While San Antonio is known for its sweets, I thought I'd try a couple of places. First stop, Casa Dulce Dulceria (CDD). While CDD has numerous Mexican candies, no bueno for Tam Tams. I was struck by the number of piñatas in this candy store. San Antonio is known for piñatas. There are common at birthday celebrations ranging in size from small to large. The piñata is filled with candy and the blindfolded person hits the piñata. The piñata is normally strung from a tree and the person hitting the piñatas is spun around before swinging at the piñatas. Of course as a kid the fun part is grabbing the candy when the piñata bursts open. Fond memories... On to the next location...

The store was similar to the one in Austin but maybe a bit more of a selection. Right away I found alligator boots that are just amazing looking. The person helping us was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the boots. Unlike the other store I first visited, here they also had other clothing and in particular, their jeans. The jeans look nice enough to wear with a jacket for a nice event, but they also have casual jeans. I know these boots are a bit expensive, but they are never going to go out of style and they will last a lifetime. They have so many amazing looks with their boots so I know I will be back for another pair.

It's pretty much the same as any other Costco except they don't sell hard alcohol in the warehouse. You have to walk into an adjacent store operated by a different company. It has the same orange shelving but staff actually ask customers if need assistance. Costco in general has good deals but San Antonio is more affordable than Seattle.

I suppose the self scan as you walk in is good. Self checkout usually runs quick and smoothly. I don't know why they don't have a self scan to check your groceries against your receipt on the way out. That's where the lines back up. The food court would be my main complaint. It makes no sense. You have to order at the kiosk; there's no convenient place to wait; if you order in advance by phone you have to ask someone about your order and it always feels like your interrupting. One time I ordered pizza for a party by phone and even I got to the kiosk to pay, the pizza was out of stock. It was confusing and added an additional challenge, but I got my order. Obviously, that's not a deterrent and I'll probably come back for other party needs.

I've used the optical department for years and they have switched to a QR wait system, getting rid of the little paper slips. This makes walking around the store a bit easier and eliminates wondering if you heard the right number. They also recently did a 3-day price-match for me on tires so that saved me $90! This Costco also doesn't have as many shoppers on weekdays compared to other locations so it's convenient and easy.

He said, on big orders in self checkout you have to do the majority & we just get the last little bit???!!!! There was but 2 of us in the self checkout he was just standing there, hhhmmm??? Now this is the 2nd time Tuesday May 5th, around 1245pmish, Blown Away Once Again! 4 guys standing around and the one that stood around the register I was at (black young man) DID THE SAME THING!!! Waited until I was down to the last 6 items berries & medjool dates & offered to scan..??!!! I refused and went about my business completing the scanning and then proceeding to place everything back in my basket. Now I know Costco has a Great reputation for taking care of their employees...
