And let me tell you, Pure Energy has really set the bar high. I never understood how getting services done at a salon could be self care, as opposed to just maintenance, but now I know. First of all, the salon is gorgeous. This location is new (the salon relocated about a year ago), and everything looks clean, fresh, and modern. The whole vibe of the place - from the black pleather chairs, floor length mirrors, to the sink area, and even the Aveda merchandise - all exude luxury. If you want to feel like you're getting the spa experience while getting hair services, this salon is definitely for you. The stylists and employees are also wonderful. You can tell that they truly care for their customers. While I was there, I could tell that some clients had established relationships with the stylists just by how they were chit-chatting - and for those that didn't have such a relationship, those clients were still treated with respect and warmth. (I was there for a color service, so I was sitting quite awhile, and able to observe the genuine interactions!) I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Jen. She truly believes in her business, and her passion can be seen even as she is walking around her salon. Mario and Amanda took great care of me while I was there. It's going to be tough to go back to bargain salons after experience the true wonders of a luxury salon such as Pure Energy. If you want to treat yourself, don't hesitate to come here. I have very curly, frizzy hair, and she did the layers in a fashion that made the curls fall beautifully. Unfortunately, she retired recently. On my latest visit, with a new stylist, I had the utter frustration of feeling I could not get through to her about what I wanted. (She kept saying things about products - and what was left of my good cut she called 'chopped.') I came out with a very average cut, such as one might get at a walk-in place. No flowing layers - just frizz. I didn't want my hair very short, but did want the split ends removed (yes, I know about conditioner...) - my hair was knotted at the bottom by the next morning. I'm disappointed, because I used to love the layered cuts I had at Ultimate Visions - stylish and attractive. I don't know where to look now for the quality I had up until this year.

Everyone else at Salon Gossip is both kind and talented. Artwork on the walls is created by Frankie and owner/stylist extraordinaire Donna (what can't she do... she is doing stand-up too!), and is fabulous. It is nice to come to a place with positive energy, and it is clear that everyone is happy to be there. My hair looks great and lasts for such a long time. I love coming in here. This month's charitable cause, by the way, is lupus. Prices here are reasonable and they have good products available. Lastly, the conversation is lively, thoughtful, and fun. I had the pleasure of working with Keyla, and she was absolutely wonderful. From the moment I sat in her chair, she took the time to listen to what I wanted, offered knowledgeable advice, and provided helpful tips on how to get my hair back to a healthier place. Most importantly, she delivered exactly what I was hoping for. The color turned out beautiful and natural, and the haircut gave my hair the fresh start it desperately needed. However, the building they are in is one of the newer buildings so they have a good parking lot and a small yet nice set up. I got a curly cut and a gloss from them. They did a great job, but I wasn't fully diffused, which was not my preference. My stylist was also taking another client as she was taking care of me so that wasn't ideal, considering that the pricing for the service was the same as that of a high-end stylist who would only be taking care of one person at a time - I say this, as I used to go to a high-end curly hair salon where the clients always had undivided attention. I understand that there are only two stylists there, so it can be tricky if you have more than two clients; however, considering that the space is very small, I would expect them to not have more than two at a time. I may go back here if I know that I need something in the area, but I still wouldn't name this place as my go to.
