I've been captaining a coed softball team with S3 for 11 years now and although our roster has turned over many times, we've had many different opponents and umpires, and I've personally transitioned from "way-too-competitive young guy" to "token old guy that everyone just hopes doesn't hurt himself," the one constant has been how rock-solid S3 and Ben have been. The vibes in these leagues are immaculate - whatever skill level you're at, there's a place for you on an S3 field (and more importantly, at an S3 sponsor bar). Even the teams that are clearly waaay better than everyone else are generally full of laid-back, friendly people who will happily raise a glass with you after the game no matter what happens on the field. I can't say how many more softball-playing years I have left, but I've made some wonderful memories and even better friends playing in S3. read more

I played in the S3 sports league for 2 summers. A group of us did a S3 event outside the city with arranged transportation. We learned that Ben S. doesn't really care about the customer's safety, valuables or feedback. His remarks were sexist, evasive and condescending. You'll see here on the bad reviews that Ben responds with excuses outside of S3 and that it's a "you" problem. As a regular participant in S3 leagues, I can confidently say that my experience has been positive. It's a great way to stay active and socialize with other individuals around the same age group. I have joined as a free agent in hopes of meeting new friends and as an individual team with other friends. I have participated in a wide variety of sports including, indoor volleyball, kickball, and softball, and every season has been great. There is usually a league you can join any day of the week. I came upon S3 at a very difficult time in my life. I needed to get myself out of my doldrums. So I decided to do some research and find a league I could join in hopes that maybe if I don't make friends, I can at least be active. Well one year in and all I can tell you that it was life changing. Not only have I met people that have become close personal friends but I've been able to be active in incredible leagues centered on the idea that its okay to have fun. I've done other league sports in the past with different organizations and none top the care and attention you get with S3. You really feel like you can out of it what you want from it. It caters to both casual and serious players. Also nearly everyone I've met has been an absolute delight. The way that the sponsor setup is done is ingenious and goes a long way to ensuring that people mingle and are offered excellent priced food and drinks. I've played with S3 for a volleyball and a kickball season. Both times have been really enjoyable! I've found the games to be organized well and S3 has been very communicative with schedules. I list myself as recreational since I'm there for the activity and to be social. So for me the games have been fun where everyone tries their best but not too serious! I have been doing S3 for the past 6 years and just realized that I haven't ever reviewed it as a whole. While some seasons are better than others, overall this organization rocks. The one misconception I think a lot of people have is that this isn't a very competitive league. Some people sign up thinking they are the next Rizzo, but most of those "hot dogs" don't last too long in S3. This is a league more for socializing and honestly doing something during the week. If you want to join a league and are unsure of your athletic ability, this is for you! This is a league to make friends and romantic relationships. I cannot count how many friends I have made in this league that I hang out with regularly. While the love bug hasn't bitten yet, there are a couple of friends planning their wedding right now to fellow S3ers. The only downside to this league are sometimes teams don't really meld. It's not S3's fault really, but I've been on some nightmare teams. Luckily, I've been on way more great teams! Also, sometimes people aren't reliable and you are running around finding subs, but again, that's more of the persons fault than S3. They do a lot of sports, but my favorite is Softball! Big team, nice bar, and lots of socializing. It's the old reliable! read more

I joined the S3 bowling league on a whim a few years ago and now I can't imagine getting through a Chicago winter without bowling on Sundays. Everybody in the league are really friendly and if you join a team by yourself you are sure to make a few new friends during the season. Joining S3, Simply Sport and Social, has been a great way to grow my community in Chicago. I've been in Chicago for 4 years and have played sports my whole life, but found most other sports leagues here to be more exclusionary. I would rarely hang out with my teammates outside of games and rarely found other events hosted by those leagues to be very fun. When I found S3, I signed up because the times and locations were convenient to my schedule. The BIG difference between S3 and other leagues is the people. I quickly developed friendships with my teammates and competitors and have since gone on to develop great relationships with these people. Where as other leagues could often feel exclusionary S3 feels inclusive. I still have a great time with playing the sports (volleyball, kickball) with some nights being very competitive. At the end of the night we all go to the bars to hang out having a great time laughing about the games. Also I have done many of the other activities such as float trips in the summer which are fun and relaxing. I first moved to Chicago from VA a little over three years ago. It was right before the pandemic where everything was starting to close. The summer of 2020 I joined my first kickball team in S3 (Simply Social Sports). I found the team through Meetup when I was trying to make friends. I signed up for an Individual spot (completely random mix of people) at Jonquil Park on Tuesdays and the friends I met there I still interact with. I'm even still on teams with some of them! My experience really helped me open up more to people and become social. I went from starting on an Indy team to now managing two of my own teams on Tuesdays. I couldn't fathom even having such a network of friends to be able to form two teams of around thirty+ people. I would highly recommend S3 to anyone who either has just moved to the city, wants to learn a new sport, in need of more friends, or is looking for a future partner. I've had more success in dating and relationships through S3 than I've had on any dating app. I've also made more friends now in these past three years than I've had in my life. Been playing in S3 Softball since Spring 2020. It's been a great time to reconnect with friends during the pandemic as well as continue it on with other friends this spring/summer. Only reason I give a 4 star instead of 5 star review is that the 6:30PM game times can be tough to make with all the traffic. We do have quite a few players that live in the suburbs, so the trek out to the city for the 6:30PM games can be a time crunch and unpredictable with how bad the traffic can be at times. Other than that, Ben and team are great and we love our umpire Stacey. Additionally, they added the option to reserve ahead of time with the sponsor bar, which is great since there's been plenty of times we've had to either wait over an hour or go somewhere else entirely due to the long wait. read more

The organizers were very accommodating and helpful adding a friend that wanted to join my team at the last minute. They give plenty of subs so you meet a lot of new people and there isn't a problem with forfeiting games.
