I recently boarded my dogs here and it was a horrific experience for my dogs.
Drop-off is only allowed at certain blocks of time; the concern, however, is you are surprised later when you get your bill and are charged a "early drop off fee" because you choose the certain block of time that is designed as early. Everything has a fee attached which you will be stunned about when you get your bill later. The fees are egregious and not clearly explained.
On drop-off day when we arrived, it was an absolute mess with one person answering phones AND waiting on customers at the front desk. In the midst of the chaos, the women at the front desk called the owner of the facility about a dog who had to be rushed to Berks emergency vet due to overheating in front of the customers waiting. This was before an impending heat wave and I was NOT put at ease of having to drop my dogs off in the current situation I walked in to and hearing that. Having a destination wedding that I could not back out of, I had to leave my dogs there for a 8 day stay as scheduled and hope for the best. My dogs were whisked away to the back without so much as a hi or bye and my instructions were hurriedly provided with the front desk person. It was an uncomfortable ordeal and I worried for the duration of their time in boarding. Not what I was looking for in a facility.
I arrive pick up my dogs as scheduled and again, there is pure chaos in the office. The staff start giving us the dogs one by one, I noticed one of our dogs was limping and had open wounds on the top of his head (both of which were not present when my dog was dropped off). He also was lethargic and not his usual, happy self. When the staff was questioned, we were told that they didn't notice anything and had no knowledge of anything. He was evaluated expeditiously by our veterinarian after pick-up and was diagnosed with a UTI (urinary tract infection) which was attributed to not being let out enough to go the bathroom and low fluid intake. I called later in the week and got the same answer and a runaround. My dog came back limping with a shoulder injury, wounds which are going to leave a scar, and now antibiotics for an infection.
Also of note, another of my dogs (in which I paid extra to have groomed) came back to me with a horrendous, choppy cut that was uneven and didn't even look finished. The other 3 were supposed to get baths since the stay exceeded 5 days but smelling them indicated that those baths likely did not happen.
Overall, the whole ordeal was expensive for boarding (over $1200) and vet bills after, I will never again use this place.
I would strongly advise anyone reading to not board your dogs here. It's running purely for profit and not a care is to be found for the dogs themselves. Overpriced, poor care, and zero customer service. read more
