Before I spoke to Ms. Bisvevic, I spoke with another attorney from Yelp. I had a very brief conversation with her where she explained that immigration to Canada is next to impossible at the present. There was no charge for this information, as is typical here in the US. Ms. Biscevic reached out to me with a very different approach. When she sent our Zoom meeting request it included a request to pay her $200 fee upfront before I have even met or spoken to her. Our Zoom was different from the Zoom calls I have had with other attorneys in the US. There was a photo of her. It made it difficult to get a full understanding of what she was presenting. Unfortunately our call could not proceed without the $200 payment first. I have worked in billing at several firms here. That is not a common practice here in the US and I wasn't comfortable proceeding. It made me weary of what recourse I would have if her advice didn't match my goals. I was not willing to take that chance given the first Canadian attorney's very strong negative comments that I was not charged for. Ms Biscevic has a unique law billing system that I chose not to support. I hope this information offers a warning to do research and speak with several immigration attorneys in Montreal that align with your budget and goals.
