I had met with a few flooring companies before finally deciding on SW Contractors through Lumber Liquidators' third-party referral program. I was skeptical as they are the only contractors Lumber Liquidators refers to but I can understand why they maintain that referral relationship: SW Contractors are top notch. Our job was an involved one as we were ripping out tile and carpet throughout our downstairs and putting down hardwood in the kitchen, living, two closets, hallway, bathroom and entryway. Steve came to the house and was able to give a detailed (and pretty competitive) quote right then and there. We had some tight scheduling issues as I wanted the rest of the family out of the house for the install. Laura, the business/office manager, worked with me to get our project scheduled on exactly the days I needed. The crew of three arrived and immediately got to work. By mid-morning, they already had ALL the demo done! Jose, William and Eduardo were fast and meticulous - even taking extra (unexpected) steps to minimize the mess (which, if you've ever removed tile, you know there is a LOT of mess!) They hauled away all of their waste when they were done, too and even kept their work area neat between project days- something I didn't expect but really appreciated. I LOVE my new floor. We went with the taller baseboards as Steve recommended and the finished product is gorgeous, contemporary and SO clean! We're almost a year into our top-to-bottom home remodel, and absolutely in love with the first and second story stranded bamboo and carpeted floors that S.W. Contractors installed, and equally in love with our installers. Now, here's another reason why you shouldn't even think about going anywhere else for your installation. Recently, a couple of floorboards in the center of an expansive entryway began to separate slightly, about 1/8th of an inch, apparently not uncommon with click together floating wood floors, since they are designed to float as they expand and contract seasonally and floorboards may sometimes get stuck. When I called to ask Laura what to do, she immediately scheduled a team to solve the problem. Luis and Alex added compensation joints to allow smooth expansion and contraction at a couple of strategically positioned doorway locations. In the original design, we asked S.W. to lay down 2000 square feet of bamboo on the ground floor in a continuous stretch, unbroken for almost 80 feet over the full depth of the house, but the jigsaw complexity of angled walls and doorways created a couple of unforeseen stress locations. The gist of this update is that Luis and Alex came to do this very complex and difficult adjustment...over Labor Day weekend! We do have family coming to stay this week so that extra priority was really helpful, but what is even more impressive is that we never had to ask for that priority treatment. They just do their utmost for you because nothing is more important to everyone at S.W. Contractors than satisfied customers. Thank you Laura, thank you Luis and Alex. And thank you Steve. The reason for my update is that, once again, this company has shown me they are unlike any I have ever hired. S.W. S.W. Contractors installed carpet through Lowe's in San Bruno. When the estimator was supposed to come out, no one showed up for 30 minutes after the scheduled time. I had to call Lowe's, who called S.W. Contractors, to see what was going on. No reason was given, but the estimator showed up 30 minutes later and did what appeared to be an adequate job. The team that did the installation, however, (led by Aaron) did an admirable job. They seemed to be hustling and working hard the entire time, taking few breaks. We are happy with the way the the carpet was installed, and they worked well with the more complicated areas of installation. One other good point about SW Contractors is the level of communication. From the day my job was assigned to them, they've been in constant communication and asked for feedback, which is appreciated. read more

I purchased my carpet through LOWES and had the carpet installed by SW Contractors a few weeks ago. Not sure how they communicate with the person who did the carpet measurement. I was very shocked when they informed that the carpet was not adequate for installment with seams. So the installment will have a gap between the carpet for the bedroom and the carpet for the closet. They said the gap would be invisible as it would be covered up with the closet rail. IMO they just did not want to do the extra work of seaming the carpet. I had to call LOWES and told them that I never wanted to such a gap from the beginning. I did mention about this during the carpet measurement. In the end, they were able to install without any problem. They even had extra carpet for me to keep. Weird ... after they said it was not enough. The installation went well. They vacuumed the carpet after the installation. However, they did not install the existing bracket to cover up the joint between the carpet and the laminated floor. Their argument was that they were not prepared with the glue for laminated floor as they were not informed about installing such a bracket by the carpet inspector. They also did not put on the aluminum bracket to cover the joint between the carpet and the tile to the bathroom. LOWES's said that I must purchase the aluminum brackets separately. Well ... why didn't they say so from the beginning when I mad the purchase. HOME DEPOT contractors immediately install the aluminum bracket without I even asked for it. read more

I used SW Contractors (subbed to Lowe's) for laminate flooring installation. Everything from the measurement to the final installation was done professionally and competently. That is saying a lot from my experience with other contractors. Manuel and his helper did a great job, explained everything and were very courteous. Even Steve, the owner and 2 other office people did their best to help with every question that came up. My Yelp friends know I don't give 5 stars very often, great job SW! read more

S.W. Contractors installed my tile, wood floor, and carpeting through Lowe's. They were very professional and did an excellent, quality job. One of the carpet installers accidentally chipped a piece of the wall and they sent a drywall guy to repair it right away, without being asked to. I highly recommend them. The only issue I had was that the person who measured over-estimated some supplies and we had to return them to Lowe's. The painted floorboards I couldn't return. I think this was because I had him measure for either carpet or tile in the bathroom and chose tile, so there was a bunch of carpet padding and a few baseboards leftover (but also tile grout and wood caulk). So, that mix up could have been avoided with better communication or someone looking over the order better. The really nice thing about them I'd the fact that they've called twice since the installation to make sure it was to my satisfaction and when I mentioned a small caulking issue, they said they'd come out to take care of it. They really made me feel valued and standing by their work, so I must highly recommend them. Some advice: If you go through Lowe's, make sure you review all the details of the installation and supplies very carefully. Lowe's never told me that SW might need to level the floor, which is an extra cost. They also were supposed to take off the grout sealing, which they didn't. read more

My fiance and I recently purchased carpet and tile through Lowe's in Sunnyvale and worked with SW for the install. Overall I was very pleased with their customer service and professionalism. I especially appreciate their receptionist Carolyn, who answered all of my questions and helped the process to run smoothly. Lowe's was often tough to communicate with during the process, but SW made up for it. Everything went well with the actual install as well. The crews were professional and did a great job. There was one little mix up with scheduling, but everything was ironed out super quickly. Also, one of the installers asked me if he could toss the existing carpet out the window (which overlooks my neighbor's garage - I'm in a condo complex), but I'm just gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was joking;-) read more

I found SW Contractors through Lumber Liquidators. I was told that all I had to do was call SW and they would send someone out to provide a free installation estimate along with a complete list of materials needed to complete the job. I went a week or two because each time I tried calling, no one would answer. I figured they were busy and continued to try them back. Once I did get a hold of the office staff, the representative on the phone was very nice and got me set up for an estimate the very next week. The guy that came out for that estimate was on time, patient with all my questions, and very kind. I immediately felt comfortable. I waited about a day or two for the estimate to come through and then my boyfriend and I decided to move forward with this company. After we signed the contract, we were told that we needed to go purchase the material and then call back for the install date. So the first free day we got we headed over to Lumber Liquidators to purchase the materials (materials had to be purchased through Lumber Liquidators ... not anywhere else). Once we had all the materials we were ready to make the install appointment. We did have to wait about 3 weeks, but this was ok with our time schedule. On the day of the install we were given a time window between 7 - 8 AM, but told that it would likely be right at 7 AM considering their crew really close to our home. On the day of the appointment, the installers arrived at 8:10 AM. No biggie, but kinda funny considering all the ladies in the office reiterated the 7 AM start time. The installers were OK. They barely spoke any English and when there was a snafu with the bathroom installation I was getting a little frustrated because 1) the estimate guy was aware of the original flooring and assured me they could handle the job and 2) the installer was speaking to me in both English and Spanish ... and I don't speak Spanish. I immediately called the office to see what was going on and they were able to communicate with me the situation and although I wasn't super happy at the time, they did everything they could to make the situation a good one. The installers completed the other work and were going to come back and finish the problem room once I addressed the bigger flooring concern with a general contractor. As it turns out the general contractor just completed the entire project so I didn't need SW to complete that anymore. I called to let them know what was going on, but since I had the left over unused material and a closest that needed flooring I asked that they install the flooring in the closest instead. SW Contractors was able to make this change and got me on the schedule at their first opening. All in all, we had a positive experience with SW Contractors and would use them in the future and recommend them to friends and family. read more

I am soo happy with the work that was done on my house!!! Contracted by Lowes, S.W. Contractors did an amazing job on wall to wall carpeting. The were on time, took few breaks, finished within the day and cleaned up after themselves. Aaron and Javier were beyond amazing. They answered all my stupid and repeative questions, treated our furniture with respect, asked to use the restrooms, used covers for their shoes as to not get my brand new carpets dirty. The stairs are the best part. Simply wonderful work! I also think that if you take care of the laborers that doing such a hard job, then they tend to go above and beyond thier normal call of duty. If you have contractors working, be nice.. have you place air conditioned, make sure your place is free from clutter so they can manuver and get around.. These men are working hard.. have ice cold bottles of water for them.. Lunch time comes around.. buy them some lunch.. really it's not too much to order a couple of pizzas. I recently purchased engineered Harwood floors from Lumber Liquidators and installed by SW Contractors. We attempted to have the floor installed by another contractor (after they said they could work in a Condo, but half way through the bid backed out). SW not only was able to work in Condo's they seemed to have a lot of experience doing so. SW was also able to identify that my concrete floors were level, while the other contractor had not. Saved this from being a surprise half way through the job or missed entirely. The one area of improvement would be the entry way transitions. After being initially unsatisfied with 3 of the 6 transitions, they came back out and replaced them at no additional cost. read more

They were also very careful to make sure the sub-floor was level and flat before installing the wood floor. We had two estimates prior to my husband meeting Steve, all were referred via Thumbtack. My husband was very impressed in how very thorough he was when obtaining the measurements. He discussed the installation process in detail and was very professional. He knew his business and we gave him ours. The installers came out a little over a week from agreeing to his bid. The office is staff is AMAZING! From my first call with Lisa who didn't hesitate to answer my questions, to Laura ( I think it's Laura) and Omg I totally forgot her name, it starts with a D...! Aaaahh, forgive me sweet lady but you were also amazing to work with! They set everything up and called me the day before the install just as a reminder. Jose and his team of 2 completed the job in a day (approx 490 sq ft) and did an awesome job! It was perfect. I did have just a slight issue with the gap between the floor and our fireplace. I called the office and mentioned it to Lisa and said it probably isn't a big deal. But she said she would have Jose come back out to take a look at my concern, anyway. He did. There was nothing he could do as far as the gap because of the bricks being uneven but he did fix it by simply caulking the gap with the same color as our floor. Can't even tell there is a gap now. Like I've said in my past reviews, I don't often write one unless it's well deserved. This one is very well deserved. I was hoping though, that Steve came out to check on the final work just like I've read in other reviews. It just would have been the cherry on top. But I'm sure he's a busy man. read more

I emailed SW Contractors about our flooring job that needed to be done in large part over this past Christmas and New Years. We were moving our small art school to a much bigger space and the job needed to be completed in only a few weeks time - over our winter break - leaving us enough time on the tail end to move in and set up. Steve (the owner) called me back right away and we began the process, which is usually done the other way around (usually you buy the flooring materials and the store where you bought them sets up the installation contract). He told me it was no problem to get the job done in the timeframe discussed and walked me through the multiple steps it would take- pre-leveling, where to order the materials from, and what to expect as far as costs were concerned. He was even willing to negotiate some of the labor costs to help us stay within our budget. Three weeks later we had our gorgeous floor fully installed, despite an unforeseen delay in materials. Our crew, Silvester and Luis, were absolute professionals- showed up on time, were easy to communicate with, and took their jobs very seriously. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this kind of integrity in a metro area where contractors are famous for being deadbeats and no-shows. Never once did I have to call and ask "where is everyone?" They stuck to their schedule, and that was that. I would wholeheartedly recommend these guys for any of your flooring needs. They are the creme-de-la-creme. We went over to Lumber Liquidators when we needed new flooring for our 7yr old home. The guys at LL recommended S. W. contractor who came over to preview and measure the floor. He went to extreme lengths to persuade us that Engineered flooring is better than wood flooring based on his professional research he had conducted. He further discredited the 20/20 or 60 minutes investigation about Lumber Liquidators. He was either very persuasive or we were very gullible. We ended up going with his recommendation. Over the three days of the installation, he never showed up. Not for a single day! Over those three or four days, we only interacted with his two (plus another one on the last day) hispanic workers who barely spoke any English. A couple of days after the installation, we noticed some lifting, called him and he still never showed up! TO DATE, THREE YEARS LATER, OUR CONTRACTOR IS STILL TO SEE THE HANDIWORK OF HIS "HIRES"!!! They never listen to customer concerns and do terrible work and then do not stand behind their work. Manny was insulting to me and my wife. He does not know the basics of construction and how to check for a level sub floor or even how to fix a not level sub floor. Upon the first install, a couple weeks later we had some joint bubbling and after inspectors came out it was due to accidents from our dog which wasn't covered under any warranty. We recently purchased our Tobacco Road Acacia 'easy click' engineered hardwood from Lumber Liquidators and hired S.W. Contractors to install it. The installers drove to our 'rural area' home, worked quickly and efficiently, finished our job which was originally scheduled for 2 days, in 1 day, and did an amazing job undercutting around our fireplace hearth, which was a concern to us. You cannot tell that the flooring was undercut and fit into place. We could not be happier with the very professional and excellent job that their installers did. Their customer service was excellent from beginning to end. Remember to call ahead though, because they are very busy and we were scheduled about a month out from the time of our request. SW contractors installed my Laminate flooring purchased from Lumbar liquidators. The first day of installation, the poor installer had to come alone because his helper was sick. He did a great job and worked hard all day long. For the second day of installation, I rescheduled the appointment. On the appointed day and time, there was no phone call and no contractor. I called SW and spoke to Carolyn. There had been a mix up and our appointment had been cancelled. We were then rescheduled for Sunday installation, which they usually don't do. The installers were so nice and did an awesome job. I will call SW contractors for any flooring needs that I need in the future and will tell all my friends and coworkers to call as well. Just a follow up, Debbie from S&W contractors is a joy to work with, she is persistent and careful choosing her words when speaking to clients which is a plus for this company. she listened to me for 30 min and said they would like to hire a person with experience cleaning oil stains and I agreed, this person was top pick in my book, he new what he was doing and how to use the tools to get the job done. SW laid wood floors for us via Lumber Liquidators. They were terrific. Chris, who did the measuring, was great. But, then we had a problem with Lumber Liquidators and by the time we had all the flooring, SW told us it would be two weeks till they could lay it. I was frustrated, due to living on plywood floors with a two year old, and when I told the receptionist this (Carolyn), she was able to expedite our appointment and we had it laid within 3 days. The three guys that laid the flooring were fabulous and very accomodating everytime my husband had to leave his home office and walk down the hallway. I could not be happier with SW Flooring. I wish I would have had even 3 star service from Lumber Liquidators but that is another review... I would definitely use SW Contractors again. read more

My husband and I just had hardwood flooring put in for our liviing room and both hallways (upstairs and down). We purchased the flooring from Liquid Lumberdators and they gave us a few choices. We are so lucky that we chose SW Contractors. Everything was handled in a very timely matter once I made the appointment for measuring, got the estimate (great price); got the appointment I wanted and needed. The floors were completed on Sunday, because our floors were not level. Anyone else may have just put the wood on top of an uneven floor. The floors look great!!!
