100% the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. I went on a night where it was basically completely empty except for a party which was already fed. I go to order my food and they are out of ALL the soups. I ended up ordering something else and then they tell me that another item is not available 20 minutes after my original order. After waiting 40 min I ask about my food only to tell me that ANOTHER item was not available. I was originally planning on eating in but at this point I decided to take my food to go. The food was alright but definitely going to be going to any other African restaurant because the experience was just awful. read more

I really enjoy the okra and goat pepper soup but they really need to get a hold of their operating hours. Never plan to visit on a Friday after 6 for food and please understand at anytime you can go for a sit down, meal And drinks and they will let you know they have an event going on so it's take out only. There was a time when this was a spot you can go to for drinks, food and lounging. Now, nope unless you are renting for an event. Overit.com. I must say that I was skeptical about this place but it exceeded my expectations. On a Friday We pull up to a shabby building in upper Darby and while the outside looks sketchy, the inside is wayyyy better. They have a separate entrance for the restaurant portion and then a second entrance for the lounge. Dinner was great. Def well seasoned and tasty and portions were good. I def couldn't eat it all as I got full fast. The waitress was also nice. The lounge itself exceeded my expectations. You walk into a club atmosphere and people are literally dancing nonstop to afrobeats. It was soo fun. Did I mention the drinks were STRONG!? Yasss. I had a terrible experience with the owner who was extremely rude and misleading. After speaking to her twice on the phone and confirming that she had certain items in stock, i placed an order only to be informed hours later by the doordash driver that she didn't have the items i ordered. They wanted me to let them keep the money and they'll add the items to my order next time i place one which ??? makes no sense ?? finally when i got it cancelled an replaced the order, it arrived and was completely wrong! i called the owner back and i'm pretty sure she was at church because there was extremely loud gospel music playing in the background and she didn't want to move to a quieter space or give the the number for someone who was actually at the restaurant. I told her the items were wrong and she was like "What do you want me to do about it?" and i told her that i'd like the missing items i ordered and she told me that i have to send someone to pick it up! If i COULD have done that then i wouldn't have freaking ordered delivery in the first place!! I asked if she could send someone, she said no, and was getting so agitated and snappy with me, shouting, making snide comments until finally she was like "how are you going to solve this?" i said "YOU tell ME. You're the one who messed up my order" and she was like "And so??" m Finally i just had to take a deep breath and laugh to myself to keep from having a breakdown. This food was ordered for a family reunion and we don't see each other often so it was very important and it was placed HOURS advance so they could have called to let us know things were out of stock at any point during the day. Mind you, this order was over $200. Anyway, still working with doordash to get a refund. I will NEVER be ordering from this place again and if you value your peace of mind, you shouldn't either. All of Saturday night(afrobeats night) was spent highlighting new artists that I was not even interested in. I just wanted some good mainstream afrobeats and a good time. Recently got some African food there (Egusi, assorted and pounded yam) and I have to say, the food exceeded my expectations. Will definitely be returning in the future. As for the lounge/club, the nights alternate between African and Hip-hop music and it's pretty good. The $20 is a bit steep though. read more

I didn't want my review to be their first, but I have to say it. I ordered breakfast at 10:18AM. The delivery window was 40-60 minutes. At the 90 minute mark, I checked with Yelp. They said that SA Cafe tried calling me, but couldn't get a hold of me. My wife had called me in that time and the call came through no problem. I called my cell from my office and the call came through no problem. I made sure that my number was up to date on my account. It is. They said they would be leaving the restaurant at that moment. Another hour went by and I had no food. One minute after I told Yelp to cancel the order, the doorbell rings. 2 hours and 45 minutes after I ordered, I had my food. The first problem I noticed was that the "Banana Muffin" is in fact a chocolate chip muffin. The sausage is not good and barely warm. The waffles are soft and barely warm. The only thing that was good was the bacon. I was going to give them one star, but the owner gave me 50% off for my troubles and hunger, so that's something. Like I said, I didn't want my bad review to be their first, but who would I be if I didn't warn people? Maybe it's an off day for them, maybe they're just trying to get off the ground. Ordered the goat stew. I'm sure a day or two ago the goat meat was tender but the goat stew delivered to me was dark, dry and tough. The sauce was was clumping together. I have cooked goat stew many times in the past this goat stew should not have been served. I hated to waste food specially when I'm having a bad craving for goat stew but I couldn't bring myself to eat the stew and had to throw it away. read more

We found this place and went there last night and don't regret it. It's a blended crowd. My hubby is Nigerian and I'm African American. We both truly enjoyed it there. This place is trash on every level. Unprofessional, unorganized, and dirty. I went here for a friends event. I hadn't even heard of this place prior because I do not frequent the area. It was a Saturday night. My girlfriend ordered food front he upstairs area, I think she ordered some type of chicken. She couldn't finish the meal because she said it was disgusting. We went downstairs because they even tho they had a full bar upstairs you can only order from the small bar downstairs that was packed. Took sooo long to get a drink and the bar tenders were slow and kept asking me what I ordered. Took us about 30 minutes to get a drink. When we finally ordered they ran out of the liquor and someone had to go get more which took about 15 minutes. My friend had a table with bottle service that didn't come until 1:25 am!!! I The bottles were ordered at midnight. I could go on and on. Saw a flyer on Eventbrite for a silent party so I purchased a ticket. The event was scheduled to start at 9 pm and they promoted 0.50 wings and an open bar. Extremely misleading, as the "fryer was just turned on at 11 pm" and there were no wings available--in fact, hardly any food was available and patrons were waiting 2-3 hours for sides! When we arrived at 10 pm there was only one DJ set up, and the other two DJs did not get up and running until 12 am. The bartender was very nice, but she was very overwhelmed with 10 patrons. The management team did not offer her any help! I would not recommend coming here until they become more organized, its a complete waste of time and money. There are just so many things wrong with this place and I actually feel bad for them. They seem nice but they had nothing in stock, Ok I understand that, typical African restaurant. the jollof rice was extra soft and looked mashed together like a baby's food. That's a big no no. The to-go rice was squeezed up in one tiny black plastic, looking like mashed rice, I couldn't eat it.
