilburton, PA and within two days of having her and upwards of 650 dollars in vet bills my kitten passed away. She passed away from high liver values and being too little at only 1 lb to fight off whatever was happening in her liver. The emergency vet said it could have been congenital defect or that she had not been eating for over a week. At 8 weeks old, the vet said kittens should at least be 2 lbs. I understand that the rescue does not have magical powers to know which cats are born with/without a birth defect, but I am writing this review for how they handled the situation. I feel that the kittens should be vetted before they are adopted out. In addition, the rescue's location is in a very dilapidated house and it was not sanitary. This problem and the owner of the rescues reaction to my kitten passing made me feel broken hearted and frustrated. The owner of the rescue responded afterwards asking me if I wanted another kitten, and that she had one that was "like" my kitten. I felt very upset by this and told her that I would not be adopting another kitten from her rescue in a very respectful manner/tone. The rescue responded with a message that left me feeling like they did not care about the loss of my kitten. Afterwards, the rescue posted on their Facebook page that they were having a tough week and loss a kitten, so I posted a photo of my kitten to remind them and myself that she was loved up until the end. Immediately after I posted it, the rescue deleted the picture and blocked me from the group. I felt so hurt by the fact that they were trying to cover up the fact that they adopted out a sick kitten and that they did not care to acknowledge my kitten in anyway. Also, they refused to refund me for the spay that was included in the 120 adoption fee. I feel that others in the rescue community and adopters should be aware that this rescue is not a reputable place and please think long and hard before adopting a cat/kitten from this rescue.

We camp near Tamaqua and came across this gem this year. We've traveled to the cat cafe in…read moreWilkes-Barre so we had an idea of what this is like. The owner was very welcoming. The coffee selection was decent for a cat cafe with a big selection of flavor syrups to add to your drink. The little gift shop was fairly priced and had a lot of unique things. I loved the little black cat mascot, as we have a few furry voids at home. There was about 16 cats in the room when we went on a Saturday afternoon. You can tell they are well taken care of and that the staff cleans very frequently in there. With the 3 of us and the other family we had enough room that we didn't feel jammed in. There was one orange cutie that kept trying to knock my Niece's drink off the windowsill, and a precious long haired grey cat that claimed my husband's lap for the last half of the hour. We were given wet treat tubes to feed them which all the cats went nuts for and there were plenty of feather wands and toys for us to interact with the ones who wanted to play. The coal theme plays in perfectly to the area and the wagon appears to be the hang out area for the cats. It was a fun experience we plan to do again soon. It's a great cause (socializing and getting cats adopted) and the owner is obviously passionate about the mission.

Their goal is to find homes for these adorable felines and so far have placed 24 cats into forever homes in just three months. As Ron mentioned, you don't do this kind of business to get rich. I think it's more of a vocation. There is coffee and packaged treats available for sale. Not only that but a selection of T shirts, and fun toys for your favorite feline. The real stars here are the wonderful cats. I personally love how the owners tied in the Coal Region history into this modern forward thinking (in all the right ways) business. You will sign a waiver to enter (customary) the cat area. It is themed with all things Coal, like a mine decoration, pick axe and even a "coal wagon" delivery wagon (the cats seem to love it). We stopped by in passing but you may reserve time online. The number of people permitted is six maximum. The only other such cafe I knew of was in Philadelphia. I believe thanks to Covid and lockdowns that went under. The owners are enthusiastic about helping animals and customers visiting. Please support this incredible business and bring your little ones and friends to enjoy these sweet creatures. I did not get pictures of the entrance room but it is organized and colorful.

I just returned from donating some sheets, a comforter, a cat bed, old kitchen towels (for…read morecleanup), most of a 25lb bag of cat litter, a FULL bag of cat food & some cans, a carrier & a pillow to these folks. Probably over 200$ worth of things-just to make a point. While I realize they're run predominantly by volunteers & they're probably stressed and busy, the way I was just treated is terrible. I just had my almost 23 year old cat put to sleep on Monday afternoon after a stroke. I'm devastated but trying to honor him by donating his things-I took the time to launder everything for them yesterday to cut down on their work load after speaking with Patricia on Monday night. Patricia was very kind-also want to make that point. When I arrived, there didn't seem to be any access to the place. Again, I get it, volunteers are busy. I was brushed off by an employee I saw entering the building, who told me to just leave it outside the door & that someone would come and get it. Ok. I stacked his things by the door. I sat in my car & cried. Ten minutes went by. No one came to get the things. I decided to try the front door, just to make sure they were aware the things were there (& , frankly, it was a bit hard for me to just leave the stuff outside in the parking lot). I tried the front door-locked. I decided to just go, but a woman popped out the front door with an immediate attitude-"You need to give us a minute!". I told her, ok, I just left some things for donation, I just had my cat put to sleep on Monday. She asked where I left them & I told her over by the other door. She asked, sharply, "Where? The back door?". I told her no, right around the corner. At this point, this woman had the audacity to ask me "why are you so angry?". My face was swollen, I feel pretty sure it was clear I'd just been crying. I asked if she was serious & she responded, "Yeah! I am!" ZERO empathy for someone grieving the loss of a pet-from someone who works with people & animals. I was stunned, I still am half an hour later. I was planning on returning to adopt from this place when I'm ready for new babies AND to donate time AND money. Not now. I'm absolutely stunned at the way I was just treated. I cannot recommend this place, especially after seeing numerous other reviews from other folks who've been treated similarly.
